When I moved to Amarillo after getting married (and apparently trying to make my role as a married adult) I decided I needed to finally just take care of ALL my teeth problems. After reading reviews I chose DGOA. Praise the Lord. The hygienists and assistants are so very kind, and Dr. Allison (my dentist) is just outstanding. When I was 23, for the very first time in my life, I was cavity free. Through four cavity fillings in one sitting, a root canal, and multiple teeth cleanings, I have ALWAYS felt comfortable and cared for here. I would probably fly back to Amarillo to come here, if I ever move away. This may seem totally corny and silly, but I have sincerely teared up a little bit thinking about how much I adore this place. I have severe anxiety and have had traumatic dental experiences, and their ability to take that away just astounds me. DO come here.

I unknowingly paid more than my allowable amount when I had the procedure done. When I finally received the itemized bill from my insurance I was also blessed with ANOTHER bill from Dental Group of Amarillo wanting even MORE money !! The charges that this group send out are absolutely a rip off to all of the Amarillo community. No procedure should cost as much as they want to charge. I ended up spending time on the phone with my insurance carrier and they informed me since this group is in network they can NOT charge me more than the allowed amount and they sent me a fraud/grievance report to fill out. I ended up calling the dental office and I had to explain that they couldn't bill me this ridiculous amount and they ended up stating they would talk to their billing department. They acted Shocked and stunned and said " I guess we missed that allowable amount, let me talk to our billing department ". Once they called me back, I was credited for overpaying and told to throw away the new additional bill that they surprised me with. I will never use the dental group again. They also used a product that my insurance doesn't cover knowing that they could bill more for it without telling me this prior to the procedure. This is the most shady money grubbing dental group I've ever seen. If I had not paid attention to the bill and not called both my insurance and this dental group to explain to them they overcharged me and shouldn't be billing me more they would have gotten away with it and no one would have been the wiser. There is no telling how many people they have ripped off in our community.

They would get ZERO STARS if it was up to me. Let me explain, I made an appointment face to face in their office months ago for July 21st at 12:00. Simple enough. Took off work for the appointment. I get a text last Wednesday at 12:22AM to "confirm" my appointment. I don't know about you but I'm not replying to a text I received in the middle of the night or any subsequent message there after. Not to mention that as an adult I shouldn't have to confirm an appointment I already confirmed when I made it. If I don't need it or can't make it I will cancel it. Well, they know better than you or me so they cancelled my appointment for me. They have a $50 fee if you confirm but don't show. They have a 100% of appointment cost if you opt out of their text confirmation system that texts you in the middle of the night and you fail to show. Guess what you get if THEY CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT THAT YOU TOOK OFF WORK FOR..... nothing of course. Just inconvenience, loss of pay, rude lifeless commentary and, for me, the task of finding a new dentist because I don't put up with this nonsense. I didn't fail to show up to my appointment or do anything wrong. I just made them the slightest bit uncertain that they maybe might not have a butt in their seat and the $$$$ they so dearly covet because I didn't respond to a 12:22AM TEXT MESSAGE. Mind you, I never received an actual phone call! Can you imagine being so money hungry and so greedy that even the thought of you missing your appointment sends terror and fear of lost $$$$. These people are self serving trash and if you miss one of their hoops too bad. Even if your appointment still isn't for another 23 hours you lose because serving you is not in their wheelhouse. They only serve the money god. I actually reached out to them and spoke with some soulless husk of an office crone just to try and hash it out since it's still almost 24 hours until my actual appointment and the answer was too bad for you and you can reschedule. I had actually heard good things about them and that's why I started going there but it's been the opposite experience. It's one thing after another with these money hungry ghouls. Beware.

We had a horrible visit with my 8 yr old who had an abscessed tooth. They referred us to a peds dentist and assured us we would be seen and they had more options for sedation. Sheman's office staff did not get the correct information from the other office and sent me to them with a kid who was in pain and recently numbed. Due to Sheman's staff my son did not have the work done and was left in pain until we could get another appointment. When I was upset in the office (after dealing with my hurt & upset child) the office staff thought it was funny?!? The lack of professionalism in their office staff was unnerving! This is the 3rd time I have had issues with the staff. The first time was for procedures done that were not covered by my insurance (which is excellent btw) leaving me with a shocking $500+ bill. The 2nd time I was assured I would only be billed about $40 extra on a cleaning visit (which are normally free with my insurance), but was actually billed an additional $150!!!! If you are willing to spend the big bucks out if pocket, then go for it the Doc is awesome, but DO NOT count on his staff to give you correct information or follow through!
