My general dentist thought I might have a periodontal problem which was causing some aching so he referred me here. The office staff are very friendly and I might go back just to hang out in the waiting room. It's very comfortable so my wife was able to hang out. The dental assistant was also friendly and professional and got me all set-up. Dr. Pontip Baillie was simply a delight. She explained everything as we went along and determined that I didn't have any periodontal issues and felt that an endodontist should be my next stop (i.e., I needed a root canal). There's an endodontist in the same office park but they weren't answering their phone so she had one of her staff members walk over and book me an appointment for the same day. A little history - 5 years ago I was referred to a different periodontist for gum recession under one tooth that was also covered by a bridge. That dentist did a gum graft over that area. Recently my primary dentist referred me to Dr. Tingey for another graft since the original one had effectively worn away, leaving that tooth looking just like it had before I got the graft. I am very grateful to Dr. Tingey because his more thorough exam revealed that the recession wasn't exposing the root of the tooth, but rather a composite filling on the root which was apparently put there to support the bridge above it (a long time ago). Therefor no root was exposed, and no graft was needed. Thanks VERY much for that excellent diagnosis. (Just one negative to this is that the graft I received 5 years ago was completely unnecessary! Not really nice to find out.)

When I explained this, instead of showing even a little bit of understanding, they immediately jumped to a $100 no-show fee. I told them I wasn't in a position to pay that given what I was dealing with, and they said they'd call me back to reschedule. They never did. Instead, I get a cold, corporate email saying I'm no longer welcome as a patient because I "refused to comply" with their policy. No conversation, no follow-up, no attempt to work anything out--just cut off. Let's be clear: life emergencies happen. The way a business responds to that says everything about them. This office chose zero empathy, zero communication, and total disrespect. What makes it worse is saying one thing (we'll call you to reschedule) and then doing the exact opposite behind the scenes. That's not just bad service--that's dishonest. If this is how they treat new patients over one emergency, I can't imagine how they handle anything more serious.
