So I have updated this review once before and I have to say my experience has not gotten much…read morebetter since. This is now year 7 of this battle, I believe last update was year 4. Updates: Husband is still injured, still no settlement, still going to doctors that are extremely far (by that I mean take anywhere from an hour to six hours, before traffic) and still no resolution in sight. We get calls from the doctors and the workers compensation people and set up appointments just to have Law at your Side call us the day before the appointment asking if we have made one and if so where. I understand again that an attorney or law firm takes on a lot of cases and may not be able to know everything going on but they also have case managers, assistants and other administrate people that work there and I would think that as a group they would be able to be a little more proactive. Its a very reactive group and maybe if you live close to them its different but thats the experience so far. I will say that the people are friendly for the most part so thats nice. Also, for those of you that have a workers compensation case, depending on the case and type of injury, you might have a "cap" of funds that you are allowed to receive. I tell you guys this to maybe help people not waste time trying to get "more" of a settlement when there isnt more funds available on the table. We asked another lawyer friend we had and found out that his case had a "cap" of funds allowable for his type of injury. I also dont understand the response from the business owner. I appreciate the response however, at that time I had emails unanswered from that same week as well as phone calls that did not receive call backs. Please dont make it sound like you are not at fault but understand the response as you are a lawyer and that is the go-to response. Deny what you cant admit and admit to what you cant deny I suppose. No need to respond to this as I think that might just frustrate me more in that its possible for someone to respond to a Yelp review but not to an actual client. I was already set to receive over $XXX,XXX after paying Cohens And Marzban to represent me in an auto accident. Cohen and Marzban talked me into dropping my original attorneys, BD&J, and sign with them only after BD&J worked hard to get my surgeries completed and kept income coming in to pay our mortgage. Cohen and Marzban claimed my wife was owed because of her loss of consortium and said BD&J never filed that. So they filed a legal malpractice on my wife's behalf. When settlement time came for my accident Cohen and Marzban refused to fight and told my wife and I that if we went to court to fight for my losses even if we won we would lose our house and have to file bankruptcy. I told them that the final payment to me just wasn't enough because I needed at least one more surgery and so Cohen and their mediator apparently came up with an idea to put $150k or more my wife's pocket if my wife signs a form immediately. When we pushed back asking for reasonable time to read over and understand Cohen said he has a fiduciary responsibility to look out for his clients and he would never do anything to jeopardize that. When it came time to disburse settlement Cohen claimed he never promised my wife a settlement from her case. Instead he took the entire lien amount that BD&J had in the case which was what Cohen said he would use to pay her $150k, but she had to sign immediately or the deal would be off the table. PLEASE, anything these two attorneys say to you force them to put it in writing. In fact I stopped taking their calls after Cohen lied claiming he never said he would pay my wife her settlement and instead took it all. Make them write anything they claim. And ALWAYS have another attorney review these attorneys contracts settlements, agreements and disbursements. I had to fight back against their BS disbursement sheet, they went through three of them because they were trying to hide money. I found an additional $2k they tried to take as fees and was able to recover that. We are still owed $14,000 from my disbursement that we showed them and they had no answer for yet still never paid that either. And the state bar is a complete joke. They literally made up reasoning for the attorneys thefts. If I could give a negative stars rating it would be a -5 stars.
