I was up at a friend's cabin nearby and when the weather changed to rain, we stopped into Buffalo for some antique shopping. Buffalo Nickel was our first stop and no other store compared. Buffalo Nickel goes on and on and on. There are 2 levels and it can take some time to sort through all the goodies. There are adorable whimsy baby items, seasonal sections such as fall and Halloween, shoes, coffee cups, wall decor and more. You name it and they probably have it. Make sure to factor in extra time as to thoroughly go through each vendor, do expect to comb through items. I also appreciated the little coffee stand near the cashier with various baked goods. The prices were fair. I can't wait to return!! Open daily 10 am until 6 pm. I don't think the building has air conditioning so it was a little toasty. Some of the upstairs windows were open for ventilation.

As we were downstairs looking around, one of the ladies (short hair and striped top) came down and ducked around the corner watching us. I knew what she was doing but chose to ignore her hoping my kids wouldn't know what she was doing. We did find 3 lead soldiers and asked for help, the ladies at the counter told is they would be right with us. We stood there for about 5 or more minutes until someone finally came to help us...apparently they all needed to help one customer. We bought our items and left. My two kids pointed out in the car to me that they knew the lady in the striped top was watching us. There were plenty of other customers also shopping but she decided to follow and watch us. No thanks. This is the last time we'll ever come here. There are plenty of other antique shops around that don't do this to us. We love antique shopping. It's sad too, as we live in Elk River.

The three levels are laid out well and you are not cramped walking through there. Never an old musty smell or tons of junk. I have bought many things here over the years from old fireplace mantles, to upcycled gifts, a midcentury drink cart, Vintage Pyrex, and even Cutco knives. Their other shops in St Paul, St. Louis Park, and Stillwater are open 7 days a week. Every time I come here there are constantly changing and exciting treasures to look at and find. Many times they offer complimentary wine or refreshing beverage to sip on while you peruse the store- how fun! On my most recent visit they had an open house of the "Makers Cottage" next door- a beautifully custom designed home with several rooms and an inviting deck available to rent for events or overnights or what have you. They also host an annual vintage market at the end of the summer in the backyard/field with many other vendors. Very limited parking in the driveway of the building mostly for loading items into your car. Just plan to park on the street unless you come close to closing time. My son and my daughter wanted items and were told that the staff will hold on to it, these items were not locked up. My son bought an item and was told they will lower it to $10 but instead charged him $19. We have thrifted and antique shopped from Duluth all the way to Winona, we are local and decided to try this place for the first time and definitely the last. While you were busy following us thinking just because we are POC, we would steal, Dick and Jane over there were probably stealing. FYI, POC people like to thrift and antique shop too. I have never had this happen, this is the first time, which is just disgusting as we are locals. I'd much prefer the Antique 101 or Elk River Antique. Our POC money is just as good as a white persons. You don't have to follow us because of our skin color.

We did get a partial delivery tonight and when I called about our sofa she told me that we wouldn't get it before Thanksgiving but I called her out on it. I told her exactly what she told me on my drive to Duluth and she backtracked. I know people are human and make mistakes but I do NOT tolerate empty promises and being blamed for it. We moved into a new house and need more furniture. We will never step foot in this store again!!!
