I'd more expect something like this in Japan, where the standard of modernization is 15 years ahead of the West. Well. You make your reservations, and they give you a door code. Don't try on getting in until the exact moment of check-in time. Even at check-in time the code didn't work, 'cos they forgot a line on the instructions printed on the door. Lucky the pleasant Owners were there to tip us off. It's a nice, old-style Motor Lodge. Single floor. No restaurant. No vending machines either. Make sure you get your beverages and snacks before returning to the Hotel. Your code is your key to get in the front door, AND to get in your room. The place is comfy and clean-the rooms were fine. Decent mattresses and pillows. No phones in the rooms, either. It's a little creepy, though, knowing there isn't a front desk. I didn't see anyone else other than the folks in our party, even though there were other cars in the lot. It's REAL quiet and still in the North North, weird for a city boy like me, but once you tamp down that wilderness anxiety, the clean air and forest vibe is a recipe for fine sleep. And, oh yes. Make sure you get your ass packed up and out of the place BEFORE the checkout time, 'cos your code will NOT work after that time. A strange but ultimately fine stay. Throwing 5... epilogue: Ignore the horseshit about the owners being rude,etc.. This is a small independent Hotel made for people to sleep and bathe in. It's not the Waldorf-Astoria. There is no concierge, and no one to be a servant for you. There's no on-site staff to answer your whims. It's pretty bare-bones and there are charges for the few frills available. Slow down, go with the flow, read the rules (they're posted right when you walk in) follow them, and you'll have a good night's rest. The Owners are good decent folks,

I've stayed on spider, clear and rest lakes but this is the best so far, the cabins are clean and well maintained, somewhat rustic due to the lack of a/c and TV, but hey that's what we come here for. The family that owns the resort sends us a Christmas letter every year to keep us updated on the happenings around town and they are always available to help guests out when needed around the resort. Included in the price of your cabin you get a very nice aluminum row boat and in case you don't have an engine or boat you brought with, outboard engines are available to rent at a fair and reasonable price to get you going around the lake. Wild rice is the perfect lake for a vacationing family because it is never crowded and due to the fact the local indian reservation owns 75 percent of the frontage on the lake it is always quiet with little to no boat traffic, great for skiing and water fishing. I definitely recommend this resort for families wanting a relaxing escape but also priced reasonably enough for any group of friends seeking a get away. Book early! Reservations sometimes fill up a year in advance and they have been in business since the 40's!

Notified desk. No alternative room offered. On two consecutive days, two different maintenance staff unable to repair; needed replacement, none available. Was working with a local realtor one morning at this unit's kitchen table when a person without knocking ENTERED ROOM, then, quickly left without a word. Numerous front desk visits and two phone calls by me after checkout over a two week period, found General Manager, Mr. B..., unavailable. On 9/4/2025, I received a return phone call from General Manager. Was told he and an Asst. Manager found lock on door of said unit operable and working. During my four night stay in the one bedroom unit nearing $400 per night for room and attached room fees with an inoperable interior security door lock, I was credited $25 per night ($100 total). I expressed compensation was inadequate. General Manager said he would look at interior lock again. If still inoperable, he would reconsider additional compensation. I requested a call back on his findings. Will add to this post at that time. (Note: This was my third stay at this resort over a fourteen month period.)

The grounds were well kept with a lot of activities to do just within the grounds itself. The cabin we stayed in had a great view of the lake and a screened in porch, which was great to relax on. Our cabin had a kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room area and was very clean and comfortable. The owners were also very personable and helpful with resort information as well as area information. Would definitely return to this resort.

The cabin was very clean and nicely accented with Northwoods touches. There was a guide book in the cabin that explained everything you could imagine doing in the area - a great resource! Each cabin has their own dock and campfire pit complete with comfortable adirondack chairs and free firewood. There is plenty of yard space for activities, and each cabin has a picnic table and charcoal grill. We were able to spend time on the water using the kayaks, canoes, and rowboats that are available at the resort. The resort is located close to town - just a few miles from Manitowish Waters. The resort has a variety of bikes available to guests, so we grabbed some one morning and biked into town to enjoy coffee at the local coffee shop. Manitowish Waters also has a grocery store and lots of great restaurants. The area is also known for its bike trails - there is a scenic, winding (and paved!) bike trail that runs through Manitowish Waters that you can take to the nearby town of Boulder Junction and beyond. Our experience was superb! The cabin is a great value for the location and quality. Would highly recommend as an awesome place to bring your whole family to make great memories. So many activities and fun things to do! We are already planning our return visit. Make your reservations early because they do book up quickly.
