And they have just expanded the historic building to include a third theater, not to mention the garden behind the Lounge where we have seen a couple of films. It's always a treat when a show in Theater 1is preceded by organ music by Dennis Scott; he generally themes the music to the movie (ex: when we saw "Contempt" this weekend he said all the songs he played were from the year the film came out). They show everything: action, romance, foreign films, cult classics like "Rocky Horror," thrillers and suspense, indie films, documentaries, animation. Every Valentine's Day they show "The Princess Bride," and they do series like "Metal Movie Night," "Cat Video Fest," and "Sapphopalooza." The building itself is reason to go, particularly since it has been restored and new chairs were put into Theater 1 a couple of years ago. We have been in both Theaters 2&3 now since that more recent renovation and they also look beautiful and are very comfortable. Check out a movie and a piece of Chicago history at the same time!

It is on the 4th floor and there are lots of signs to guide you to the correct location. When I went over the weekend the elevators weren't working so I had to take the escalators. I was able to buy my movie ticket on the AMC website and there was no line to have the staff scan my ticket to get in. There are kiosks that make it super easy to order your popcorn and they even have a bar in there. The bartender told us each drink comes with 3 shots so my friend got a margarita and she said it was really good! The large popcorn was tasty. I was able to add extra butter to it and get a free refill so I could share with my friend. Next time I go I will just order the regular popcorn as I had a lot left over. The seats in the AMC theater are recliners which were really comfortable. I will come back to this theater next time I want to see a movie!

AMC Dine-In Block 37 is what you would expect from a movie theater in the loop area…read more The AMC is located within Block 37 on the top floor. It's easy to get to as long as the escalators are fully functional (they have elevators so don't worry). Because it's dine-in style they offer you the opportunity to order your food to be delivered directly to your seat. You can order well in advance of your arrival or when you arrive. Be forewarned that they only give you a handful of delivery windows and they sometimes will bring the food out ahead of the time you setup. They'll bring it back out to you when you arrive as long as it's before the movie gets started. I normally only go to this location when everything closer to my house is sold out. The prices at this AMC is unbelievably expense. I've easily been able to calculate an almost $15 to $20 savings for movie tickets. That's before you even add on any food. I truly recommend eating before or after the movie because it's so expensive. The food is okay but not worth the price. My usual movie theater is a dine-in style setup so I can't place the price blame on that feature. It's a very touristy theater so they're used to people visiting that are willing to spend a lot.

The theater I went to was very clean and the reclining chair was warm and comfortable. Wait staff was courteous. I ordered my ticket online on their website and there were no problems with it. I loved that I could order a tall glass of water. THANK YOU for that. I haven't been to many places that just offer water that isn't in a plastic bottle. Viewers were very respectful. The theater was dead quiet through the whole movie and everyone followed the rules. Good vibe, good crowd. Good size screen and good arrangement. I can't wait to come back. I might even be back tomorrow. Best cinema experience I've had, and the best viewing crowd I've been in too. A tip for when you're ordering: When the movie started, it was too dark in the theater to scan the QR code again. Thankfully I could get the tab screen back up. Do not close your browser window on your phone so you can go back to it if you want to order more!

The theater is on the third floor and they have a really cool entrance with a bar, retro/foreign movie posters and a cool lounge w old school TVs. We purchased our tix online so didn't spend a lot of time there. The theater itself was comfy with wide and long reclining chairs. I liked that you can order from the seat and the table held plenty. The movie screen size was not big but the sound was great. We got a mix of food - the churro popcorn was fun and we shared mozzarella sticks and pretzels. All was good but like all movie theaters, expensive for what you get. Overall, a good experience but after spending $100 between two tickets, food (no entrees) and drinks, I'm not sure the value was fully there.
