Contract signed 5/28/26. Two average sized bathrooms updated from fiberglass tub and shower, with both floors tiled and bath surrounds. The cost was $50K this did include a bidet.Poor communication from start as they FORGOT to tell us about the APP they used, too many chiefs not enough indians.
Demo was scheduled for July 15. A young man named Merlin arrived and spent less than an hour then left stating he had a family emergency. When no one arrived the next day it was determined that this man was aptly named for he indeed performed a vanishing act. The next day J showed up an older man who did his work afterwards announcing to us that he was finished. We went to foyer where J stood and we said Thank You and goodbye, J awkwardly stood in front of the door. My husband opened the door and said good bye again. Was this a point that determined bad outcomes?
We were scheduled for 'rough plumbing' on July 29. The 'plumber' M showed up on that day and stated that he would return at the same time the next day, he was a no call no show 2 days in a row. M finally did show the 3rd day and was tipped. A tip was sent for J, at 50K we did not expect to feel the need to tip but what more unfortunate events would we face?
We announced prior to the work that we had a fishing trip for July 30-31 and no construction. The company places a lock box with a key to your house in it such as seen on realtor houses for sale. While we were away we saw on our security cameras that M had brought someone to our house, retrieved the key and entered our house. We did not place this lockbox again for safety reasons as everyone who works for this company or HAS EVER worked for company knows the 4 digit code. We did call and speak with a manager who stated that the man with M was coincidentally a subcontractor, we never received any assessment evaluation from the subcontractor. NO CALL NO SHOW FOR 2 DAYS THEN ENTERED WHEN OWNERS WERE OUT OF TOWN.
I told the tile worker D several times that we were only getting lukewarm water since the start of work, he just shrugged, he was very busy as he received approximately 10-20 phone calls a day. We had unrelated work from our amazing plumber Dallas from G4 Plumbing, when he learned that we had been taking lukewarm showers for 3 months he found Rough Plugs had been placed in both showers instead of Delta plugs causing hot water to mix with cold water. He did ask the tile worker if M was actually a real plumber. Joe is THE trusted, skilled worker that came to our project and fixed several improperly done work.
One day I was told by the tile worker D, not a manager, that someone had forgotten to order our tile and it would be 3 weeks of living in a demo chaos house before it would arrive even though we were told by Wolf that they " WOULD NOT START A PROJECT UNTIL ALL MATERIALS WERE PRESENT". Learn from our lesson, call the tile company to verify all materials are present and marked for your project. The office had not notified the countertop company the specs for the faucets we chose . Floorboards and threshold transitions are an expensive extra charge if not 'specified' in your contract, if the PROFESSIONALS FAILED TO INCLUDE THESE CHARGES HOW WOULD WE NON PROFESSIONALS KNOW THAT THESE AREN'T INCLUDED IN A 50K BUDGET? A charge for another project was put on our bill.... so be diligent both before you sign and during.
On Oct. 9 J arrived to install toilets. He again just stood at front door and announced he was finished, all he needed was a cardboard sign. When he left we discovered that the float valve on one of the toilets was incorrectly positioned causing continuous water flow WHEN I OPENED THE WATER LINE TO THAT TOILET, as J had not opened the water line on installation. D the tile man FINALLY completed the work on shower floor and stated that it needed to dry for at least 24 hours. After over 48 hours the shower was used. An inch and half of water puddled at the back of the shower, many tiles where so badly set that the edges stuck up, it was a catastrophe . A very good subcontractor named Evin Castro completed the job of demo and rebuild in 2 days. October 12 was last day of this project FAR EXCEEDING THE 90 DAY GUARANTEE TO BE COMPLETE! The workers state they have never finished a project within that time frame. Godspeed Merlin!
We made many mistakes in this project, we feel we could have gotten a lower bid, we tipped. Don't leave medications in closets just in case. read more
