This is a no-drama barn with exceptionally friendly riders and a very supportive, team-oriented culture. On-site trainers and visiting clinicians are world-class. Owners are approachable, friendly, and engaged with three of their own horses boarding and competing at the barn (i.e. they are "barn people" through and through). I happened upon NBEC by accident years ago and can't believe how lucky I am to have found it. Horse care and boarding is a big and personal decision, but if any reading this review are in the market, I couldn't more highly recommend including NBEC in your list to consider and tour. Ellie and Ella made sure we're kept safe and having fun the entire 2 hours of rock wall climbing and swinging. This is my 2nd time to request a group outing and they make the experience so easy. First, I filled out an online form stating my expected group size and requested date(s). Within a day, a nice gentleman called me back to set expectations and told me which dates and times were available. I then called back the third day to finalize everything. They answered all of my questions quickly and I just had to put a $50 deposit to hold my reservation. Once we arrived, each kid got a wristband so the instructors could easily find which kids belong in our group. Then, we all got a harness and they began a 10-15 minute introductory lesson on how to climb using the auto-belays. They offered to manually belay us, but we all preferred the auto-belays. I settled the bill after the event finished, and it was $30 per person as advertised. Pro Tip: don't forget to bring cash! I gave the instructors cash tips as there was no way to add tip to the credit card transaction. I loved their auto-belay systems. It makes climbing so easy and I felt safe belaying down from the very top. I especially love the Minneapolis location because of the abundance of natural lighting in each climbing area. I'd love to buy a 10 visit pass next time for my family to share as it's a fun way to burn some calories.

Everything went well throughout and their staff were easy to work with, which goes a long way when you're planning a kids' party. We rented the space for two hours. The first portion included a choice between an instructor-led ninja class or a Nerf party -- we chose the Nerf option, and it was a hit with both the birthday Ninja and our guests. After that, the kids had freestyle time to explore and play throughout the gym. One thing I really appreciated was that the gym was closed to the public during our party, so it was just our group and the instructors. Safety was the top priority, and the instructors were patient, attentive, and great at keeping everyone engaged. No one felt left out, overwhelmed, or bored. After the gym time, we moved into a private party room that we were free to decorate. The space was spotless when we arrived and already equipped with picnic tables, a food and cake table, a full-size fridge, and even backup supplies like paper towels and disposable cutlery. We didn't need the extras, but it was reassuring to know they were there. There were also no restrictions on outside food, which made planning much easier. We ate, sang happy birthday, and relaxed while the kids continued having fun. Once we wrapped up, the kids were welcome to hang out in the arcade area or head back into the gym while waiting for pickup. Cleanup was our responsibility, which felt completely reasonable and in line with most party venues. Overall, I'm so glad we chose to celebrate here.
