Wok and Go is one of two identical new eat-in/takeaway bars in the city centre. The Bold Street branch being the first one to open has become quite a popular place recently just by observation when I have passed by several times. Since I do like things which are popular and busy, I decided one day to try one of their oriental dishes - the Pad Thai box. On their menu, this dish caught my eye with its description which sounded interesting and a classic Thai meal I hadn't had before but I'd heard of many times on TV. However, the description did not exactly match and for the meal being the 'real deal', well I would have to visit Thailand. There were no crushed roasted peanuts included which is what it said on the menu. To omit such a vital ingredient is not a disaster but a slight disappointment. More of the positive is that the food was definitely fresh and hot. Everything about the bar was great and you could tell it was clean and well maintained. Prices are a little high but service was efficient on my first visit.

Noodles are big business it would appear. If facing financial difficulties in light of a recession it seems opening a noodle bar is the way forward as Liverpool seems to be inundated with them. Now that I have been to Wok & Go it's obvious why this is. Asian food is always popular but is often unhealthy - more than two days a week of your average Chinese and Indian dishes sorts the men from the boy's waistlines! Also noodles are far more versatile than rice - for rice merely wastes space on my plate. Wok & Go have a very limited menu I have to say so far - but they are new to Bold St with plans to open til late and a new delivery service shows that they are growing so hopefully will their range - but what they do have is delicious and healthy. Be warned, the portions are much smaller than your average chinese at around £4.60 for the reg and £5.50 for the large but then can you put a price on healthy eating that tastes this good. Oh, yes, I just said £4.60.

Red thai curry hot box!

Food tasted great. I ordered a thai red curry box with noodles and chicken. The meal was a regular but got upgraded to large as it's the offer on Sunday, I had to reset this though so if you're looking any of the deals make sure you mention whilst ordering. I only managed to eat half of my meal as the portions were huge! Food all in came to £8.00 which is great for the taste and volume of food.

I will say none of the options are overly spicy, so if you are looking for heat, you might need to visit elsewhere. With my group, I managed to sample nearly everything and recommend the duck in any form. The coconut rice is also just awesome! The staff is friendly and attentive. They are more than willing to offer suggestions as well. Finally, don't forgot, if you have a birthday in the group, the staff will be more than glad to embarrass them with attention and a song!

Although I was a bit skeptical at first when my friend brought me here because usually this type of posh and über trendy restaurants serve water down Asian food for non-Asian folks. I know how authentic Thai food tastes like because I have been to Thailand and I hang out with Thai friends who taught me how to cook Thai food. Contrary to my low expectations , I was pleasantly surprised by the succulent massaman & chicken green curry. I thoroughly enjoyed all the food I've tried and I was impressed with the sophisticated and contemporary decor as well. This is a great choice for any special occasion, it was the perfect location to meet up with my old friend whom I haven't seen for more than 20 years.

We saw Ichi Noodles and HAD to stop in. It's tiny with only one table and a small counter, but you won't care. You'll stand patiently waiting for your order while taking in all the delicious aromas. I had the teriyaki beef and my hubby had the chicken (can't remember specifically), but both were absolutely great. We ordered the "value" size which was more than enough food for one person. Just love this place and wish I could eat here every day. Thanks for a great meal! Definitely recommend you whole-heartedly!

Didn't apologise, or tell me why they can't serve me, or even check the allergen list in their kitchen and tell me that their food isn't nut safe, just "no we can't serve you". Wouldn't even serve me after that if I wanted food for just myself! I'd have understood if they would have told me why they can't serve me, but just got a rude flat refusal of service. Always loved their food, but won't be going back after that. Bad customer service, and clearly there must be lots of cross contamination if that is the only response they are willing to give!

If your image of an almost city centre Thai restaurant is swish, contemporary and minimalistic -…read moredon't come to Siam Garden. The decor is very traditional, which isn't necessarily a negative, it just depends on your tastes. The somewhat tacky gold statues etc. are dotted around the place, and the wallpaper is out of this world. I've been here a couple of times, the most notable was on a Friday lunchtime when I popped in for something to eat with a couple of friends. I had two courses for £5 or something silly like that. The food was lovely, exactly what I expected - even if it did arrive suspiciously quicky...

The menu is ppretty big with probably about a hundred dishes if i was to hazard a guess. If you're an avid Thai cuisine fan you already know the score as to what is on that menu...you got your satays, green chicken curry, mixed seafood with chilli and basil leaves, hot-and-sour beef salad, etc etc What you might not expect if you've been here is the strangely named goong bikini (crispy king prawn pancake rolls with sweet-and-sour dip), or the Chiang Mai 'golden sausages, as well as the whole sea bass cooked with lemon grass and tamarind. The decor again is what you'd expect from a Thai place, slightly cheesy, for me anyway, but welcoming and ambient. If you have already tried Chaophraya then give this a whirl, you'll be impressed with the quality of the food and service and will be few pennies the wiser.
