The Market Place Post Office has a deceptive name as it located away from the main market place…read morearea and is actually found in the west end of the front street. It is very easy to find and is near to the TSB bank. There is a post box outside of the building. The building has a slight ramp up to the door which means easy access for prams and wheelchairs. The door is easy to open too. Inside there is a small area where you can queue. I find that because it gets so busy the queue is often trailing out of the front entrance. This makes entering and exiting very difficult. There is a stand selling cards for all occassions, a working photo booth and a children's bubblegum machine inside. There is also a wall mounted stand where you can get padded envelopes. If you need to write anything or fill out a form you can lean on the windowsill area. This is a bit awkward but there is usually a pen lying on the sill ready to be used. There are several booths where you can be served. I do find that the most staff here is usually two people and more often it is only one. This tends to mean long queues and waiting times. There are pens chained to the boothes and scales where you can weigh your post. The staff talk you through all transactions. I must say that some staff members are a little bit stern and bad tempered and sometimes just gesture instead of speaking. I find this a little rude and unpleasant. A busy, post office, the next nearest office is located next door to the Spar shop at Bedlington Station. Parking is available at street level or behind the front street in free carpark.

This branch of the Post Office is located in a type of newsagents in the intu Metrocentre, Europe's…read morelargest shopping and leisure centre. It surprisingly becomes slightly more and more common for a shopping centre to include a Post Office, mainly most of them tend to do them in a sort of newsagents format as we have seen at the intu Trafford Centre and Blackburn's the Mall Post Office being inside newsagents too. This store seems to have traditional really old Post Office decor around the counters and cluttered news agents, and, in all honesty, it isn't a really nice place, especially if you are forced to queue. The selection for basic essentials such as drinks in the newsagents part is very limited and the staff didn't seem too friendly either. Overall, this Post Office is in a good location being in the intu Metrocentre, but overall through its' location in a really cluttered, old fashioned newsagent, it makes visiting this store even more of a chore, something to dread even more which is a real shame, hence why this store deserves a single one star.

You can get served fast enough if…read moreyou're buying stationery items at the shop counter but when it comes to sending mail (from about 16 different staff), you'll be there all day. Last year I made the mistake of paying someone to proof read my passport form before I sent it off and someone didn't do their job properly. The good thing about this shop is that it's fairly central and you can buy bubble wrap, parcel boxes and there is a fair selection of reasonably priced plain stationery.

As a bonus I have to say their level of customer service is excellent. It's a very rare commodity these days but it survives in Stanley Post Office. Whether it's picking up the slack from the bank or more 'traditional' Post Office business, they're spot on.
