This is a real neighborhood gem! De Falco offers the best frozen Italian meatballs ever. (I…read morehaven't made a meatball since discovering theirs.) Their pasta sauces come in jars and frozen. I keep one of each ready for those last minute meals that bring in so many compliments. I also keep their stuffed ravioli in my freezer for when we want an authentic Italian meal quickly. They have a wonderful variety of foods in their little market and great wines. They offer fun and reasonable wine tastings onsite. Only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Excellent website too.

We have been meaning…read moreto get to DeFalco for wine tasting for quite a while, but couldn't get there as I have a volunteer commitment most Saturdays. We weren't really expecting much due to their location in a small nondescript strip building, but we were very surprised. The wine tasting eperience was better than many places in Paso Robles, Santa Barbara, and Napa. We were greeted at the door with a smile and shown to the wine tasting room behind the store. The room totally set the mood: red checkered tablecloths, brick walls, wine barrels, and a rustic Tuscan mural. The host, really bad but I forget her name, Tatiana? is their culinary specialist from Eastern Eurpoe. She certainly knows her wines, suggested pairings, and explained each. She told us that Gus, the owner and winemaker, entered 10 wines in the OC Fair competition, and came away with 10 ribbons! The wines were all very good: I am mainly a red wine person, but bought a bottle of their white Wine Blend as it is the perfect "patio wine" (my phrase for a summer wine and charcuterie dinner on our patio). After the tasting, we went to see the offerings in the small store. We left with a wide assortment of wine (Zin and Primotivo), dry pasta, frozen dishes, and cookies. They shop is only open on Fridays and Saturdays, but I will definitely make time to go by again soon as there are so many other foods that I need to try.

I have been to a good amount of wine tastings over the years but none have been as intimate, fun or…read moreinteractive as the one taught by Karen at Inspired Somm. The ambiance was really nice (dim lights, beautiful paintings around) and overall had a very welcoming and comfortable feeling while still feeling upscale. By design, there were only 7 people in attendance at the tasting to promote a more intimate experience; which really added to the overall experience. I learned a lot about not only the actual wine we were tasting, but also about food pairings and good general wine tips. I really loved how the tasting/class was very interactive and conversational (yet structured) versus being talked at (or not talked to at all), as I have at other tastings. Overall, the tasting was a very thought out and well planned experience that I really enjoyed and really recommend! I went with some friends (and made new ones!), but would definitely come again as an outing for a date or would make a perfect girls night out! The wines and charcuterie presented were really good and varied a lot. I even found 2 new wines that I love! I am looking forward to taking one of the advanced speciality courses to learn more and have another fun night!

The food was off the charts, the ambiance was beautiful, and the wine never disappoints. Don't get me started on the rosé with jalapeños... SO good. Highly recommend the fig bruschetta, caprese salad, and the steak berry salad! We finished with the lemon cielo cake and carrot cake, and both were amazing. 11/10 experience, we will definitely be back!

I told them that we would not be able to sit at that table as we had a 3rd in a wheelchair. The hostess seemed to just think we were going to leave, but I asked to see a manager. After waiting 10 minutes and the manager having not shown up, another server came by to tell us they were clearing a handicap table for us - another 10 minutes later and we were seated. That server did however bring us a glass of champagne. After we ordered, it took almost an hour before our food was served and my fillet w/blue cheese mashed potatoes and carrots were cold and the potatoes had no flavor of blue cheese. The mashed potatoes were hard - as if they had been sitting out for an hour. This was Easter Sunday and we were hoping for a nice meal with my 95 yr old mother. That did not happen! We won't be back.

The owner informed me that due to Covid, there would be delays. I said, no worries. Totally understand, life is so uncertain right now. I kept following up and he always said soon they'd be back up and running, but now it's June. I asked a refund since Christmas is just around the corner, which he gave me. I'm bummed but we will try this place eventually.

Typically the tickets are $25 per person, but we all bought the pre-sale online for $20 (no fees either!), and the value for what we got at the tasting was awesome. The tasting started promptly at 5pm. The tasting area is very intimate, 3-4 tables, and maybe a dozen seats, give or take. When we arrived we were handed a full size glass and each individually served a plate of small bites- meats, cheeses, nuts- standard charcuterie items, but of great quality. The duo hosting the event were very welcoming. They covered all the information you could hope to know for each wine and food item. At Spana Life, all their items are imported from Spain and everyone who works there seems to have a depth of knowledge about not only the wines and products, but also of the wineries where they come from. There was even an olive oil tasting! In total, the set tasting menu was 4 wines and three olive oils. The tasting pours were generous, and they even opened a 5th bottle at the end for an additional tasting! (I feel like it goes without saying but all the wines were delicious) I am definitely planning on returning to this event, and would highly recommend to anyone considering attending. My one criticism (if I can even call it that) is that neither the website nor the ticket I was emailed listed the event time. I only knew of the time because it was posted to their Instagram. Other than that, a super fun, relaxing way to spend a Thursday night!
