UNQUALIFIED TO DIAGNOSE AND PERFORM CELL PHONE REPAIRS, AND UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES:…read moreI was compelled to spend money for a repair that did not solve the problem, they did not guarantee the work, and the phone was rendered completely useless after their work. They also led me to believe they have the definitive expertise to repair common phone problems by stating they knew how to fix it, ordering parts in advance and charging for the repair in full before the phone has been physically examined. They never told me the repair was at-risk and not guaranteed. They did not notify me BEFORE starting the repair of water damage that would have made repair impossible, so that I could have opted not to perform the repair. Instead they lured me in to have a useless repair performed on a phone that was unrepairable. 1) DIAGNOSIS: I called and asked about repairing my Moto Power G cell phone. During any call, callers could not hear me except when I put them on speaker (an inconvenience, but the phone could still be used). There were no other problems. Someone named Frank diagnosed the problem over the telephone, said they could repair, and decided on a process requiring a specific replacement part. They had not examined my phone, but I thought he knew what he was talking about. They ordered a part, I was charged in full for the part and repair, and was instructed to come in when it arrived, and be prepared to drop off my phone for a couple of hours. 2) FIRST REPAIR ATTEMPT: When the part arrived, I brought the phone in, and left it a couple of hours for them to repair with the replacement part. When I came back, the on-site tech disclosed that when they opened the case they found water damage. She did not at that time say the water damage was the cause of the speaker problem. She had already replaced the part. We tested the repaired phone, but it still had the SAME SPEAKER PROBLEM. At this point she said the part they ordered must be bad, and asked me to wait for another week for them to order a second replacement part. I took the phone home and it was fully functional except for the speaker problem. 3) SECOND REPAIR ATTEMPT: When the second replacement part came in, they called me in and installed the second replacement part. However, the problem was still not repaired, it had the SAME SPEAKER PROBLEM. On testing, there was now a NEW NON-CONNECTIVITY PROBLEM: the phone could not connect to the cellular network. She disassembled, checked the SIM, reassembled, and rebooted the phone, and it now appeared to have cellular access, so I left. However, within 5 minutes, the phone could not connect to the cellular network. I now had both the original problem and a NEW NON-CONNECTIVITY PROBLEM (rendering the phone useless for calls). 5) FINAL RESULT: I came back, and the tech now said the phone was beyond repair. I asked why she ever tried to replace a part on a water damaged phone that a knowledgeable technician would have known was unlikely to fix the problem. She did not have any response except that I had already paid for the repair, and repair fees are nonrefundable. So they diagnosed the phone and planned repair, ordered the part (twice), but when this did not correct the problem, and they THEN notified me the phone was unrepairable. I left without a solution and out my funds. My problem with them is that they diagnosed a specific problem over the telephone, but when they discovered the phone was water damaged BEFORE trying to repair it, did not tell me prior to starting repair, nor that the new part was unlikely to solve the speaker problem. I would have stopped them from performing any repair and would have requested a refund had I known. I feel deceived, though I'm a pretty knowledgeable person.
