I never once felt nervous. There's a long bar at the front, and a little cocktail bar at the back, which is impressive for a petite venue. I was walked over to the cocktail bar, and told I could order anything I wanted, any cocktail off the top of my head, or just say what I liked and they'd match it. I listed of floral, sour and gin, and was presented with a super tasty gin based jade princess. The music was great, areas to sit and dance too. Cocktails are not cheap, but they're very much worth it. A lot of people do seem to come here on the pull, which isn't my scene, and those who approached never pestered, which is wonderful. An all round nice environment!

Apart from the lack of seats, also realized when we got there that we didn't really feel like a sandwich and since we were hungry, just decided to go next door to the Burger Bros, and am very glad we did so! I really like the vibe of this place, and it's mixed identity. So it's a wine bar called Alberrys and then the back/ kitchen is the Burger Bros restaurant space. They were playing cool laid back 70s tunes and I liked the juxtaposition of music with the Americana style menu. Plus they have free wifi and that is an excellent bonus - just ask the server for the password. I ordered a vegetarian slider and a cider and my other diner got a Cajun burger and a mango/orange fruit juice and we split the fries, which were totally fantastic and not at all greasy and nor did they gave that stale oil taste. My veggie slider arrived on a wooden chopping board (cool way to serve the food) and was overflowing with mushroom and roasted red peppers and Haloumi cheese (you could choose between Haloumi or blue cheese and I went with the servers suggestion). I also liked the crunchiness of the fried onion ring and eggplant so the burger's fillings came together in a beautiful medley of fresh and juicy flavours. If there is one thing I would have preferred for next time is that the burger be cut into two, as this would have made it easier to pick up and eat. Cost for two drinks, two burgers and a shared bucket of fries was £25 (rounded down), so not too bad. Oh the ladies loo was a funny experience as I couldn't find toilet paper until I looked up! The roll is placed super awkwardly and I was stretching my hand to get some paper.

The hosts and staff were very welcoming and accommodating to our family of four - two adults and two young children. Alongside the spanish menu sits the childrens menu, serving a limited range of kid friendly meals, all of which appealed to our two, whilst we enjoyed a selection of superb tapas from the menu. The atmosphere was relaxed, with a number of other families dining in the restaurant. To the rear of the restuarant, lies a patio with tables and beyond that, the garden, laid to lawn - a good sized area. On Sundays in the summer, the menu offers a traditional roast, or a barbeque (weather permitting) which is very popular. Overall, this resutaurant gets a big thumbs up for friendliness of the staff, quality and presentation of the food and accommodation of the dining guests. We'll definitely be returning.

Now called Richard Phillips at Chapel Down, this wine bar and restaurant is the serious drinker's…read moreworst nightmare - a great venue, serving delicious wine, that's completely inaccessible by public transport! I've only ever been to the bar, but with its cask lined walls and comfy armchairs it makes for a really cosy place to relax and explore the vineyard's excellent selection of wines. Moreover, if you visit on a sunny day you also have the option of sitting outside on their adjoining terrace, which has stunning views of the Kentish countryside. It may not be the cheapest place for a drink, but I've found Chapel Down's wine to be consistently good and it's definitely well worth a visit. Of course, if you can't find a nice, sober person to drive you there and back and you don't feel like hiking, there is a shop downstairs which sells all of their wines to take away. It also does tastings and sells a range of deli products which are perfect for a snack or a spur-of-the-moment picnic in the countryside.
