This is tough. The service is good. Everyone is so kind and there's never too much of a wait…read more Sadly. ALL transactions take days to show on your account. I don't mean two or three because that would still be frustrating but doable...no, Bank of Alma goes beyond the minor annoyances and gives itself a FULL week to handle EACH transaction. If you aren't balancing your account, do not bother depending on your online account to keep you up to date. Honestly, don't even bother using your money at all unless you are keeping a CLOSE eye on it because it isn't hard to go in the red. Shoot, I wish this was the only issue I have with this institution...getting a debit card was harder than it should be...you can't spend more than $200 a day unless you ask for an increase on your debit withdrawal limit. Look, I can't name everything that has been irritating as heck since I opened an account with this ridiculously almost archaic bank. The computers must be for decor... If you're really into balancing your checkbook manually and constantly or if you enjoy not knowing just what hasn't been withdrawn from your account yet, this bank is for you.

Moving to Menomonie -- open your new accounts at Bank Mutual!…read more Unhappy with your present financial institution in Menomonie, Eau Claire -- use our bank -- Bank Mutual! We have been customers at Bank Mutual for many years. They are a state of the industry bank with great online customer services. We travel and we have been unable to easily manage our accounts, deposits and bank needs -- from thousands of miles away -- via their web site. We recommend Bank Mutual for these reasons: * Flawless error free customer accounting * Friendly personal service * Excellent competitive low costs for customers * Trustworthy, tech proficient staff who can answer and email without saying -- you have to call customer service by phone or come into the bank * Because we have banked with them for 7+ years -- and we like them and want them to be even more successful. Go open an account -- and tell them Profs. Kelly Schultz and Benita DIlley sent you -- I am sure your services will be as good as ours, and they are having a great deal for new customers right now. They are small friendly bank who calls us by name when we enter the front door -- not after they open our account and check the balance. If you need a new bank, pick this one. If your son/daughter is going to be a student at U.W. Stout -- pick this bank. New faculty? Tired of a credit union? Pick this bank. We love these people and want them to be very successful. Too many small banks are being swallowed by large ones -- Pick this bank. If you want the emotional story that really won my heart and made me so loyal to Bank Mutual -- here it is: We maintain accounts in Menomonie and because of teaching responsibilities at a University in New Haven, CT-- we also have accounts at a very large east coast based bank with a large national reputation. Here is the story that really won me over. I was the most impressed when we had a problem with an elderly confused person to whom we had written checks and made regular payments (through the bank automated bill pay system.) We contacted the bank and asked for assistance in getting copies of cancelled checks and information on when the bank's bill pay system had sent the check payments. It was a time of stress for us, since I wasn't sure I could locate our bank statements from 2011 when the elderly gent suddenly in late 2014 -- suddenly decided he hadn't been paid three years earlier. I explained I needed cancelled checks and bank bill pay information, and share with them why I needed it. I figured it would be week, ten phone calls and large bank charges for the documents and research. Within two business days, I had all the cancelled checks, by bill pay records and everything I needed -- their only question was --would you like that electronically delivered or a paper version mailed to you? I was so impressed. I had never before felt like my bank was on my side, they were valiant and lightening fast in pulling cancelled checks, bill pay information to prove all the payments were made and on time.
