This venue is absolutely amazing!!! My husband and I just had our wedding there this past Saturday and I can't even tell you how beautiful this venue is!!! It is so lush and green, there were even baby owls in the a tree! The place is absolutely gorgeous! The guests were blown away by this place and didn't want to leave! Tony is so amazing to work with, he made our wedding so easy to plan, and our wedding day was completely stress free because of Tony and his amazing assistant Stephanie. His staff is so professional, the food is great. I own a business, and I am a perfectionist! I understand that there are some people that you can never please... ***IGNORE these one star miserable yelper princess reviews!!!*** I looked at so many venues from Sedona, Phoenix, international locations, and the windmill house was by far the best!

Tony and Stephanie were absolutely amazing- the food was perfect, the accommodations for the bride were beautiful. They took special care of the bride, groom, and the mother's of both! They made it extra special for everyone with all the little touches.

A person more cynical than I am, a difficult feat, might knock this place because it is "contrived" beauty. Everything from the lake to the gardens are man made and maintained. But I love it here. I think that the grounds and the building are absolutely gorgeous. It is pretty difficult to locate the Windmill House if you aren't familiar with the area. Chino Valley is a sprawling small town and almost completely pitched black at night. This place appears like a mirage out of the otherwise barren landscape and is almost as difficult to find. I have only visited the Windmill House for their Friday Night Fish Fry. But as I understand, it is available to rent for more elegant events. The fish fry was just alright. It was buffet style, something that I am morally opposed to, and they kept running out of food. The fish was pretty decent, and the cornbread was certainly the best part. I honestly didn't care much about the food because the surrounding area was just so beautiful. I would love to return to the Windmill House next time I am around the Chino Valley area.

Shockingly poor. Like a bad movie, I kept waiting, wondering when the, "ah-ha, now I get it" moment would appear. It didn't. From the moment we guessed which sliding door to enter, I felt like we were crashing somebody's party. Nobody welcomed us. It was a banquet room set up with a buffet service on the dance floor. You overpay a cashier by the correct sliding door and get meal tickets. There's a too loud duo of live music and an under stocked bar. The included beverages are on the other side of the dance floor. There's a lot of waiting. A lot of "excuse me's". A lot of confusion. I just read two other reviews from the same night, both 5 stars, I just don't get it. Maybe I'm a few decades too young to enjoy the atmosphere. Maybe I crave efficiency too much to be able to appreciate the dinner service. Or maybe I value a happy and courteous staff too much to get what the hype is about. My advice: don't go, but if you do go, put it on your plate even if you don't know if you'll want it because if you don't you won't have an opportunity to go back and get it. I.e,, Eight-tenths through the buffet table were baked potatoes (yum), the sour cream however was at the beginning of the buffet - aka impossible to get back to. All around weird and disappointing experience. Highlight was walking around the pond after dinner, it's always nice to see green foliage and water in AZ

Staying at the Hat Ranch was our first AirBnb experience for our wedding anniversary. Our stay was…read morethe final stop on a six day camping trip, and this was our chance to sleep in a nice bed and shower before we headed back to civilization. So glad we chose the Hat Ranch, as it suits our outdoor style to a "T". The directions in were very easy to follow, and our Toyota Tacoma picked up a beautiful red patina of Arizona dust. Sharon, our host, greeted us at the main house and then escorted us to our quarters. As this was our first time here, she took extra time explaining all about our stay, which included a home cooked breakfast today. You can Google the Historic Hat Ranch for all the cool details, but suffice to say there are some very presidentially mended fences here on the expansive 2,800 acres. Our room was very nice, twin beds and a nicely appointed bathroom. Also a spacious deck to view the open Ranch space. We opened the windows and breathed in the fresh air...scented with juniper and noble fir trees right out our door. We didn't see any, but Sharon told us Elk frequented the area often. Many other wild creatures to see too, including javelinas. The baby colt on the way in made my wife's day, and he quickly posed for some pictures and romped away. This has been a perfect cherry on the top of our anniversary Sunday. If you love the outdoors and crave a rustic Ranch experience with warm hospitality, the Hat Ranch is the place for you.
