Dan Kasischke - State Farm Insurance Agent

Dan also has a really cool piece of StateFarm artwork made of wood in his front office. My wife and I kind of just sat there looking at it for 5 minutes. It's worth the trip just to see that. Dan himself was the notary and was extremely pleasant, like I said everybody was happy there. We spoke for a minute because my wife and I are from Texas and I know some agents in Texas. Surprisingly Dan had been with StateFarm for like 23 years and we knew some of the same people. After the chat, he verified our information and notarized our document. Too bad I'm in Texas or else I'd definitely want Dan's office handling my policies. Very professional and very ethical.

In particular, I have been dealing with state farm agent Terry Dunlap. What a great and fine gentleman that he is. Extremely knowledgeable and knows the business in and out. Although, I particularly wanted to deal with him. I was brushed off to a newer agent within the office. A little about the insurance business that you may or may not know is that the person whom you are often dealing with gets credit for the sale and policy that is written up. That's how they get paid. I support the long friendship and dealings with Mr. Dunlap but being pushed aside was very disheartening. Secondly, what disappoints me OVERALL with state farm is that if you call after hours, and or sometimes during office hours you can't get your answer right away. Which is really frustrating. When you get the 24 hour good neighbor service they are unable to answer your question and they have to pawn you back over to the agent and wait 24 hours for a response. I had Progressive insurance for about a year. Believe it or not, I was actually impressed that there was staff and knowledge over the phone and was able to follow through with all my requests. Makes me wonder if I should return to the competition.

I've been a loyal Allstate customer for over 35 years and had always enjoyed a positive…read morerelationship with my local agency--the Joseph Dunn Agency in East Lansing, Michigan. Sadly, my recent experience has completely shattered the trust I once had in both the agency and the company. After submitting a claim supported by a professional estimate of $7,200, Allstate approved only $1,300--without conducting a proper investigation or maintaining any meaningful communication. My contractor, who could have clarified the full extent of the damage, was initially ignored. Instead, I was forced to deal with a claims adjuster based in Texas--someone who never visited the property and made decisions from behind a desk, completely disconnected from the reality on the ground here in Michigan. Even more troubling, two separate employees at the Joseph Dunn Agency admitted that the claims office handling my case "never approves claims." If Allstate is aware of this pattern and continues to allow that office to process claims, it reflects a serious disregard for customer care. To add insult to injury, my once-responsive local agency stopped returning my calls. One employee said another would follow up and even indicated they might be able to help, but weeks passed with no response and that lead went cold too. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and disheartening. Allstate's slogan says you're "in good hands," but I've never felt more abandoned--especially by an agency I once trusted and respected. After decades of loyalty, I expected far better. I urge others to think twice before trusting Allstate with their coverage, or choosing the Joseph Dunn Agency. Eventually--after more than two months and repeated requests--Allstate finally sent someone to properly inspect the property using the right equipment. A third-party inspector (not employed by Allstate) used a drone to assess the damage to our 40+ foot barn and met with my contractor. Ironically, this inspector's estimate came in even higher than my contractor's original quote. Only then did Allstate finally pay the claim appropriately. The delay, however, left our barn exposed and in disrepair. We're now facing additional cleanup costs--like removing bird droppings--that aren't covered, on top of the long-overdue repairs. What should have been a straightforward claim turned into a drawn-out, stressful ordeal. I've since switched insurance providers, and it's been a huge relief. Knowing that now I'm truly in good hands if something catastrophic happens gives me real peace of mind.
