Usually, this shop gets really good reviews - I have had mixed experiences at this shop. This is unfortunate since it's the only one close by. I have had some good service and some extremely frustrating experiences as well. I would give them a 4.8/5 for getting you set up with a new bow and a 2.5/5 for service once you need help with that bow. There are examples below. Overall it is a good shop to get a new or used bow. I bought a diamond SB-1 here and it has put a few deer in the freezer (They are a way better option for used bows than a craigslist add). I would not recommend having your bow serviced here though for anything other than the basics, i.e. string installation, poundage and draw length adjustments. I also recommend looking at other options when deciding on a place to take archery lessons. I took a class here and imagine there are better options out there. I like this shop since its family-owned, has personal service, good atmosphere (especially if you are about to spend a lot of money - may be less so if you are easily offended by non-PC/right-wing jibber-jabber) and I will continue to get some of my equipment from them to help support the store. I got help from them getting an old High Country bow setup for hunting and felt like I was strongly encouraged to buy a new bow. They cut my arrows dangerously short (arrows dropped off the rest and poked into my hand!) and they did not give me a new set of arrows for free. When I returned for help I felt like I was a bother for being there with my old bow when there are customers buying new bows around. I purchased a used bow from the shop the next year as well as a drop-away rest (which they installed on my Diamond SB-1) I began having timing issues that damaged the rest and my arrow fletchings - when I returned to have this checked (I paid for service for these issues several times) I was told that my shooting was the problem, not the bow or the rest or its installation (after two years of consistent shooting with no problems - having passed the MBRB shooting test for two years). It was frustrating that they stuck to this diagnosis despite working with a technician who painted the rest with white-out which was promptly removed by contact with the arrow following each shot. Rather than solving the issue, I was then encouraged to buy a new bow (though they had sold me the bow that year). I decided to simplify the setup with a whisker biscuit (downgrade from my drop-away rest) which immediately fixed the problem. I brought the bow in for tuning but when I installed broadheads, my shots were off by several inches from field points. I learned how to bare-shaft tune and retuned the bow which is now accurate. This journey has cost me much more than necessary, slowed my development as an archer, and made me dubious of the professionalism of Bwana. read more

I walked into this place as a long time firearm deer hunter wanting to get away from the 10 day season madness. I was given straight talk about bow hunting and bow selection. I was not directed to one brand, I was given a wide selection of price ranges, sizes, and options without any pressure to buy. That was the first visit, the second I narrowed my choices down and the third visit I purchased a whole hunting setup. This is a sport of many choices and it is very easy to spend money on the wrong stuff. You may be able to find stuff cheaper on the internet, but Bwana provided me with the knowledge and expertise so I was completely confident to hunt humanly. They are good at what they do, therefore they get busy especially before seasons. If you need as much time and help as I did, I recommend you try to visit weekdays. read more

Overall, great training experience and program for young children. While waiting, multiple people were using their cellular devices-ipads. One worker only offered one of the 7 customers wifi access- not sure if it was based on sex or race preference. I particularly got offended - and disliked that others were not asked for this part of a service they were offering to their family of customers that were waiting. read more

I have going there for years, I've shot and bought from them. I love that the help a customer until they check out. And for shooting there busy but if you go earlier enough you can get a spot. All the people there are nice and friendly and older people will talk why the younger kids and even willing to help them out. I really enjoy going here because is a fun safe place. read more

I bought my very first bow at a pawn shop to go on an archery deer hunt. I liked it enough to buy my second bow online. I wanted something a little different than everyone else so I bought a Martin. ($400) I was still very new to archery and bow hunting so I wasn't going to break the bank. Average joes was then my shop. I was a paying customer and was there almost once a week to shoot targets. The guy working the front desk said out loud in front of me how much he hated my bow and how crappy my bow was. Every single time! He treated me like a second class citizen because he didn't like my bow. This was my first serious year of archery and this was how the "archery community" was treating me. Then, He did it again, for no reason, i was standing at the front counter and he turns to his co worker and says "I hate that bow" loud enough for me to hear. I was standing right there. I was so pissed I never went back again. Everyone there looked down on me for being new to the sport. That bow shot just fine, it was fast light and accurate. Nothing wrong with it. After a successful hunting season I was absolutely hooked. I moved on to Bwana Archery where they gave me top dollar on a trade in for my Martin and gave me a great deal on a BRAND NEW Prime. I spent all my money at Bwana on new gear and they have been nothing but helpful and supportive. I now buy everything from Bwana in Little Canada and my experience there has been has been amazing. read more

If you need no nonsense advise about archery these are the guys to go to. Not sure about the negative review but I have been there countless times and that have been nothing short of perfect. Work is done on time and advise is free! Go in and talk to them. While visiting Minnesota, my brother and I happened to be in the area. Both of us had an interest in archery but not much experience. We popped in here and spent $10 each to get on the range and it was fantastic. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable. The range was good. Staff are great - Very knowledgeable and helpful. They don't push you to buy things if you don't need them. The only downside is that they only 18 lanes, and are busy. There aren't many options in the area, and the range is almost always full on the weekends, and they have leagues during the week. I'd love if the business next to them (in the same building) moved out so they could expand. Honestly, due to how busy it is, I tend to drive to A1 in Stillwater - They have less full-length lanes, but are less busy. The customers are just as nice, and don't mind doubling up on a lane. read more

I went to Bwana with my 12 yr old son today.. A man called Jr. helped us. Both my son & I are new to archery and needed a lot of info on the basics of Archery. Jr. was very generous with his time and gave a great deal of useful information. My son spent an hour shooting with a rented bow, Jr. stuck around until my son had it figured out. It felt like we received a personal lesson(etiquette, basic fundamentals and some very helpful tips), all for the price of an hours time in the range. We will be back and when we know what we want to buy, we will buy it at Bwana. read more

My experiences with Bwana Archery have always been very positive. The staff are quick to help me out, knowledgeable, and friendly. I just stopped in today for a few bow tuning items and had a great time. My Hoyt Trykon XL needed new cables and strings. I might have to buy the 2015 PSE Freak from Bwana since they really seem to know their stuff. read more
