The facility itself is clean, and the equipment quality is definitely up to date and in great working condition. The cardio area was well organized and spacious enough to move around comfortably, which I appreciated. Decent size for any Olympic type of lifting or just regular strength training. I did not take a class, but they offer classes like cycling and yoga. They also keep you in the loop with online ads and updates about special offers, which is helpful if you're considering a membership. On the downside, the staff seemed pretty busy, so it was a bit hard to get help when needed. The locker rooms and bathrooms also felt crowded, and the lockers could be bigger, but you can still manage to fit your things if you pack smart. Overall, a solid gym with modern equipment, but the crowded locker areas and less personalized attention made it feel more average than exceptional.

There's no longer staff, except the cleaning staff of course, or any of the group classes that were previously offered. There's a good set of machines so you never have to wait to use them. The plus side - most cardio machines have a TV attached to them, and the view of the lake is quite serene. There's also a small pool on the north side of the floor. It's small... I can get across in about 5-6 strokes, so it isn't for actual swimming. It's for kids. The whirlpool, steam room and sauna are good. It's just convenient to have a gym in my building when I don't have the energy or time to go to my regular one.

I've been a member of Life Time Fitness for several years now and I have to say this location is…read more.. interesting. Located on the 9th floor of the One Chicago building near Magnificent Mile. To gain access into the club you can either walk in from the main lobby floor of One Chicago and take the elevator up to the 9th floor and that's where the club entrance is. There's only two elevators, during rush hour times there is often a line just to go up or down. You could take the stairs but who wants to climb 9 levels? That alone is a workout! Once you're inside the club there's 2 floor levels. The first floor has the check-in lobby, cafe, bar, locker rooms, rooftop pool and spa. The second level has all the workout equipment, cardio, and studio rooms for workout classes. I wasn't a big fan of the layout, it's kind of all over the place. Got a chance to take a Warrior Sculpt class with Taylor and it was awesome! One of the best sculpt classes I've ever had. I've seen some reviews complain about issues with the staff being rude but I honestly did not encounter any of that. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Oh and one last thing! This Life Time is open 24 hours! That's something I've never seen before, not even in NYC. That's a major win.

Do not try to cancel or pause your membership here because the front desk employees cannot do that (I tried to freeze mine here and continues to get charged and was unable to get refunded). This is by far the BEST FFC I have been to, and honestly, if you are paying for the multi-club…read moremembership, it's exactly what you hope ALL of them would be like (they aren't btw). This is a truly high-end luxury gym with state of the art equipment. The manager and staff are truly so kind and insightful when it comes to getting the full experience of the gym. There is a very wide-range of machines, cables, and free weights to truly maximize a workout, and plenty of them that you won't get slowed down by anyone else. My only complaint is that the layout of where things are can make it a little difficult to superset, if you are into that kind of thing. While I had pretty serious concerns about being a visibly queer person in the locker room here, no one batted an eye. I felt comfortable at all points, which is super cool given the neighborhood. If you're not visibly queer/trans this might be an unrelatable sentiment, but for anyone who is and is considering coming here, I hope this helps. Generally this gym is very cool compared to its counterparts in other neighborhoods like Lincoln Park and Oak Park. If you're a fitness content creator, the aesthetic is to die for, and I don't think anyone would bat an eye at you doing your thing. Happy lifting, I wish all of the FFC locations were duplicates of this one.

This gym is as good as you will ever find if you are disabled. All the equipment has been adapted…read morefor use by someone with any disability. The personal trainers are talented and friendly. In fact, the whole facility is welcoming and friendly and any stigma you feel about being in a wheelchair, on crutches, on a cane or any other disability disappear as soon as you walk in and see others like you working out. When i arrived in March, 2013 I had been in a wheelchair for 2 years after a botched hip replacement that shattered my femur. Within a few weeks of working with my personal trainer, Aleks, I was up on a walker and learning how to get out of my wheelchair on my own. I can now get out of my chair without assistance, walk with a walker and I am beginning to walk up and down steps. Since starting there I have joined the handcyling team that bikes the lakefront bike path twice a week. I have also started sailing on Lake Michigan, taking lessons at the Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing clinic in Burnham Harbor. I go to the center 4-5 times a week. I work with Aleks twice a week and work out on my own the other days. I take yoga every Mon. and have taken their Zumba and their cardio workout classes. I encourage anyone with a disability to check out this place. I think the yearly membership is less than $100.00 with a doctor's prescription.

They have amazing workout regime and definitely impactful strength training classes. I've attended Sean's Run X Lift classes for upper and lower body and loved both of them! Sean is my favorite trainer!! He is super motivating and I love his sassy comments throughout the class. I usually opt for Double Floor(DF) where you can skip the treadmill and just use weights all class! What I don't like about Barry's is that they're a bit unfair to ClassPassers lol. The credits required to signup for Barry's through ClassPass is usually on the higher side and even after using those credits, you are not guaranteed a spot for DF as they are limited. Also, their only Lift classes are almost blocked for ClassPass and one can never sign up for them! I am hoping they increase more slots for ClassPassers as I definitely would like to try more of their workout regimes! P.S. They also have free massage gun stations outside the studio from Theragun which you can use pre/post workout, which is really good and I don't think I've ever seen that before!

I like that the classes look out over Michigan Avenue and you get a great view while you're working out. I've only done a few classes, but the instructors are always knowledge, energetic, and very encouraging. Last night I did the Soccer Yoga class and it was fun. Yoga mats were provided and they have lockers in the studio (free of charge) Being a yoga newbie the instructor did a fantastic job demonstrating the moves.
