Discouraged, yet curious by the mixed to poor reviews on here, I had to try this place as I am a huge wing fan always looking for a better alternative to the go-to wings at Hooters.
And the final verdict is that I most likely would prefer Hooters, sorry to say.
However, let me start by a couple disclaimers.
1. This was my first visit
2. I only tried the 'original hot' flavor
Now, before I get to the food, I want to touch-up on other aspects of this place, especially after reading past reviews, such as the service, wait time and restrooms.
Service:
Not bad, but not 'friendly' by any means -- just very neutral, which may ultimately be a bad thing in itself. Upon walking in, the girl at the front already had that mean-mug look on her face like she's GOING to give you attitude, haha....but I have to say she didn't, and was fairly cordial. Trust me though, she didn't go out of her way to smile for me or to charm me to come back (not that I ask for these things, but let me finish this review).
Also, what was a bit annoying about the staff, is that they had no problem chit-chatting amongst themselves, definitely loud enough for customers to hear. I had to sit through exchanges between co-workers such as:
"...Damnnn you go to school every day? I only have class twice a week and can barely handle that, shieettt"
"...no, these aren't available on the menu, but we're just making these because we're bored!" (to a customer)
"...damn girl, you know you was ALL up on him that night!"
...............
so, yea........
now, listen.....I've worked in an atmosphere like this several times growing up -- I KNOW how it is at a minimum wage job, working amongst co-workers, etc., I really am not criticizing them for this, BUT -- do you have to do / say these sort of things at the front counter??? It's like, go in the BACK of the kitchen. Half that stuff was said right in front of a customer as they walked in and were WAITING to order, hahahaha....
honestly more funny than anything else, just had to point this out.
Wait time:
They said about 13-14 mins, I waited at least 17-18 mins. Not a HUGE deal, but why the fuck even bother to say "13-14 mins?" Just lower your customers expectations and say about 20 mins.
People are smart enough to know that wings and fries don't take 5 mins to make, c'mon.
Restrooms:
Yea, as other reviews state, the restrooms are pretty dirty. And honestly, the entire restaurant, for just opening up not too long ago -- looks like shit -- WHAT the fuck?!?
This place, what it looked like it was missing -- was an 'adult.'
If you couldn't tell by my description of the service above, this place seems like its run by high school / college kids, which is not a problem, but a cause for the poor maintenance i'm sure. The staff just seemed like your typical, lazy, minimum wage workers. Where was the 'shift supervisor / manager?'
It's like, damn, I'm not asking for perfection, but It's one of my peeves to see businesses that simply aren't managed well, especially ones that haven't been open that long. And yes, I came here once, but could already tell it's sloppily managed.
Why?
Dirty, disheveled restrooms, tables with food not cleared away, straw wrappers ALL over the floor, as well as dust (the way the light comes into this restaurant at certain times of day, you can see EVERYTHING, trust me), employees yelling orders from the front to the back of the kitchen, sloppily dressed cook, 80% empty lid / straw dispensers, etc etc....
(damn, I just actually LOWERED my rating from 3 to 2 stars believe it or not, hahah)
It's sad to say, but I can totally see this place gone by next year.
Another funny thing about the restrooms...
So I went to take a leak, open the door and there's a customer right there. I immediately said "oh, sorry" and walked out......thinking to myself "wtf, no one locks doors anymore or what."
So it's eventually my turn, I go to lock the door, and the fucking lock doesn't even work! hahahhah -- no wonder.
And it was fuckin gross, but there was red, wing sauce smudges and fingerprints ALL over the door and restroom walls, like someone was fucking murdered with hot wings or something.
Again, sloppy management.
sigh...
anyways, on to the FOOD:
So, I ordered the 10 pc wings and side of fries. First off the fries, which I expected to be super salty from past reviews, weren't TOO bad, but I'm not saying they were zero sodium either. As far as taste, they honestly weren't bad at all, almost having a unique, slight sweetness to them. I wouldn't be surprised if there seasoning involves a touch of sugar.
The actual wings, not bad at all, but not unique.
But like i said at the beginning: Would I rather just eat Hooter's wings?
Yes.
And that's what it comes down to.
I probably WILL come back here, just to give them another chance, hoping to bump up their rating in an update. But please, to management:
