I looked on Yelp for a good 2 weeks - checked names with google searches etc. Originally I wanted a woman Dr (just thinking they'd be sympathetic to the high heel/shoe issue) .... I came up empty handed and had to choose one of the many men podiatrists. Not many podiatrists had reviews on Yelp, just a handful so it was kind of a crap shoot - I chose one that was more local with a few reviews. I looked at the one bad review from 2010 and realized that review was for a doctor in a NYC office. Not this Doctor. I made an appointment with the loveliest of receptionists with the greatest of ease. On the day of my appointment, I got there about 10 minutes early to fill out some paperwork (I could have printed out the forms from home and filled them out before hand) My appointment time was right on the button - no waiting what so ever. The Dr Gewirtz was SINCERELY nice. I was very comfortable with him. He assessed my feet for a good 40 minutes with the upmost of scrutiny - he took some x-rays - an ultrasound and told me what condition I actually had vs what my old dr claimed I had. In total I was there for a tad over 1 hour. I never felt rushed and he was more than willing to answer any questions that I had. Oh, and he was very sympathetic to my shoe/heel issues. They said I…read morehad to have surgery but I had to deal with getting clearances from two doctors and making arrangements with the surgical center myself. I'm injured and in pain and all the office did was become increasingly hostile to me when I couldn't make it all work. When I failed to coordinate all four offices, they cancelled the surgery, which they had said needed to be done quickly, and showed no interest in quickly rescheduling. I was disappointed by their complete lack of empathy and have moved to another practitioner.

Secondly, I was made to continually feel like I was being a baby about it . Also , there were constant implications that I wasn't working hard enough and that was why my foot was taking so long to heal. Meanwhile at my wonderful PT office I was told that I had a severe injury that would take a very long time to heal and that they were sorry I was not prepared and impressed by my willingness to work so hard. There is definitely something wrong in this office. The only person that was consistently nice was the woman that greeted you at the front desk. I felt like no one else wanted to be there or wanted me to be there and I didn't feel like a person with value. . On my last visit I was told " this is your last visit -bye! Two years later my foot is still numb , but, I would never go back there or recommend my surgeon. I'm sorry , but, I believe people that work in the medical field must have skill and empathy!

My wife who was a cancer patient developed issues with her toe nails after her chemo. At first she was nervous because she had no idea that chemo could affect your toe nails. Dr. G helped her understand what was going on and also made them look better. He explained the process of healing and what to expect. Plus like I said made them look and feel better. As for me.... I'm on my feet 10 hours a day and sadly they get abused. But Dr. G took care of my feet and I feel incredible now. My wife and I are patient's for life!
