Really high end women's club, A bit on the pretentious side, but the food is really classy and scrumptious.

My wife is doing a program @ WAC. They couldn't be more accommodating. WAC has a long history in Chicago.

I've been a member of Life Time Fitness for several years now and I have to say this location is…read more.. interesting. Located on the 9th floor of the One Chicago building near Magnificent Mile. To gain access into the club you can either walk in from the main lobby floor of One Chicago and take the elevator up to the 9th floor and that's where the club entrance is. There's only two elevators, during rush hour times there is often a line just to go up or down. You could take the stairs but who wants to climb 9 levels? That alone is a workout! Once you're inside the club there's 2 floor levels. The first floor has the check-in lobby, cafe, bar, locker rooms, rooftop pool and spa. The second level has all the workout equipment, cardio, and studio rooms for workout classes. I wasn't a big fan of the layout, it's kind of all over the place. Got a chance to take a Warrior Sculpt class with Taylor and it was awesome! One of the best sculpt classes I've ever had. I've seen some reviews complain about issues with the staff being rude but I honestly did not encounter any of that. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Oh and one last thing! This Life Time is open 24 hours! That's something I've never seen before, not even in NYC. That's a major win.

I don't write reviews lightly, especially negative ones, but this location deserves honest…read morefeedback. I've been a Life Time member on and off since I was a kid, starting in the suburbs of Houston. I've belonged in multiple cities, used LifeWork spaces, spent thousands per year on personal training, and countless dollars on spa services. By any definition, I'm a high-utilization, loyal customer and a genuine fan of the brand. The Chicago River North location is the biggest disappointment I've had with Life Time. From the start, the experience was poor. When I first toured before relocating to Chicago, the front desk manager rushed me through the building as if it were on fire--no real explanation, no attempt to sell the experience, no hospitality. That should have been a warning sign. Within my first two visits, I had two items stolen: A $370 pair of Sony in-ear headphones (gone after stepping away for under five minutes to get water) A $225 Canada Goose toque, taken from a bench while I briefly stepped on the scale These were not misplaced--they were stolen. That speaks volumes about the environment and lack of oversight. Beyond that, the club is consistently overcrowded, dirty, and disorganized, and staff interactions are largely unhelpful. For a gym positioned as a premium urban location, it simply does not meet the standard Life Time sets elsewhere. The spa experience is especially underwhelming. At Houston locations like Green Street and The Woodlands, you're greeted, given robes and slippers, sometimes offered a beverage, and allowed to change in a calm, elevated environment. River North offers none of that. It feels far closer to a Massage Envy than the resort-style experience Life Time markets and charges for. The final straw: when I called to cancel and asked to speak with the General Manager to share feedback, my membership was canceled before anyone reached out, asked what went wrong, or attempted to retain me. For a brand built on experience and loyalty, that was shocking. I've now joined Equinox--something I didn't want to do, as it's not a full-service gym--but this location left me no choice. Life Time is a great brand. This location is not. If you're considering River North, manage your expectations--or look elsewhere.

I used to weigh almost 300lbs and since I joined FFC they've taught me so many helpful and healthy things. Between the Nutritionist, the Cafe with amazing smoothies, the Massage services, Sauna, Whirlpool this gym has become my place of Zen and most importantly there's no people taking videos of themselves on the gym floor! The vibe is also very relaxing and comfortable, the locker rooms and gym area are constantly being cleaned, and the laundry service is exceptional. I also have to give a shout-out to Leo, one of the personal trainers they provide, he not only helped fix my stretching technique so I have less back pain now and he is awesome and knowledgeable about fitness. I highly recommend this gym and the Premier package for anyone looking for a gym where no one is judging you or taking TikToks. Best investment I ever made!

Well let me start by saying I can guarantee you won't find a cleaner gym. At any given time there…read moreare multiple employees cleaning, mopping, wiping down machines, putting cable attachments back in their place. Anything that needs to be done no employee walks past it without cleaning or putting it in order. Even the trainers will tidy up the weight lifting and functional training areas. Speaking of trainers this club has the nicest trainers of any gym I've been to. You will never be intimidated and they go out of their way to speak to you and are highly educated in their field. These aren't "trainers" that follow some cookie cutter workout plan they go in depth to put together a well rounded full body fitness plan for whatever your fitness needs are. I've worked out for over 20 years and I've learned a lot by just watching them with their clients. They are highly educated and love to help even if you're not their client they will take time to help you any way they can. The club speaks for itself. It's huge. Weights, machines, rows and rows of cardio equipment, stretching areas, two turf areas, tons of functional equipment for the turf area, basketball court, lap pool, Pilates, spin room, spa, men's/women's locker rooms, tons of classes free to members, a cafe with food and smoothies, free WiFi and computers in the cafe. Probably still missing a lot but you get the picture. I know I talked about the cleanliness but for as much foot traffic as this place gets it really is impressive. The men's locker room is pristine no matter what time of time of day it is. There is always someone in there refreshing towels or dry mopping the floors between the showers and lockers. The employees go above and beyond when it comes to cleaning. There's also a nice casual area in the men's locker room with recliner chairs and a tv. I understand you pay more here than most other gyms but I can say at this club your money is put to well use. There are no shortage of employees, equipment is always in working order, regular addition of new more advanced equipment, and you're not just another number on the account. When you walk in and scan your card you're genuinely greeted and usually on a first name basis.

They have amazing workout regime and definitely impactful strength training classes. I've attended Sean's Run X Lift classes for upper and lower body and loved both of them! Sean is my favorite trainer!! He is super motivating and I love his sassy comments throughout the class. I usually opt for Double Floor(DF) where you can skip the treadmill and just use weights all class! What I don't like about Barry's is that they're a bit unfair to ClassPassers lol. The credits required to signup for Barry's through ClassPass is usually on the higher side and even after using those credits, you are not guaranteed a spot for DF as they are limited. Also, their only Lift classes are almost blocked for ClassPass and one can never sign up for them! I am hoping they increase more slots for ClassPassers as I definitely would like to try more of their workout regimes! P.S. They also have free massage gun stations outside the studio from Theragun which you can use pre/post workout, which is really good and I don't think I've ever seen that before!

Now as an adult I took a solo trip to Chicago and saw the fitness studio. Nostalgia came running towards me and I booked it. My first class was on my 34th birthday and I went every day since on my trip. I love everything about it. From the friendly staff to the facility. Staff was friendly, inviting, and motivational. Shot out to Holly, Katie, and Spencer they know how to push you and make you feel so proud of yourself and rewarding. Personally I had been feeling extremely depressed for about 6 months about my body and my capabilities. Let me tell you this was the best thing I could have done for myself to gain back my confidence and abilities in physical fitness. I felt and feel more capable and the self worth and low self esteem about my body has stopped. They made me feel capable and strong of so much more than I gave myself credit for. Thank you to everyone at Barry's you truly touched my life and I am forever grateful. I'm sad and dark times you inspired me and made me feel worthy again. Thank you!

They used to host classes in Lincoln Park, but now they are on Michigan Avenue. The studio is tucked away on Michigan Avenue next to Cole Haan. If you walk to fast you might miss the entrance. I like that the classes look out over Michigan Avenue and you get a great view while you're working out. I've only done a few classes, but the instructors are always knowledge, energetic, and very encouraging. Last night I did the Soccer Yoga class and it was fun. Yoga mats were provided and they have lockers in the studio (free of charge) Being a yoga newbie the instructor did a fantastic job demonstrating the moves. I was surprised you really work up a sweat doing some of them. The classes sizes are big, but not too big. I think there were around 25 people at the yoga class. Only con I would say are these classes fill up fast. They used to show a month worth of classes, but now they only post them by week. They publish the weekly calendar every Sunday at 2:00pm, so just try to be on it. Great place to go to work out with your girls or even by yourself.
