I'm no medical student and this building's main function is the education of medical students. So instead I'm reviewing it in its capacity as an exhibition space and as a place on campus to get a bite to eat.
As you enter the Wolfson you find yourself in a large, white, bright space known as the atrium. There's a little art on the walls and a cafe the's accessed on the far side away from the main entrance. This atrium is occasionally used as a function room or as an exhibition space. I've been involved with a few events here, mostly for the Glasgow Science Festival, where it has proven to be ideal for setting up stalls and talking to guests about science (or whatever else, according to your events theme).
Students already get free WiFi here through the eduroam network and guest WiFi is also sometimes available during events. Power points are plentiful (very helpful when running events) and the natural light coming in from above is refreshing and easy on the eyes.
The cafe is part of the University of Glasgow's catering services. Arguably university catering is probably the thing I hear Glasgow University students (and sometimes staff) complaining about more often than any other aspect of the university. However, if you're after a cheap soup, sandwich, baked potato or other basic meal, or a coffee and a cake, then you'll struggle to find much cheaper in the West End than you can get at the University Cafes.
To give the staff their credit this can also make for a very quick lunch since they are super efficient. Do have a good look at what you're buying though - occasionally things aren't quite as fresh as you'd hope. read more
