I've never had these cut of fries in Germany and very few places in the States. More of a peeled, corn chip shape, than a traditional fry. Great cook on them and I ate all of them! (Burp). A must stop at least once when in Berlin.

When you walk in, it seems really German. Kind of like walking into a British Pub, but you feel like you're in a typical German establishment. So that was kind of fun. We ended up ordering a bottle of Chianti. I had the Wienerschnitzel with green pepper sauce and my partner got a salami and gorgonzola pizza. The food was really tasty. The schnitzel was really tender and crispy, and the sauce was really peppery and delicious. I enjoyed the chips and salad too. The pizza was good as well. The only small issue was the service was kind of crappy. I hear that's the way it is in Germany, but I kind of expect a bit more. Also the door to the back smoking room was open, so every once in awhile you could smell smoke wafting past our table. That's not cool either. No one who doesn't smoke wants to smell cigarettes while they are eating. But I imagine if you get a table further to the back of the building, away from the room, you'll have better luck with that.

Anyway, it hit the spot, and the staff was very friendly, seemingly excited as hell to practice their English with us. Only fault - there was a steady stream of ants and I don't know where they were coming from - I think it might've been one of the menus they gave us. It's right in Potsdammer Plotz and seems like a German version of an Applebees but slightly higher end. Anyway, I'd go back for the goulash.

The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming with a great selection of Italian wines. The owner, Pino (like Grigio!) is a hilarious and gregarious man who made us feel very welcome. We ordered the caprese salad and 2 different pizzas (can't remember the toppings...), but as Chicagoans with a pretty high standard of pizza, they were both delicious!! The restaurant was very busy for a Wednesday night so that says a lot about its reputation among locals in the neighborhood. I highly recommend popping in here for some good food and good conversation!
