I am the semi-proud owner of a semi-ancient 97 Jetta. I purchased the little she-animal 10 years ago when she was but a child with 65k miles to her credit. Lo, these many years later, she is a mature, only slightly cantankerous, no nonsense senior citizen with a hard earned 249k on her resumè.
The general car-owning population, particularly those of the Volkswagen/Audi orientation (we were mostly born this way), can attest to the horror that is vehicle repair/maintenance. Often we are at the mercy of the (insert derogatory stereotypical depiction here) closest guy with a wrench and a grease rag. We shuffle in, eyes on the floor, mumble appropriate yessirs, assume the position, and go to our happy place whilst innocence is purged and destroyed. Therapy, rehab, and repeat.
Witmer's Garage was recommended to me by a friend about 8 years ago and I owe him my non-existent first born child. Salt of the earth, that's what these guys are - the proverbial exception to the proverbial rule. Of course not all mechanics are swept up in the unfair broad brush I used above. However, Witmer's makes even decent service facilities look a bit Tony Soprano. Friendly, courteous, honest, fair, conscientious, and thorough. They practice the kind of business that would make Ghandi proud.
Yes, this review borders on creepy worship, but if you have had the experience of watching your kids' inheritance go toward frivolous and unnecessary repairs ('gosh darn it, mr dude, you got a broken fromicterater and a loose quasimawhitcher. It'll only take your youth and the price of a golden kidney to replace. If you don't fix it, your car will explode within 6 minutes of leaving our nasty facility/cave/bunker and you will die') you realize the value of an honest, fair mechanic. In short, that's what these guys are. I am a satisfied customer and you will be, too. read more
