I completely disagree with the first review. I thought Sunnyside Stables was amazing! They have 75 completely breathtaking acres of land on their property, and all their horses are completely unique. I thought it was very scenic and that Nicole D. should maybe select a different stable if she were going to complain about the view. I also scheduled a birthday party for my daughter a couple years ago or so, and she and I absolutely loved it! Their horses were sweet and weren't stubborn or cross at all and when we rode, and when we scheduled for our five riders (me, my daughter, a few friends), they responded right away and scheduled it. I do have to admit, though, the ride was quite pricey for such a short ride, in my point of view. I think that Sunnyside should probably charge less as it is quite expensive. IMPORTANT: It does say that there is a minimum of 5 children on the website. Quote, "90 Minutes of horseback riding!! Please contact Ashley 651-895-4039 (text is best) for rates and availability. $45.00 per child, birthday child FREE (minimum 5 riders) or email rodeochick149@yahoo.com" - webpage on birthday parties Last summer, though, my daughter (9 @ party, 10 @ camp) took the summer camp. She said, and voiced this aloud, that she thought that the camp was more geared toward 8-year-olds, rather than the 13-year-old age limit that is said on the site. Apparently there was also a majority of younger kids in her camp and that made it less fun for her because she didn't make very many friends. Her recommendation is for there to be separate camps, one for beginner (6-10) and one for advanced (11-16) or something like that. read more

this stable does not take proper care of their horses. the horses are often very tired from being over worked. the adults there do not pay attention to the horses safety or yours. read more

I was less than impressed with the communication, or lack thereof, leading up to our event for a large group. No communication was sent after the initial deposit was sent, including the final amount due or how payment was to be made. I finally followed up for a confirmation on our reservation. The response was "Yes, Confirmed" and nothing else. I arrived with a large group and was told $XXX was due and it needed to be paid with a check - of which I did not have on me. They did not take credit cards and finally said they would take Venmo. Luckily, I was able to find someone with access to our groups Venmo account and was able to make the payment. Otherwise, it sounded like they were not going to let the group ride. As for the actual riding event, the group enjoyed their time. read more

We took this ride as a family last weekend and it was very nice. We booked it as a birthday party because my (adult) daughter thought it would be a fun thing to do and it was in honor of her birthday. The price was reasonable and the horses were very nice. As part of the birthday package we got to comb and saddle the horses ourselves- this was unexpected but kind of fun and very informative. It was great for my granddaughter (age 7) to see how much work having a horse would be, and to be able to bond a bit with the horse before riding. The scenery was a bit underwhelming and it is a trail ride, but the weather was perfect. All in all, it was a fun day. read more

Great experience! You don't just get on a horse that is already to go, you get to spend time with the horse by brushing before and after your ride. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable even the young girls that are helping. You can see that the facility and horses are well cared for in fact most of the horses were rescued. read more

Sunnyside, would have 5 stars If It Weren't for the recent changes that have been going on. I was fine with the summer camps, And other classes coming to sunnyside. The new trainer has killed it for me.....REALLY now?!?!? I don't want to be riding with 40 frickin jumps in the arena, and then be snapped at because im in her way!!!! My young boys weren't sure about horses, especially since we have one they did have a clue. They agreed to sign up for a horse camp, and then later tried to get out of it! LOL. But by then it was a done deal. They went to camp the first day... and they were totally in love with the whole package. Sunnyside gave them a terrific experience the entire week. My boys were sad to leave on the last day, and they would like to continue with lessons. Thank you to Sunnyside for an excellent and safe experience. read more

I really cannot say enough about Sunnyside stables! I had always heard great things about them from so many people but I experienced it first hand when I enrolled my daughter in horseback riding lessons there. She trains and has worked under Ashley (who helps run the stables) and I cannot describe the confidence, passion and excitement Ashley has cultivated in my daughter! Ashley also runs the camps, trail rides and birthday parties and she gives the girls training and opportunities in leading as junior camp counselors, this has been an invaluable experience my daughter has received that's given her confidence in so many other areas of her life. One of my good friends has been involved in the horse business her whole life, and after talking to my daughter said she must be receiving instruction heads and tails above other stables, knowing what she knew and being taught and trained the things she was. I cannot recommend this stable enough for anyone at any level of riding, riders will reach their potential here and find an awesome community as well! read more

This business has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. It is literally run by teenagers (I know this because I spoke with the Mom who said it was her daughter Ashley, that handles all birthday parties and she told her about what happened with me.) It took two weeks for the girl (Ashley) to even respond with a date and time on a weekend I inquired about for my daughter's birthday party after I sent multiple texts and emails. Then, after all the multiple texts and emails that I sent over that couple of weeks there was somehow a misunderstanding about my daughter's birthday not being a "birthday party" but just a trail ride. How in the world she misunderstood when I clearly stated several times that it was for my daughter's birthday, I will never understand. I was told on the day OF that there was a difference and in fact I had to have a minimum of 5 riders for a birthday party to get the rate of $45/rider with the birthday child free, otherwise it is $60/rider. This minimum number of riders was not listed on the website at that time (they later added it after our "misunderstanding") nor did she mention it during her few exchanges 3 weeks prior to her birthday. She could have clarified with me whether I wanted just a trail ride or a birthday party at any point. I had never had a birthday party there. I didn't know what to expect. There was no explanation on the website nor did she bother to mention anything different about their parties vs trail rides. The website only listed 90 minutes of horseback riding, nothing else. She ended up telling me I could have the rate of $45/rider but my birthday child would not be free. That was their mistake they should have made right with me especially after all the hassel. I could have canceled but that would have been a big disappointment for my daughter's birthday as that is what she wanted to do most of all. So I paid a little more for my husband and I to make 5 riders total. It's fun if you like horses in general, but they don't have the best views on the trail. It's a single file line ride along a lot of corn fields with a loop that covers what we already rode heading out and returning. I will save myself the frustration in the future and go with a much more professional business that hopefully offers a more scenic ride even if it costs a little more! I read a couple of negative reviews about Sunnyside today. Those reviews really bothered me because I know Sunnyside does their best to make everyone's riding experience a memorable one. One of the reviewers commented that the programs were run by teenagers. That comment is what I want to focus on. Yes, there are teenagers who help out with the trail rides and birthday parties. Believe it or not they are more than capable of running both these events. These young people have grown up around horses and have learned how to care for a 1000 lb animal. These teenagers learn to respect, and obtain respect from that animal. With a horse you are not just the owner or rider, you need to become the herd boss. That animal is looking to you for guidance. These teenagers are not the typical teenagers one would think of. They are mature, responsible young people who know how to keep an eye on what is going on around them. On another note, about the customer service. I have volunteered at many of these trail rides. I have seen Ashley in action. She takes the time to make sure each rider gets the horse they are comfortable with. She makes sure all riders are safe before, during and after the trail ride. Maintaining the comfort and safety of each rider, while ensuring their ride is enjoyable, is the most important customer service of all. read more
