One of the best Hostels I have every stayed at and I have been through 24 or more countries by now…read more It clean, hip, modern, up to date, organised, awesome staffing, with well planned activities for city tours, wine tasting, bar hopping and so on. They offer dinner with drinks for 10 euros. A electronic wrist band is given to you when you check in and it gives you access to the building, your room, and unlocks the lockers underneath your bed. I happened to stay in the 4th floor and the lack of elevator gets tiring but no where near as tiring as walking the streets of Porto itself...its so steep out there! This is one of those hostels you need to book in advance as it is almost always fully booked.

I took a day trip Guimarães and one of the guys helped me look up train times. The location is fantastic! It's a few blocks away from the subway and they also have a 24 hour check-in. I was traveling on my own from Marrakech and my flight was delayed two hours. Fortunately, I was able to catch the very last subway ride. I think it was at 1AM? I arrived very late but I met a couple on the street who directed me in the right way. The hostel is very secure and clean. They have a few computers, a nice lounge area, and a communal kitchen. They also have this awesome mural in the lounge area. They have a new dinner prepared each night for a small fee where you can meet other hostel guests. The hostel's fun atmosphere made it very easy to meet new people. One of my favorite things about this hostel are the e-keys they provide for each guest. The e-key gives you access to the entrance as well as the huge rolling drawer underneath the bed. It's pretty spacious so you can easily fit a big backpack inside. Each bed has an outlet and there is a small sink in the room so you don't have to walk to the bathroom. The views from the room are great! My window directly faced the street which was great! The bathrooms are extremely clean and the showers are big so you have space to change inside the stall as well. They also have convertors for electronics at the front desk in case you need one. Staying here has been a very positive experience! I loved Portugal. It's probably one of my favorite places I've ever visited. I will definitely make my way back here one day to travel the entire country.

Overall this place gets 5 stars simply because of the customer service . I spoke with management and they have really prioritized the guest experience over recent years bringing on the right mix of volunteers and staff that are customer service oriented and now how to make guests feel welcomed. The location is also really cool as it is located inside of a train station . The lobby area has a loft area with a seating area and window over looking the tracks so you can see passengers arrive and leave from the window overlooking the train platforms . Reservations here also include a free and satisfying breakfast . What I especially like is although the items are limited people can also cook their own food especially if they have special dietary restrictions unlike some other hostels in the area.

There are 10 beds in each room so it's quite noisy with all the different people coming and going. Bathrooms and showers are divided by gender which is very nice, so you don't have boys next to you while you shower. The kitchen on the top level is spacious and well stocked. Continental breakfast in the am, bread, cheese, and some fruits, nothing fancy. Overall a decent stay.

It…read morewasn't that the other hostel was bad but this hostel was a bit cheaper and has one of the most amazing locations . Located right on the Douro river you have one of the best views of the region right from the lobby , the terrace outside and even some of the private rooms . Also booking a night here in any accommodation comes with free breakfast ( such a fan of their baked apples with cinnamon which is amazing in a bowl of special K / cornflakes btw ) and their Tomato salad with rosemary and feta with toasted break and butter . l was also a fan of as their welcome drink ( port and tonic ) which is delicious! Great value ! **Update** Updating my review after one full night here and reducing the score from a five to three stars . While again the location is great This hostel also has a very weird policy that prohibits guests from preparing their food in the morning because they have a breakfast service . While it is cool they offer a free breakfast it does not include certain items like eggs etc and even if you have a special diet and or you have your own food you are not allowed to use the kitchen until noon . After being yelled at by an older Portuguese woman that the kitchen was closed I confirmed after speaking with one of the staff that one would literally have to wake up and use the kitchen at 5 am if you had special dietary needs and could not eat what was being offered . In summary - Location is a 5 Cleanliness 5 ( I love how even in the dorms they will make your bed for you everyday like when you stay at a hotel ) Accessibility- ( for guest with special dietary needs or in need of additional services due to a disability ) 2.75 Customer Service also is an average 3.5 ( based on morning staff interactions the morning after ..which initially lowered my rating from a 5 to a 2 the my first morning at the hostel but the staff have been trying their best the following days ( like remembering what I can't eat and trying to modify my plate to accommodate my diet so I am raising their score ) ( overall I give this place 4.2 out of 5 stars and would recommend if you are staying in the porto region )

Views from our room overlooked Porto and the Douro river. Wide plank wood floors and rustic beans demonstrate and highlight the beauty of this historic building. Our bed was spectacularly comfortable. The staff were polite, informative and professional. The included breakfast was an amazing spread of coffee, tea, fruits, cereal, vegetables, yogurt and various breads & sweets. All included with the room or hostel stay. Be advised there are many sets of stairs within this property and even some in the hotel room. I would absolutely stay here again! Beyond what we had hoped for & definitely one of the most scenic places I've ever stayed.

While the room for the most part remains unlocked, it is right in plain view of the reception area - free breakfast with a wide offering - kitchen was quite roomy and appeared to be well stocked, though I didn't use it - full length mirror in the room! - curtains around the beds, along with a reading light and shelf were great to have Cons: - check-in is strictly no earlier than 2PM, no exceptions -- luckily Porto is quite condensed that I was able to drop off my luggage and browse around the city for a few hours without having to travel very far - you're given clean sheets upon check-in -- literally, as in you'll need to make your own bed. Likely not an issue for most, but rather difficult to finagle fitted sheets on a top bunk - elevator was broken down during the entirety of my 3-day stay so be aware that if you are staying in a female 8-bed dorm, you may need to trek up/down four floors - staff is polite but I didn't find that they would go out of their way to make conversation with you - showers, toilets, and sinks in the female 8-bed dorm are located within the suite, which is handy but also makes for really noisy sink, hand dryer, and hair dryer usage as there is no partition between these and the beds Overall I found location to beat out any of the cons, so do recommend this place

I read great reviews about this hostel, but I think the "newness" has started to die down... I stayed at the hostel from Thursday night - Saturday night, in an all female 8-bed dormitory. I think the advert was misleading (I booked through Booking.com) as I believe I booked a bed in a 4-bed dormitory, but was placed in an 8-bed room. I didn't care too much to change it, but it did annoy me. The wifi was absolutely horrible. It didn't work properly in the rooms, and the staff were nonchalant about it, and not feeling bothered enough to do anything about it. Trying to use it in the workspace and lounge area was better, but not that great. The bathrooms were pretty clean my first night, but by the time we got to Saturday night, I did my best to stay there for as less time as possible! It's expected in communal spaces that cleanliness isn't going to be top-notch 100% of the time...but it's not that hard to clean up after yourself, which it seems like some of these travelers did not know how to do. This hostel also seemed to display evidence of past attempts at creating a social environment, but this was not apparent during my stay. Apparently the hostel hosted their own walking tour, but it wasn't available when I was there. I happened to befriend one girl staying in my dormitory, but it was not thanks to the hostel. I paid 66 euros for three nights total. I wouldn't be excited to stay here again, but I spent most of my time outside exploring Porto, so for a place to keep my things and sleep on a bed, this hostel served its purpose.
