Now it's a buffet style restaurant, so you can just walk up and get what ever food looks good to you, so the service isn't the best once your seated! Everytime I go we are chasing or waving down servers for our drinks or for tableware! But that is literally the only bad or downside I can think of, when it comes to this restrooms! I love that you can get your favorites on a budget, plus (& eat as much as you want or can of it too) as well as you get to try different foods without breaking the bank! especially when it comes to sea food, witch can get pricey quickly especially if you have never tried that specific food before, and taste testing trying to find out what you do and don't like! You can return up for more food and you can go up as many times as you like! All the food and seafood is so fresh and everything is delicious! Some things have a little spice or kick to it, but other than that this is prolly my favorite restaurant right now! Go you won't regret it I promise you that!

We were there on a Monday at about 4 p.m.. I was very disappointed to find no whole Maine lobsters, the reason for me taking her there. They changed the policy to weekends and holidays only for the whole lobster. Granted they still had lobster, but as a Ginger Scallion Stirfry dish. The lobster was cut into small pieces, which were overcooked and tough and dry. The sauce makes it much messier to eat. I didn't care for it at all. The huge jumbo crabs I'd seen on my previous visit, on this visit were very small. I was rather embarrassed, as I'd talked it up so much to my sister and I promised to take her there for her birthday. I was sorry she did not get to experience the same experience I'd had a month before. Yes, there are still many options to choose from. That was not the issue. When you have expectations of something and are letdown, that's a disappointment. The food was still pretty good.

I come here for happy hour every now and then because the prices are really great, and both the food and drinks are delicious. We started with the specialty cocktail and the Thai Punch, and both were really good. They had fruity undertones, and the alcohol wasn't overpowering at all -- I could easily have a few of these. For food, we got a few orders of the kung pao chicken wings. They were perfectly crispy with a really flavorful glaze. The portion size was also very generous, especially for the happy hour price. These are a great example of Asian-style fried chicken wings done right. I definitely want to come back and try their full dinner menu since I've only been here for happy hour so far. Luckily, it's not too far from where I live in the city, so I'll definitely be back!

Our server couldn't have been more knowledgable and attentive. She helped us round out our dining selections and made sure we knew when happy hour last call was, which was certainly appreciated! Looking forward to going to Philly again so I can dine here again! It's a must on your Philly itinerary!

The entire experience is a solid 9.5/10 for me. The service, ambiance, food, everything. From the hosts to the servers to the managers, everyone is always so attentive and hospitable. The downstairs is so romantic, cozy and intimate. My only complaint is that the lighting is SO dim that if you don't have 20/20 vision, good luck reading the menu. Now the FOOD. Everything is just good. The quality, the seasoning, the flavors, all of it. My go to orders are their double knot sushi, beef skewers, and their Wagyu, which is honestly one of my favorite Wagyus I've ever had. Their drinks are great, too, especially their lychee martini. I genuinely don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. This is one of those restaurants that just gets it right, and I will always recommend it!

Kalaya was featured on Netflix's Chef's Table and has won a James Beard Award. This is the type of restaurant where you can literally order ANYTHING and it will be a 12/10. If you love spicy food, Kalaya is your dream destination, where spice meats exploding flavors. Highly recommend the branzino, the yellow curry with chicken, Thai tea tiramisu!!! (Which was so special) and any of their dumplings. I order something different every time I come and one of my favorite, drool worthy sides is the charred cabbage. Doesn't sound like anything special but it is FAB and I need to figure out how to make it home!!! Go to Kalaya, you won't be disappointed!!

(Note: if you only want smaller serving of their great, thick noodles, order $4 add-on as a side in place of rice with regular dish.) I always have leftovers to enjoy at home. Dumpling orders are large and shareable. (Always 6 or 8 pieces.) My fave when dining in is amazingly delicious and huge Fish Fillet in Hot and Sour Cabbage Broth. (That's best with rice side to help absorb broth.) So good and healthful to balance the dough density of whatever dumplings you might also order -- they're all great. When getting order to go (or delivered) I like Kung Pao Chicken; it travels well. Order added green veggie dish for sharing -- I lean toward Chinese Broccoli; you'll really want the balance with the delicious dumpling and noodle dishes. Large cocktail menu -- Lychee Martini is so refreshing. Important: cash only for dining in. There's an ATM by their front door. Takeout and delivery accepts credit cards. Most reasonably priced parking nearby (if you don't score a limited street spot) is ParkAmerica at 1040 Race St a few doors down. In fact, it was one of the valet guys in that garage who recommended Dim Sum Garden when I was seeking great Chinese option. (Thank you, Ceasar!)

I just get a feeling that the focus is on pushing alcoholic drinks rather than on the food. The pork buns felt like they were previously frozen and were very sweet. Shrimp dumplings tasted off. Service was never the star but it wasn't so dismissive either. Just a very bad experience and while I won't go back, I also don't want to rate them 1 star as that would be unfair. Their food now is no better than the next guy and that's disappointing. Cash only btw. I write this because they do not post signs and a couple tables had to go grab cash from their ATM machine.
