Now imagine realizing this while your child sleeps inside. Our project involved five exterior doors, four storm doors, James Hardie siding, and closing an exterior window. At one stage, three of four storm doors lacked essential operating hardware. We had to ask: Can we secure our home tonight? Could we use these doors during an emergency? Is our child safe? We could not postpone urgent corrections indefinitely while the owner blocked us, so on our own, we hired consultants to investigate the concerns and offer recommendations. The project was expected to be completed March 16-20, 2026, but remained unresolved months later. Hawkins continued demanding $9,577.20, which we disputed based on incomplete work, corrective costs, credits, reduced scope, and the undelivered door. Because of Hawkins lack of quality control in all aspects of its business, poor documentation and communication, and the countless risks associated with their unacceptable quality of workmanship, we hired consultants and other contractors, involved attorneys, disputed the balance, and completely lost trust & confidence. I could tell from the first meeting I had with them that they were friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to work with, and their quote was thousands of dollars less than the other company I had talked to! We live hours away from their headquarters, but they had no problem traveling to us. If I had not known someone who had already used them, I might have been worried that it was too good to be true, but they delivered in every aspect. They were meticulous in their work, and their attention to detail was exceptional. We were so impressed with the siding, soffits, and fascia, that we decided to have them give us a quote for gutters as well, and we added that to the project. I have since found out that in addition to windows and siding, they have crews who can do any kind of construction work, and we plan to have them back to help us with the other projects on our house, including new windows, in the future. Consumer beware. Let…read moremy lesson be a warning to anyone who is looking for exterior painting. January 2nd I made a post looking for recommendations for exterior painting and siding repairs. I received a few messages and had 3 different quotes. Every person who came for an estimate was shown the same areas that needed replacement or repair, including a walk around the house. Yes, the house is an older home, but that was made known up front. I received 3 quotes, 2 were very close in price. One of those was Pro-Clean. At the time of the estimate, the owners wife, Kat, was the one who came to the home, spoke with me, took pictures of the areas of concern and said it would be "no problem". Estimate received (see attached photos) which listed House paint & Repair Paint house, fascia, trim, soffit, white wash look on Brick, repair siding, soft wash fence, pressure wash concrete. In talking with the owner, I was advised they would also throw in washing the privacy fence also. That was the deciding factor to go with this company. I also made it clear that I was in no hurry for the project to be started, as we were expecting the winter storm within the coming weeks. Project was started the week the weather was moving in. I was assured that there would be no issues with paint curing due to this. Due to the weather, I was unable to really see the detailed work that was done until the weather had passed. At that time, I walked the house and noticed that none of the siding had been addressed. Screens were found on the ground under the snow cover, windows were covered in overspray. Yes it's an old house and windows are old, but I still expected better. I messaged the owner, Derrick, to ask about this. I was told that they could not repair the siding, that it needed to be replaced and they could not do that. I told him that was unfortunate, because the other estimates I received included the repair/replacement of these areas. As I sat with this for a few days, the more irritated I became. As soon as they saw the issue and were unable to replace it, the project should have been halted and the homeowner should have been notified. He stated that he told me when he started the project, which is untrue because I was at work when they began working. I even clarified in text the pricing and what was included. Within a few days, paint began to bubble. I sent a picture of the areas to him and asked if they could address it. One week, no answer. I sent another text and received a reply that they would take care of it. Derrick came and scraped the areas, slapped one coat of paint on it and that was it. I sent a message to the owners wife, through messenger, as she was the one who reached out to me and was the one who came to do the estimate, stating my disappointment. I did tell them that I would not be able to recommend their business due to my experiences. Derrick immediately texted me and told me this was a "budget level job" and they don't repair or replace siding. I did not ask for a budget level job, I asked for an estimate. They took it upon themselves to do a budget level job. I asked for the paint information, so I could apply a second coat to the bubbled areas myself, and so whoever I hired could color match the rest of the house. He refuses to give me that information, which is the least they could do. He keeps saying we can have a phone call to discuss, I refuse to have any communication not in writing. Last message sent 3/12 and no reply. I have sat on this, because I was giving them a chance to do the right thing before taking it public. I've exhausted my patience. I have attached every single text and message, and pictures of work. I don't want anyone to deal with the issues I've had. If they could not repair or replace the siding, they should have said that the day they did the estimate, or at the very least, when he reviewed the pictures that were taken. A simple, "sorry, that's not something we can address" would have at least allowed me to go a different direction. I did have them stain and repair the fence, this work is satisfactory, it seems like this is what they should stick with.
