Still on hold.

Oh my goodness. What an experience. This practice was recommended to me by my OB/GYN after my beloved PCP retired and I was looking for a new PCP. I think the Wiseman name used to carry a lot of weight in Austin? Used to, anyway. The practice is a little strange in that it seems to be a handful of NPs and one doctor, the aforementioned Wiseman. I am not sure if he's ever in the office, but his name is on the door. As a new patient, I was placed with Janice Mattocks. She was kind and responsive when we would meet, but getting to meet/talk to her was a near impossibility with the almost aggressive obstruction of the front desk. It was like Jekyll and Hyde. I would have a caring discussion with Mattocks who would tell me, "I don't work Fridays but I always build in admin hours. Please call the front desk and tell them to send me a message so we can figure out the combo of meds that work for you. Or send a message through the portal!" And then...the wall of resistance would fall on me. No, the front desk staff would tell me, we do NOT send messages to doctors. Or, "I have a new girl at that location who doesn't know how to do anything yet. Please go through the portal." I know to expect wait times and delays when I call a doctor's office, but a wait time of 45 mins to 1 hour is ROUTINE for this practice. It's almost impossible to get someone to answer the phone, and when the front desk does pick up the phone, they are rude and condescending and will tell you to take every request to the patient portal. Oh and guess what? Messages and refill requests submitted through the patient portal are answered even more slowly than the phone. I have had messages ignored and the ones that were answered were curt and often full of incorrect information. I had the misfortune to have a herniated disc a week ago, which was excruciating and something I'd never experienced before. I fought the long phone wait times at Wiseman for an appointment, and when I finally got it, was given Tylenol III and sent home with a diagnosis of general back pain. However, I knew something was really wrong with me, so I fought the long wait times on the phone again and begged them to submit orders for an MRI to ARA. After another day of pain and no sleep, orders were submitted, and I got the MRI. I also asked for a referral to a physical therapist, which was granted, and the PT showed me the MRI scan the day after I had been scanned. It took Wiseman 2 days to send me the results. The MRI scan clearly showed a herniated disc and nerve compression. No wonder I was in so much pain. I would not recommend this practice due to the incompetence of the front desk. The nurse practitioners seem kind, but they are kept under lock and key and you won't get to talk or see them very often so what is the point? Please, for your health and sanity, look elsewhere.

All of the staff are extremely nice and thorough. Their goal is to find the cause, not just treat the symptom.

Been going there for more than 10 years, easy to get a response on patient portal for refills and referrals. Nice office staff and PAs/NPs.

Both members of the staff I've seen for the first time were rude. I'm a new patient and can't see sticking around for rude staff.

I love the integrative approach. I also appreciate that we can do Telehealth - but it is tough to get a quick appointment.

I typically try not to review businesses of people I have a personal connection to, but I'd be remiss NOT to let the community know about the incredible service Cat provides. As a former health care professional and alternative healer, I can be...well...selective when it comes to seeking help for myself. Much in the same way a professional chef holds a few other chefs in high regard, or the way a lawyer or doctor will trust very few in their profession to help resolve their own issues. This is how I regard Cat. I can count on one hand the number of practitioners that I trust enough to take care of my health issues. Cat's knowledge and professionalism are unparalleled. I recently came to see her for a chronic pain issue that stemmed from a traumatic injury which occurred while deployed. DURING the treatment, I could feel the pain level decreasing. The most important characteristic of a truly gifted healer is the ability to adapt the treatment style and modality to the patients needs. Cat has this talent. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone in need of healing. I have no qualms about placing my well-being in her hands...and neither should you.

Nice clean and quiet office and she explained everything really well. Will be back!

I don't know how long I would have been spiraling without her help. She not only helps target the root cause of your symptoms, but she's such a supportive ear in any season of life. She's incredibly understanding, encouraging, and honest. She's also treating my son for eczema and we've seen such an improvement. It's been pretty amazing to watch the changes in his skin overtime. I also had a cyst in my eye that doctors wanted to remove surgically. To avoid that terrifying thought, I went to Marianne and she gave me a remedy that not only shrunk the cyst within a week, but also helped get rid of some toxic thoughts that were circling in my head that I haven't had in a very long time which was also a sign of my eye symptom. I'm always in awe at the process of homeopathy and I wouldn't choose anyone else to take care of my family. If you're looking for a holistic way to care for your health, try Austin Naturopathic!

I'm sorry, but I knew more about my condition than he did. The front office wasn't much better. Prices varied wildly for the nutritional IV services and the push to overpay for their supplements was strong. I finally gave up. It was very clear that money was the entire goal of these visits. This organization is a total scam and obviously doesn't care about their patients. It's very sad and disheartening that they can charge so much for people suffering with illnesses and take advantage of their patients.

Before I met Lauryn, I had already seen Naturopaths and Functional Medicine practitioners. I'm…read morepretty savvy myself when it comes to health and consider myself a "research queen", so it was devastating when my health issues weren't solved. I knew Lauryn was different from the moment I met her. She filled the holes in ways that previous naturopaths and functional medicine practitioners had not been able to fill. With Lauryn, I finally realized I was trying to do "all the right things" while still doing many wrong things for my specific needs. Things like taking the right probiotic, eating more "hydrating, colorful" foods with more healthy fats and less raw veggies, SWEATING and moving almost every single day... Things I had either lost sight of or didn't realize I was doing "wrong". No wonder it felt like I was banging my head against a wall. Concerning past gut treatment protocols for SIBO/Candida, I was doing it all wrong before!! For example, I learned that taking biofilm disrupters are necessary for successful treatment. And I learned that eating a healing diet for the lining of my small intestine was crucial DURING the treatment phase (not merely AFTER). Lauryn helped me gain new perspective on the lymph and immune systems, and it was a game changer. My unexplained hair loss and swollen lymph nodes suddenly made more sense as I realized how those systems connected to adrenal and gut health. A few additional points highlighting Lauryn's unique approach: 1. Lauryn helps open your eyes to what you "can" enjoy as new foods, habits, lifestyle, and activities...instead of focusing on what you "can't" have or do. Replacement is key to success! When I told her that I just wanted to kill whatever pathogenic activity was going on in my gut, she confidently reinforced "I'm going to help you LOVE on your gut". She definitely helped me with a big mental shift, leaving me reevaluating my former hatred towards my body and its temporarily dysfunctional systems. 2. Lauryn goes in the proper order for treatment/healing protocols--Working on foundational items FIRST and then addressing secondary issues, so as not to overwhelm the body with treatment phases and struggle more than necessary. 3. Lauryn stays up to date with the latest research. As in, "which probiotic formulas just got changed with different strains of probiotics". These are critical details that many doctors/practitioners can't or don't pay attention to. That's a huge benefit of working with a fellow research queen like her! 4. Because of the way her programs are structured, she is able to spend more time with her patients than the average doctor/practitioner. The accountability is INVALUABLE. Quality over quantity makes all the difference! I have learned SO much more with Lauryn than I ever expected to know. I'm on a whole new level!! I am steadily healing. And I have full confidence that I will heal completely, just as Lauryn reminds me to train my subconscious brain and pituitary gland: "You WILL heal". I can't recommend Lauryn enough.
