Compassionate, empathetic, caring and all the other words cannot express how happy I am to have found Dr Fergus and his assistant Gabby. I am terrified of the dentist after a traumatic experience when I was young. This office is fantastic. They listen and respond with appropriate interventions that would make a toothless person whistle with ease. I so appreciate their patience with my anxiety and the work was painless. Even after prepping for the crown, the next day the tenderness was minimal. They keep the office dimly lit which is calming. Highly recommend! read more

I very recently moved from out of state and needed a crown on one of the two root canals I had done before leaving on my trip The other root canal was on the tooth that had a badly placed veneer done years ago in the same state (Island) that had caused me constant pain that I learned to live with. Following the root canal, the veneered tooth was even more sensitive. Being that I needed a crown (not on my head) but on the tooth, and being new to the area and not knowing anyone, I felt somewhat overwhelmed. After making several phone calls and doing my due diligence in researching all possibilities, it was my good fortune to have found Dr. Fergus at Wisener, Cooper & Fergus Dental Clinic. From the get-go in making the appointment I felt welcomed and appreciated the effort that was taken in double checking my insurance coverage and clearly going over the protocol with me. Upon check-in, I could tell this was a professional and well-organized clinic. Dr. Fergus immediately solved the minor issue with the veneer tooth that most probably didn't need a root canal in the first place. For years other dentists had overlooked and had not noticed the veneer was too long and had been hitting on the above tooth causing pain. He simply filed it down and I can already tell the difference. Dr. Fergus prepped the tooth that needed to be crowned. What a huge difference from the experience I'd had from previous other dentists. Rebecca was so patient and did a great job with my x-rays. Alicia who did my teeth cleaning is the best. Both technicians took their time and this by far was the very best and thorough teeth cleaning I'd ever had. As a senior and having had much work done on my teeth, they are not in the best cosmetic state. I appreciated that Dr. Fergus and his staff did not try to upsell me on dental cosmetic procedures (which I could of course use.) They addressed the issue at hand. I am terrified of going to the dentist. This office was recommended when I needed to go for an emergency procedure (because I had put it off so long). I had a tooth extracted and a bone graft. I felt NO pain and everyone was so nice and attentive. They knew about my anxiety and took extra care to keep me comfortable. I had great insurance back when I went in to have Dr. Fergus do some work on my front teeth. They had a problem with the material they were using during the procedure, and one tooth didn't match the other in color. About 2 months later, a piece of the bonding material broke off, and left an ugly discoloration on my front tooth. I went back not once, but 3 different times, to have it redone, only for it to happen again. After the final attempt, he told me there was nothing he could do, and that I would basically have to just accept it the way it was. Its embarrassing and people are always asking me what is wrong with my tooth, or they tell me I have something on them. Apparently, he has no way of fixing it, or just doesn't want to mess with it. I've had to change jobs since, and now I don't have dental insurance, so I'm stuck with poor dental work. At this point, I'm left trying to find another dentist who will correct what was done incorrectly. Very very frustrating. read more

This is my first yelp review which I am writing with great distress. I have been seeing Dr. Wisener since I relocated to NWA 11 years ago from Scottsdale, AZ. This is a dentist that truly wants to maximize revenue per patient. When you start with Dr. Wisener he develops a treatment plan for you. My plan was over $5000+ and his staff will religiously contact you to ensure you are making appointments to utilize all of your dental insurance toward you treatment plan. This process was a little off putting - something I had not encountered from my Scottsdale dentist. The next disconcerting process Dr. Wisener employs is his dental hygienist will sit your crowns, not the actual dentist. But your dental insurance will be billed for the dentist time. Herein lies the problem, his hygienist are going to sit the crown, regardless. One of the crowns he prepped and his hygienist completed gave me immediate problems. My gums around the crown would swell, it would bleed profusely when I flossed, it was sensitive to hot/cold, it would hurt when I bit down on it - it was not working. I complained and brought it to his attention at my half-yearly hygienist appointments. In your 6 months appointments, Dr. Wisener comes in and reviews the hygienist work and I would mention it to him during that time. This process went on for two years. Dr. Wisener referred me to Endodontics, but the tooth already had a root canal. Dr. Wisener would tell me "Well the nerve needs to settle down, it is difficult to tell if you are going to need a root canal prior to placing the crown." He made that statement even though the tooth had a root canal. I got the impression Dr. Wisener was waiting until the time had passed as required by my insurance to treat the same tooth again. The crown broke off a week ago and I made appointment to see Dr. Wisener. At my appointment, I explained to Dr. Wisener that this was the tooth I was complaining about for the last two years. When he examined my tooth he informed me that the tooth had fractured and I would need to remove the tooth and either get a dental implant (+$4,000) or a bridge. He said he would have the cost drawn up for both. I reminded him that this crown had bothered me from the beginning. I asked him if it was possible the tooth was fractured when the crown was placed since I had an immediate discomfort. He said he did not know. I stated I felt my oral health was declining since I had started seeing him 11 years ago. I reminded him of the dentist he referred me to whom inadvertently cracked my tooth and it had to be removed and a dental implant or bridge placed. He replied, "Here is what I am going to do for you. I am going to make a list of everything I did for you and every person I referred you to, but I am not going to stand here and listen to you tell me your oral health has declined since you started seeing me. What you need to understand is that there is this thing called ageing, our bodies age, our teeth aged..." I let him proceed for about another paragraph before I interrupted him and stated "what you need to understand, is I do not need a lecture on aging". Dr. Wisener walked out of the room refusing to treat the tooth. I took off my dental bib, walked to the front desk, and politely requested that my records be completely and promptly sent to my new dentist. The dentist office called to let me know I left my crown behind and did I want it. No apology for failure to treat a patient or failure to de-escalate a difficult situation. I have never encountered anything like this before in or out of the medical field. I will be submitting my complaint to the Arkansas board of dentistry. read more
