We've been without hot water for two weeks (and counting)...in sub-freezing temperatures because of company-wide incompetence. Our tankless water heater stopped working on a Friday afternoon and flashed a code. We contacted WMH because we have a service contract with them for the entire house. They wouldn't send anyone out until the following afternoon. The technician identified additional parts that were needed to complete the repair and ordered them from the manufacturer to be delivered directly to our house ASAP to avoid hassles with their warehouse (very appreciated). The problem is that he failed to order the parts related to the initial code that prompted the service call in the first place. We were out of town (thankfully) for several days and when we returned on a Saturday, the part was waiting for us at home. We called WMH first thing on Sunday, and the wouldn't send anyone until the following day. At this point, we'd been without a water heater/hot water for 10 days. In literal freezing temperatures that prevented snow from melting for weeks. No sense of urgency on their end whatsoever. By noon on Monday, no one had come to the house or called. We called to get a status update and were told that the technician didn't find the part in the warehouse, so he didn't come to the house. No one called to tell us this. If they had, we could have told them that WE HAVE THE PART AT THE HOUSE! They send he would come out later that afternoon to make the repair. Then they called back after an hour to say, never mind, the job takes too long so they won't send anyone until the next day (Tuesday). It's Tuesday (12 days without hot water), and the technician finally appears in the morning. After working for four hours and installing the new part, he tells us that the prior tech failed to order the parts needed to correct the flashing code (i.e., the reason we called them in the first place). They had to order the part, wait for it to come in, and then schedule another service appointment. We asked that it be sent directly to our house so we could keep track of it and use another service provider if we wanted. He agreed. By Thursday (our 14th day without hot water), we had to call WMH to ask when we could expect delivery of the part because it hadn't shown up yet. They confirmed it had been ordered but would get back to us with an ETA. They never got back to us. Friday morning, (15th day without hot water) we called WMH to get an ETA on the part. They said it had been shipped directly to their warehouse (contrary to our wishes) and that they'd be sending someone to make the repair that afternoon. We're still waiting for that technician to show. In the meantime, we saw an Oliver van pull into our neighbors' driveway and promptly setup a maintenance contract with them and will be using them to finish this job if WMH is yet another no-show. Maintenance contract: We have a service contract with WMH for several years and not once have they showed up on the scheduled service date. Nor have they called us to let us know they weren't showing. So we miss work that day and then have to miss work another day for when they actually do decide to show up--but they only show up if you micromanage them. And we do not have time for that, especially when their customer service is abysmal and their services are objectively over-priced!!! read more

They billed me for an "estimate" and never told me I was going to have a service charge. I never got a bill and then four months later they called to say this payment was months past due. I called literally four times to speak to someone about it and each time was told someone would call me back. No one ever did...It was such a waste of my time to chase them down on this $89.00 fee but out of principal I was not paying it. After speaking to Heather in service she assured me it would be resolved. I am hopeful she will put this to an end. Bottom line, I would never work with them again!! read more

Let's start with the individual who performed the services - he was courteous, friendly, was careful to be clean and was prompt in making solid repairs. On to the reason for the rating. We had a scheduled time for Henderson to show up in about a week. They called us one day and said they had an opening for the afternoon and they could come over then - so we agreed. So we are now helping each other - we get the repair done sooner and they get to keep someone billing when he would have had free time. We needed 2 repairs - a leaking outside hose bib and a toilet with a slight wobble and a wax seal that we felt needed to be replaced. The Henderson staff member gave us a quote of over $300 to repair the hose bib and over $500 to put a new seal on the toilet and stop any wobbling. So you know, Henderson charges $90 to show up to look at the job - which I understand - and that amount is deducted from the charges once we requested that action. I did ask what the hourly rate was and the reply is you type it in the computer and it gives you a price for a job. Well, he was here, we were already out $90, so we said go ahead. The $300+ hose bib repair was done in under 10 minutes (really). The toilet was taken apart and it was identified that a new flange was needed. I was told that costs more to repair. I asked what was causing the wobbling we were getting fixed in the initial estimate if not a broken flange. He said it could have been other causes - I have no idea what else it could have been but he stuck to his statement. So he input this into the computer and the price was $500+ to repair the flange - but since the toilet was already apart (by far the most time required on the job) the manager had allowed it to be fixed at 1/2 the quoted cost - so an additional $250 (for a flange - you take off the old one, place a new one down - work done). We had a toilet in pieces so we felt we had no choice but to go ahead. Would I use Henderson again? Only in an emergency if no one else could respond. read more

Bumped into this company via Farryl Electric showing up on online feed. Originally was going to contact Reali Electric, but they appear to no longer exist. Farryl has merged with WM Henderson. They charge for estimates and I have no interest in paying for an estimate. If I go with them, they would consider waiving the estimation fee or applying it to the service if I go with them. This is not a practice I'm crazy about, and it seems that online systems like to track this kind of information themselves as well. The most abysmal customer service I've experienced in my 70 years! I called for service on Friday night and a technician came to the house about 10:00. He quickly identified the gas valve as the problem. He didn't have the part and couldn't tell me when it would be in. Gone in 15 minutes and not really interested in customer service. I won't go through the whole story. The nightly temps were in the teens. FIVE days later a different technician came and fixed the furnace. I called several times (5-6) during this problem asking specifically to speak with a manager. I got ONE call back, (from Lindsay) evidently to give me as many excuses as possible. The bill was $1100 and she offered to refund $350. 10 days later and no refund. I'll be surprised if it happens. DO NOT do business with this company!!! read more

I had four HVAC companies come out to give estimates for a new central AC system. They all raised concerns about the size of my attic and that most AC systems would not fit. Except Henderson. According to the 'comfort expert' there would be no issue getting a Lennox in there. Aside from the fact that the Henderson rep applied high pressure sales techniques, the quote was reasonable and the warranty is the best in town. The install date was going to be the following week and we were super excited about it. I texted the sales guy asking for confirmation about the unit fitting and he happily replied that it was not a problem. I felt so uneasy about three companies saying it was impossible that I contacted Henderson saying I really wanted a second opinion from an installer. The sales guy complied and sent their 'lead installer' out to my house for a 'double check' the DAY BEFORE the install. Lo and behold, an hour later, I got a call from the sales guy that they COULD install an AC but it would be a Payne unit instead of a Lennox. Insult to injury, he claimed it was 'Carrier's premium brand' and that they would hold the SAME QUOTE even though Henderson was 'losing money.' Essentially, I was paying for a Lennox and getting a Payne. We ended up going with another company that was able to install a Trane unit that is designed for tight spaces like small attics. Overall a pretty bad experience from Henderson. From being pressured to buy, to being bait and switched with a lower quality unit at the same price a day before the install, there's ZERO chance I'd work with Henderson in the future. read more

I also asked again for a Manager to call me....and still no one. DO NOT USE WM Henderson. Repair Service to Fix Gas Boiler - WM Henderson first sends out a tech who is not familiar with gas boilers and admits there is an issue but does not know how to diagnose it. I had to pay $89 for this. Instead of having the right person come out, I had to to actively call again to get someone else to come out. The 2nd tech diagnosed the issue, but wants to charge me the same $89 that I already paid. - and quotes me $380 for the repair - and has to order the part. I agree and then call back the next day to confirm part is on order - and they tell me the charge is $1,015. I asked to speak to a manager to discuss, and no one is available and no one calls me back. I bought the replacement part from a supply where house (confirming it works with my make/model of boiler) and it cost me $165. I have had other scheduling issues with them as well. I tried their plumbing service once, guy just had to replace two outside valves, there was some issue and they sent someone else, it was a simple fix. these guys are crooks! they charged $400 for a capacitor that sells on the internet for under $40. they also jacked up the price of a relay 10fold. When I called, they said the price was high because it was under warranty. what crap! the old capacitor lasted 8 years so it is unlikely that it will need to be replaced in the near future. read more

As I have read from other negative reviews, Henderson is unwilling to do the maintenance when scheduled. They have cancelled on me 5 or 6 times this heating season, which includes 3 in the month of January. I bought a new heat pump from them in April of 2021. They are so frustrating. I was concerned that there might be something wrong with my heat pump. My first floor seemed cool, and I wanted it checked out before it got really cold. So, I made an appointment, and Gus came out. He was awesome! He thoroughly checked out the inside as well as the outside units. He told me everything was working as it should, and I likely had the temperature set too low. I told him I was trying to save money, and he said that two or three degrees was not going to make that much difference monetarily, but it would made a marked difference in my comfort. We had a water heater issue that didn't seem to be an emergency so we had a plumbler come out the next day. Steven came out on time and was very professional and clean the whole time he was in our home. He did a great job of explaining what could have lead to our issue and what he recommends to prevent it from happening again. He was able to get parts sent out to him while he started working, so he was able to finish our job quickly in just one visit. Steven went over all the work and anything he recommended we keep up with in the future. Overall the experience was great and I'll definitely keep Henderson in mind next time we have a plumbing problem needing solved. read more

My heat went out on a Saturday. Henderson was here the same day. Although they couldn't find the problem in the zoning, they made sure that I had heat through the entire house and came back Sunday. (all for $89.00) They did find the problem it was the zone control. I google the part and for a four zone system the part alone was $900.00 + labor + dampers.....I didn't ask Henderson for an estimate and since my system was 22 yrs old, I decided against putting that kind of money into it. I ordered a new system. Price was good for a Lennox furnance and a brand new 4 zone heating system plus new dampers. All guaranteed for 10 yrs!!!!! parts and labor for 5 and parts for 5. Everyone was so nice. Workers cleaned up. put drop cloths down and answered every question. Couldn't ask for better. read more

Their Technician Christian came out and gave me a quote after taking measurements to replace old oil heater and Central A/C outside unit. He called his base and we spoke with Customer service representative Diana, and both of them were excellent. The snag was when I was notified a Sales person would be giving me an estimate for a price, and as 3pm came and gone a voicemail was left at 4pm that they were not coming. Two other times voicemail left they wanted to set up another appointment that day. So I waited from 1:30pm to 7:30pm and nobody came. Since that day haven't heard from them. We have used Henderson on and off for years, for both Heating & Cooling and also general plumbing. In the past, service was variable -- some of their plumbers were amazing and conscientious, and some did work that was sloppy and created new problems. They were also always on the expensive side. The positive was that that they couldn't typically come out fast to do an emergency job, and they usually would correct things at their own expensive if something went wrong. That changed this Dec. (2022). I have been told Henderson was bought out by a larger company. They came to our house to fix one hydronic heat zone that didn't work. The plumber charged us over $750 and did not fix the issue at all -- the heat zone still didn't work! Right as he was about to leave, and after we already paid, we insisted he come back inside. He did some draining of the system to get air bubbles out. Then it worked, but he did not check how his draining and purging affected the other zones. Unfortunately his draining messed up another zone of our house, and that other zone started not getting full heat. It apparently had new air bubbles. Then we had the cold spell and that other zone froze and burst because the pipes were not fully getting ample hot water. We ended up spending Christmas Day sopping up water to protect our floors, and Henderson refused to take any responsibility. They gave us a quote 80% higher than another plumber to restore heat with a temperorary connection. We had to do $1500 in repairs ourselves between house damage and the temporary repair on the radiator, and will need to spend more for a new radiator. I would not use them again, for any reason. read more

WM HENDERSON PLUMBING BROOMALL, PA I recently needed a plumber because my house boiler's pilot light would go off every day or two, needing to be relit by me. I'd seen quite a few of "WM Henderson Plumbing" trucks and decided to give them a try. A young man examined my boiler and after saying it didn't look like anything was wrong took another look by pulling out the thermocouple (a short straw-size, vertical protrusion) and the pilot light and pronounced that the proximity of the two to each other was the cause of my boiler's on-and-off-again problem. The thermocouple has to be close enough (yet, not too close) to the pilot light to heat properly and, thereby, via proper signaling, keep the boiler going. My boiler's thermocouple was slightly out of range, i.e., not being hugged enough by the pilot light, and maybe not sensitive enough (I was told); thus, his cleaning/"sanding" it with a folded dollar bill. But that didn't work. I was told I needed a package that would solve this problem and it would cost $521 total. And that would be on top of this $85 diagnostic visit. I asked, "Why don't you just adjust the thermocouple via bending it closer to the pilot light?" His response: "It can't be bent." I declined the install in order to seek a second opinion, and it just so happened, not from another plumber but from a plumbing-knowledgeable chess club friend about a week later, after a few more pilot light outages. My chess friend--who doesn't like plumbing costs either--looked the situation over and told me that he would very slightly bend the thermocouple closer to the pilot light. "But the plumber said it couldn't be bent," I informed him. "Nonsense," he answered, "it can be SLIGHTLY bent and that's all you need." To make this story short: The boiler has been working fine for three weeks straight without turning off--and I saved $521! Moral: Attractive and clean trucks do not mean the service is going to be what you expect. read more

We were customers for 10 years but no more. Although they have always charged high prices, we thought that they were at least honest but they flat out lied to us during our last service call. Our heater (that we purchased from them) stopped working in 22 degree weather. They came the next day and diagnosed a faulty blower motor. The part was under warranty but we would be charged for labor - $788 which seemed high. My husband called the service department and was told it would take 3 to 3.5 hours to repair which made the price seem a little more reasonable. The service manager even offered to apply a $50 coupon to the total bringing it to $728. What a great guy right?? The technician arrived the next day and completed the repair in less than one hour. I have since found out that there is no way that repair would EVER take 3 hours. The service manager lied to us and took advantage of the fact that we were without heat for 4 days in 20 degree. We were essentially charged $728 an hour for labor. They also have a neat trick where they provide you a bill that simple says, "Heater repair". No breakdown of charges or time spent at all. Nice. So goodbye, William Henderson. After 10 years, a sewer pipe replacement, repairs for a rental home oil burner, many yearly checkups and a new heating system, we will be finding a new heating company. Made an appointment on line for next day service and provided a confirmation email. Received another email stating my phone number was incorrect asking for a call back. Called the number and it went to vm stating to say on the line waited finally hung up and put another request in . Received a call back telling me that they only handle emergencies on weekends. Explained that I had no power in my kitchen but other areas of the house ok. I have to wonder who calls an electrician on a weekend if it is not an emergency. We checked several things before calling. If this business's customer service is this bad, I have to wonder about their technicians. The easiest fix is to place a disclaimer on the website defining what an electrical emergency is which may cut down on the calls. Quite obviously they lost a customer. read more

Henderson made an appointment to return and apply a permanent fix. They called and rescheduled it for two days later, but fortunately, that was OK as I work out of my home. While they were here, we also had them install a new replacement toilet. Crew was efficient, communicated well, and left the job clean. Here are just a few quotes from the last conversation I had with a man called Jackson. Is this his first name? His last? I wouldn't know because he wouldn't tell me. When I asked for my issue to be escalated he also wouldn't tell me the name of his manager or who he was contacting. He actually flat out said I'm not telling you who I'm contacting and when/if they will even call you back. . .. and... no one called me back. My guess is he contacted no one. The alternative to that is worse, because it means he did contact someone, and they were as dismissive as he was and didnt even bother to call me. "You can keep telling me all you want, but I Dont know what to tell you." "You can't prove that we did this." The part was ordered, I paid the charge 89.99. On the second visit I was told now the compressor no longer worked and now I need a new central AC and I should also get the heater replaced for a total of 23,222.00 at 9,99% If I would to agree the day they sent the sales person. 0 stars if I was able to. WM Henderson was hired by the seller of the home I purchased to service the furnace. They completed the service at the end of October issuing a report that the 30 year-old furnace was fully serviced and in working order. Upon running the furnace for the first time after their service we were not getting heat to the 2nd floor radiators. Having worked closely with a plumber in the past I knew I likely just had to bleed the radiators. I checked the T&P boiler gauge first to see if adequate pressure was being applied. The gauge was reading close to 0 which led me to believe I need to add water to the system. Upon doing so a little bit at a time the expansion tank sprung a leak almost within minutes. At this time, I delineated that the culprit must have been a faulty T&P boiler gauge because there was no change on the gauge throughout this process of adding water and springing the leak. I called WM Henderson to come out as they were the ones to sign off on a fully functioning furnace. I told the dispatcher I had water spraying out of my expansion tank which was all a domino effect from having a faulty T&P gauge despite the system just having been inspected. The dispatcher agreed that invoice for the initial service made no mention of a T&P reading even been taken at the time of the service so he had no problem waving what would have been a $95 service call. The technician, Brandon, showed up (in a timely manner) but was extremely rude and dismissive. I had turned the emergency switch off to the furnace (due to the leak) which he immediately switched back on and said "it's wasn't working because the switch was off". Clearly the issue I was having hadn't been communicated properly between the dispatcher and the technician otherwise he would have known not to restart the system. Once he recognized what had happened he told me that he didn't have an expansion tank or a T&P gauge with him so he couldn't fix it but he would write up a work order. I mentioned to him that I would be seeking WM Henderson to cover the cost of the repairs as it was them that failed to notate a faulty T&P gauge. His response was "we never notated those faulty gauges because they are always faulty on furnaces this old." I followed up with the office on Monday morning. I gave the administrative assistant a recount of these events and she said that the call was recorded and that her service manager would review it in a few hours. Eric, the service manager, responded in a timely manner and heard the same recount of events. He acknowledged and took ownership that the technician, Joe, who performed the initial service had likely made an oversight in reporting the faulty T&P gauge. I also told him what Brandon had told me about technicians not notating these kind of issues and Eric responded by saying that he would speak to Brandon about that because that is not acceptable by company standards. At this point I believe that Eric and I are on the same page about WM Henderson covering the repairs due to this series of missteps by their employees...but I was very wrong. He said despite all of that WM Henderson was not taking responsibility for repairing the furnace at no cost. He said he was happy to refund the seller what they paid for the service because it was not completed to satisfaction but that was as far as he would go. $59 refund to a person that no longer owns the property and is not at all effected. Instead he was insistent that I should pay $494 for the expansion tank replacement, $371 for the T&P boiler gauge replacement, and & $530 to drain and refill the system. None of these invoices listed out the cost for the parts & labor. Just one line item for the job. Supply houses sell the expansion tank I need for $30 - $45. This means the labor they would like to charge is over $400. And if you do a simple internet search on replacing an expansion tank or just look at the tank itself you will see that this price for labor is astronomically expensive. Would likely take a 'skilled HVAC technician' as Eric described them, a half hour at the most. Supply houses sell a T&P boiler gauge for $10 - $21. This means the labor they charge is over $300. The system is already drained due to the 10 gallons of water I removed in buckets because of the leak, but they want to charge $530 to drain and refill the system. I ended up telling Eric that I felt that the owner of the company would be very disappointed if he knew how his service department was representing him and that I'd really like to hear from him on the matter. Eric told me that he'd leave the paperwork on his desk but it was unlikely that the owner would return my call. Overall, and to say the least, WM Henderson should be ashamed. Through their actions (or lack thereof) they have accepted that if their technicians do not fulfill their duties it will be, not only tolerated, but defended and accepted. Please seek other options at all costs. read more

My furnace broke (8 years old) but had two years left in the parts warranty. They convinced me to buy a new one. Since then it has broken twice a winter - now on the 3rd winter. Basically every time them temperatures go into the 20s it breaks and we are stuck freezing - one time for 4 days in freezing temps we had no heat. I've had to have them come at least six times to keep working on it. They do not seem capable of solving and either sold me a lemon or don't know how to install furnaces properly. read more

I had a punch list of things that needed to be done. My first concern was a drain fly problem in my basement. Dan Mc Carthy responded to my call they same day. He walked my punch list, took notes, and then took on what was my biggest challenge, really a NIGHTMARE. He crawled in the crawl space to assess my problems and determined I had a cracked pipe from the kitchen underground leading to the sewage pipe. He spent about 2 hours at my appointment. Before I knew it, he had everything rolling for me. Called ahead to let SERVE PRO know i would be calling to set up an appointment to clean up the mess in the crawl space. He then set up an appointment to fix my pipe and take care of my punchlist. Amazing! He even remembered my 97 year old mother and asked how she was. Personable, professional, and response time was exceptional. You're crazy to go anywhere else. read more

I called them about my leaking outside spigot on Monday and it was fixed Tuesday morning. They had to cut a whole in my wall and add a shut off valve in very tight quarters. The put a cover on it so it looks nice. They were pricey but I'm happy the work is done. read more

I engaged Henderson over another plumber because they advised me that their price included fixtures which the other plumber did not. Henderson was prompt. Their work was excellent. But - they worked their way around the fixtures that I requested. I wanted a soaking tub. They installed a regular tub. I wanted a specific hand held shower. They installed a fixed shower. I showed them samples from Kohler. They installed Moen. In fact, they seemed to have a thing going with Moen. Our furnace was working fine and then after these guys serviced it Thursday night. Unfortunately, Friday morning it stopped working. I called and was given appt for Saturday night at 6pm the next day!!! They made an appointment for 24 hours later!!! Then they came and took about five minutes to look at it and said it's because our furnace was too old they might not be able to get the part- not taking any responsibility for the "furnace not working?" They will be back Monday- to replace the nozzle.-Monday they sent a different service tech. who was able to fix the issue and able to talk me through different solutions instead of having to replace the entire unit. I was very frustrated that the unit stopped working and we had no hot water or heat for 3 days but I am glad they were able to come back and fix the issue. read more
