It's hard to overstate how important Windsor Castle is to Britain. It's been the seat of the British Monarchy for almost 1,000 years and is the oldest inhabited castle in the world. The ancient fortress protected Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as a child during World War II. It's also home to England's highest order of chivalry, the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
a brief glimpse of the Quadrangle of the Upper Ward when you walk up to the castle from the ticket office or when you exit the State Apartments. At one end of the Quadrangle, on the side of the Round Tower, is the equestrian statue of King Charles II.
Outside of Windsor Castle is the Windsor Great Park. It is open to the public and a great way to enjoy your time in Windsor or after visiting the Castle. read more
