It was a little confusing because behind/beside Wade Stadium are several other fields which, at the time we arrived, were also being used for softball games. Ample parking is available in the lot that is surrounded by these fields. Once parked, we walked to and around the brick wall and found the official entrance for Wade Stadium and the home of the Duluth Huskies. We watched the home team win a good game while surrounded by a supportive local community. I bought a travel mug because the proceeds go to the Wade Stadium Renovation Project. The concession stands didn't have anything that really stood out. The team store had all your essentials. The stadium itself is currently a work in progress so it doesn't seem fair to be too harsh in judgement. I do like supporting local baseball clubs and would gladly return to Wade Stadium after renovations.

The Head Coach Daniel Hersey of the Huskies called me back and was very informative on how to get tickets, the handicapped accessibility, and how I would be able to sit together with my family. We went on a Sunday June 2nd, 2013 for the Family Pack, you get 4 hot dogs, 4 small sodas, and 2 popcorns for $30.00 on home games. But, we needed an extra ticket for KayMarie with the food options, as well. Head Coach Daniel Hersey said they would charge $10.00 extra for the ticket and food. When we got to the gate to purchase our tickets and mentioned that we needed an extra ticket with the food, it took them awhile to completely understand what we needed. I even told them that the head coach called me and that is the price he said. They charged us the extra $10.00, and we were in. The gate entrance was easily handicapped accessible, I was in my large chair which is bigger than the standard 32" chair. We didn't know where to go for the handicapped seating. The staff were kind, but they would just point directions. It would have been nice to have been ushered, since this was our first time here. We got to the handicapped seating, and there were steps that I had a hard time getting passed. A standard chair would fit just fine, but my chair had to be angled just right to get through. People had to wait for me to get through. They were kind, but I got a bent wheel out of it. The handicapped seating was right next to the teams dugout, which brought an added bonus for Christopher's and Jonathan's first experience at a baseball game. My family was able to sit with me in the handicapped seating area which was great. The Sunday we went, it was a Double Header, and staff had said there was going to be fireworks. But, there was not, which was a little disappointing. That's why we stayed for second game, but, in the long run, it was a long day. Another suggestion we have is having someone at the gate entrance directing visitors with kids to the information booth to sign up for the kids activity contests. Both Christopher and Jonathan asked where they could enter to try to win, we had to tell them that we were not sure. We did have a lot of fun watching the Huskies play and buying a baseball for the meet and greet at the end of the game. Jonathan got to meet the players, and had them sign the baseball. He was really excited to be that close to the players for his first time. It was hard to get the wheelchair through the grass to get to the players, because it was wet and muddy, but it was worth it. For a reasonable, fun time at the ballpark and to support our local team this is a STOP IN. This was my first visit for the purpose of volunteering at USA Swimming Junior National Championship. Parking can be a challenge for visitors. There is a nearby parking garage and very limited surface spaces. The area around the pool was clean. The building although dated to possibly the 70's is in great condition. The majority of the facility is the competition pool used by the University of Minnesota Swim team. The facility is nicely maintained. However, faculty and students can use the pool. The Olympic size competition pool is 50 meters with movable bulkhead, platform diving and well. The aquatic complex consist of approximately 145,000 gallons of swimming capability. The Long Course pool has eight lanes for competition.. The spectator area is expansive and spans the entire length of both sides of the pool and well. The public locker room area is large and pretty clean. There were two malfunctioning items. Great facility and hope to return for another event in the near future.

I would go as far to say that their services are better than Sydney's Olympic Park Aquatic Center. The Rec has honestly changed my life for the better. In my experience, the machines have always been clean and plenty to go around for everyone to work on any muscle or work on cardio. It can get a bit crowded at peak times; there's always space for everyone, even if you gotta wait a bit for a specific machine.

But also kind of a co-op? I feel like an outsider in the world of private tennis clubs... I'm not really sure how it works exactly. It's different in that the guy who was a member had keys and access to the courts anytime. Payment is on an honor system since there was no one at the front desk to kick you off the courts right when you're time is up. I can't find any information online to confirm this since they don't have a website, but that's my impression as a first-timer. There are five courts and they are all in great shape, even though the building, lobby and facilities are very dated. The lobby has some seating, refreshments and whatnot. No-frills and it is very, very hot on the courts. If I lived closer, I might consider looking into a membership here for the wintertime. All-access is pretty awesome.

There are some rare members that, for various reasons, have the privilege of having keys to the club, which is what Annie D. noticed in her 6/25/12 review. This is the oldest indoor tennis club in the twin cities, so you have to be a little understanding that the facility, by modern standards, is fairly basic. I practically grew up on these courts decades ago, so it will always have a place in my heart. This club is about value. It is very inexpensive, both in terms of the annual membership fee, as well as the hourly court fees. The courts have some very slight dead spots here and there (a lot of people don't even know about them), and, depending on the weather conditions, a couple times per year there is condensation that will drip from the ceiling and form small puddles that need to be wiped here and there. Those are facts. Given its age, the place is in pretty good shape. It's not Lifetime Fitness, but the members are pretty happy, and there is a long wait list to join.

There's a childcare center, work out floor, pool, hydrotherapy, and work out classes- not to mention they have partnered with Soul Bowl to offer a full service restaurant. We mostly use the pool, we attend water aerobics twice a week and love the instructions Dawn and Angelina. The indoor pool is heated, there's lap swimming and free swim during the week. The pool provides flotation devices, toys, towels, swim caps, and goggles if needed. They've really made it easy for people to access the pool. At least once a week there is also a women's only swim- honestly something for everyone. We haven't used the hydrotherapy pool but it looks really cool. There is a co-ed locker room with bathrooms and changing rooms. The workout center upstairs has a lot of equipment and weights- whatever you're looking for they most likely have it. There's also classes upstairs throughout the week (think yoga, strength training, soon to be Zumba). There is also a separate locker room upstairs that is divided for men and women. On the main floor is where you will find the childcare center, entrance to Soul Bowl and art that's been done my local artist. The front desk staff are friendly and always seem to remember your name which makes you feel like you're part of something. I know that they are looking to start phase two next year and we are eagerly awaiting the groundbreaking. If you're looking for a local spot to hangout and get in some exercise check this place out. It's a great option!
