When my friends come over they name certain spirits like Casa Migos, Don Julio (the square one). They have it. I remember I had to buy some Taylor Flaggate for my attorney and they had it. Wine Story is such a pleasure to do business with. The employee was definitely friendly and helpful. I caught her coming up to greet me in one of my photos. After my purchase I don't think she was having a good day. When she went to ring up my purchase her computer register wasn't working. I left her more than enough to cover the advertised price. I'm not sure how she managed. There's a pretty good stream of customers coming in. Sad to see that happen to a sweet employee. The Story is that it's clean and much better stocked than the last liquor store I visited. The prices are better too and you get a discount with Yelp check in! This store and the people that work there are wonderful! I walked in and everyone was running toward me. Earlier in the week they informed me the price of my wine went up by $2.00. In fact they had the wrong info and made sure I knew my wine had not gone up in price and apologized. How nice was that! Poor white selection, only one Albariño choice, rose selection could be improve. Overall solid place. I like this place, they deliver! They no longer have a spirit that I like. Maybe because of low sales. The wines and champagnes are priced well. They always seem to have a sale. Some of the cashier's are nice, others don't seem to care. I think I signed up for a points situation or entered my name in their database when they first opened, but I haven't heard a peep about it since that time. Usually when I walk into a liquor store, there are boxes all over the place, the people working there don't know their selection, and I end up spending way too much time trying to find he perfect product. Not so at Wine Story! The aisles are clean and the workers are great-- they always know exactly where their stock is and are extremely helpful when I'm not quite sure what I want. Friendly, young, fun and knowledgeable staff (especially Maria). Usually go to 77&3 because it's on the way to the subway but the detour is well worth it. Much larger selection (can't even compare) and a lot of specials that are the best prices in the neighborhood. Highly recommend. read more

There are a lot of liquor stores in a 3 block radius of this place. Probably about 4/5 and do yourself a favor and don't go to this one. They are so unfriendly. Unfortunately ive made the mistake of going here on a few occasions but this time was the worst. if you need help with something they will basically tell you to take a hike. Ridiculously overpriced, don't acknowledge you when you walk in and on top of it I got the worst bottle of wine I've ever tasted and they had me come trekking back in the snow only to tell me that the wine was fine and sorry if i didn't like but they refused to exchange it (even though I previously walked around for 20 min trying to get someone to help me and no one would). DONT GO HERE IF 0 stars was an option I would give them it. Gracie's wine on 84th and York, crown wine on 2nd and Yorkshire on 85th are much much more pleasant, professional, and better priced. Oh and the guy at the counter refused to tell me when the manager would be in next and claimed he "didn't have his number" read more

Sadly, my experience after visiting Wine Story is congruous with the other reviews about poor customer service. The owner is a young woman whose demeanor was terribly condescending, snobby, and degrading. I have a pretty tough shell for rudeness, but her affect made me very uncomfortable. My visit to Wine Story left a bad taste in my mouth, although it was not from their cheap, overpriced wines. There are so many other friendly and accommodating places in the neighborhood where I will gladly bring my business. No one should ever be spoken to or treated the way I was. read more

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but my experience at Wine Story - in contrast to the others - was one of very poor customer service. I went to the store on a Saturday morning and was one of only a few customers present. Despite the fact that I was clearly looking a little lost trying to find a particular drink, two woman sat behind the register without so much as a glance towards me. After a few minutes searching I did ask if they carried a particular bourbon and was given a brash "nope" one-word answer. I then said "well, do you carry something similar or have any recommendations" and was again given a "nope." I can forgive the fact that they let me wander a little bit without assisting me, but the rudeness in not so much as giving a recommendation to a would-be paying customer is deplorable.
