"Doctor told me not to drink no more Doing everything the…read moredoctor told me not to do Hittin' the bottle again" (John Lee Hooker -Hittin' the Bottle Again) We needed a bottle of white wine for a recipe (all we had in the house was a red, a rose and a sparkling white) and since we were right across the street from the Bottle Stop, it made our course of action pretty clear. Bottle Stop is right between the huge Avon Goodwill Store and an auto parts dealer, and truth be told it looks small and fairly unimpressive from the parking lot. But once you go inside you'll see that the store is actually quite large and the aisles seem to go on forever. Their beer section is enormous, filling both sides of an aisle from the front of the store to the back. They sell quite a few single bottles so you can be adventurous and create your own six packs. We went to the bargain wine section and walked away with a nice Pinot Grigio for $3.99. Wandering the aisles and checking out their big inventory made me pretty sure they would have whatever I might need from a liquor store.

The Bottle Stop seems to be under new ownership that seems to lack great or even good customer…read moreservice. It was a simple issue, take back empty bottles and cans in accordance with CT Bottle Bill. The first time I tried to return very clean cans I was told they had to be in boxes not bags. The bottle bill doesn't say that. So back I went with my cans in boxes, one box had whole cans and in the other box I had crushed cans. The owner then told me he would take them this time but next time they needed to be whole cans and not crushed. The bottle bill specifically says any place selling the cans needs to take them back whole or crushed they. The owner said he had his own store policy and didn't need to take returns of crushed cans. There are lots of beer, wine and liquor stores to choose from and great customer service is the difference.

Oh man, I don't know why I haven't been in here before. I came looking for something specific…read morethat's a little hard to find and ended up finding that and some other nice surprises. I was super excited to see Foxon Park Thimble Island Brewery hard sodas all the way in Simsbury! I've been wanting to pick some up in the Branford/ East Haven area but it's such a long drive and package stores sell out fast. Also found the Smash on the Beach drinks I was looking for, hard Sunny D, and New England blueberry cider which is also hard to find sometimes. I'm not a heavy drinker but I felt like a kid in a candy store lol.

It made it a fun shopping experience, how often does one see an Absolut bottle filled with basketballs? They have a good selection of Connecticut beer, and gift bags stationed nearby for an easy to assemble gift for the beer drinker in your life. I wasn't overly impressed by the prices, but the employees at checkout were perfectly polite. There is a parking lot near the entrance of the store, and handicapped parking right by the door. I would love to know how to get out to the light at the nearby car wash, otherwise the most accessible exits may have you waiting a decent amount of time (depending on the time of day) to turn left onto 202.

The Village Spirit Shoppe seems very similar to most small town liquor stores I've been in. The…read moreselection is small, but unless you're looking for a very specific bottle of wine, you'll find something to suit your needs. It's probably more expensive than a town like Torrington where there's more competition, but you're the one in Burlington needing some sort of alcohol, so let's assume a convenience cost. (Honestly, I don't know if they are even higher priced. The bottle of wine I got seemed reasonable to me.) The proprietor offered to help me find what I was looking for, and seemed happy enough to be there even though it was after closing time on a Sunday. Perhaps he sensed business was still coming! They're located on the quieter side of the plaza, sharing a building with Creative Concepts Kitchen and Bath, so there isn't any parking issue. The store has a cooler of beer, wall of liquor, and about three small aisles of wine. Mixers and non-alcoholic drinks are also sold.

This is the only package store in this part of Burlington. It's a large town with few people so we…read morecan't get another one, but we need it. This place closes at 8 every night, isn't open on Sundays, and is substantially more expensive than any other place in the area. I'm not a customer who had one bad experience. I grew up in Burlington and have complained about this place since I turned 21. the owner won't sell to people with duplicate licenses, so if you're like me amd lost your wallet and needed a duplicate made, don't even go; they will insinuate you're under age even if, like me, you're in your mid thirties. Poor wine selection, and extreme overprice, like 25%+ more than anywhere in the area. Ive known for years this was a bad package store, but tonight I needed a small amount of white wine for a recipe and ran out to the closets Packy, this awful place, I was told I could break a four pack of the garbage white wine... completely abnormal for any package store I've ever been to. Even when I asked if I would buy other things to reach the $10 min for a card purchase, I was simple told "No" before he went back to staring at something on the wall behind me. The IDGAF attitude of the owners father (the primary employee I just referenced) made me leave this review. The level of 'I don't care about your business' I've received at this business, consistently for the last 15 years, makes this the WORST package store I've EVER been too. If you're not desperate, try the Liquor Lad in Harwinton or Package Square In Unionville. Both are reasonably priced and the service provided is so superior to anything you'll get at the place in the center of Burlington.
