It was especially unfortunate because my dad had been looking forward to trying Mediterranean food for the first time. After already having a long and difficult day at work, it honestly hurt to see him treated that way. Good food can only go so far when the customer service leaves you feeling disrespected and unwelcome.

Another Eat the World LA Find…read more La Casita Mexicana -- another Eat the World LA find that did not disappoint! I first visited while I was in the area with my best friend, who is also half Argentinian like me and does modeling as a hobby. She had just finished another successful photoshoot on the Eastside of Los Angeles, made great connections, and got some amazing content. It was getting late, and we wanted to start heading back home toward the freeway, but we were starving. We both love food and get the munchies now and then, but we also wanted to celebrate her latest milestone, so I suggested La Casita Mexicana. The ambiance was like stepping into a little casita in Mexico -- bright, colorful, vibrant, and welcoming. The staff were friendly, too. We tried an appetizer and shared the Enchiladas Tres Moles. Granted, I've never had truly authentic mole, but I've had versions of mole that were not good. The mole here, however, was out of this world delicious. Even the mole that came with the dinner chips as their "salsa mole" was fantastic. I remember thinking, I feel like I'm experiencing Michelin-star-level food in the middle of the LA barrio. And honestly, that's the beauty of the barrio. There are culinary diamonds all over Los Angeles -- you just have to give them a chance and be willing to try somewhere new. I've since returned with my boyfriend, and the food has never disappointed. For a little personal context, I'm half Argentinian and half Mexican. Although the Mexican side of my family is from Guadalajara and Sonora, I didn't grow up eating Jalisco-style cuisine, so exploring different regional Mexican cooking has been especially fun for me. It's always interesting discovering flavors and traditions that are part of my own heritage but weren't necessarily part of my upbringing. La Casita Mexicana is definitely one of those places I'm glad I ventured out for -- and another successful Eat the World LA discovery.

The chorizo was a bit too salty for my taste, but the cecina more than made up for it and honestly was my favorite of the three. The carne asada was solid too, cooked just right and full of flavor. Before the food even came out, they brought us chips with mole, and those were perfect on their own, a worthy palette opener while we waited! Service was great the entire meal, our server checked in often without hovering and made the whole experience feel special. For a birthday dinner with the family, it was just right.

We ordered to share chow mein, orange chicken, and green bean chicken for our combo C. We also ordered 2 egg rolls, 1 Snapple, and almond cookies. Let me just say that the food was very delicious, I really like that the chow mein noodles are thick. The orange chicken is good, and I especially liked that the green beans and carrots in the green bean chicken still had a good crunch to it and not soggy like in other places I've tried this. The serving size is more than enough for two people & the price is way beyond reasonable. For the entire order the cost was less than $20! Mind blowing. The staff was friendly and attentive. The interior could use a little work, but for good food and a price that is more than affordable in this economy that is a definite 5 star for me. Great work!

I had no expectations for this place, just walked in because Starbucks was closed and it was like a 50's themed diner/antique shop inside. The place was clean and fully staffed and there was a drive-thru. I ordered their sausage and egg breakfast sandwich on sour dough and needed the code to the restroom or the key and was on my way. Later in the day I got hungry and opened up the sandwich and it was perfect. It tasted like a good home made breakfast sandwich and looked amazing and tasted fresh. I got a photo of the cross section of the sandwich and it was immaculate. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a very good burger or meal on the go that's not a chain and it's actually better than a chain. Also, the restroom was clean with no weird smells so I recommend their restroom too if you're on the go. My order was ready by the time I came out of the restroom so they are also really quick. Honestly was surprised by this visit and would come back again.
