This place is like renting an apartment, but it comes with meals and light housekeeping and laundry service. There are also activities such as exercise room, movie theater room, outdoor barbecue area, piano lounge, and other things to network with other seniors. 24 hour staff will ensure a resident's safety. You can have meals delivered to your room or you going to have somebody remind you to come for meals. Regular outings to the dollar store or the drugstore for residents by way of the private bus. It's all about keeping the residents happy and making it easy for them. The location is really nice, being only a block or two away from world-famous Granville Island. Lots of quiet streets for going walking or shopping. You'll need to contact this business and set up an appointment for your mom or dad to have an assessment. They want to make sure it's a good match. If there's some dementia it's probably not a good match. They cannot keep any of the guests locked in, they are free to come and go, so the resident must know enough to get back here safely. Otherwise it is very safe and secure with somebody at the front desk at all ours who will buzz people in and out. Coffee and snacks available most of the time in the lobby. Nice and clean facility with friendly staff. Don't wait too long to get your family member on board at Terraces on Seventh.

The manager began a renovation after this and did not provide any of the prepaid rent in return after stating that he would do what was "fair". The location and front staff are great, but the food services and management are underwhelming to say the least. At the end of the day money is what drives this place. Make sure you take the time to speak to the residents who currently live there. Be sure and ask about the food and management.

The staff is amazing including the caring and patient Josephine at the front desk, Mohinder who always smiles as she helps keep the building clean and Veena who runs the hair salon. Jean is the exceptional recreation director and Michelle the perfectly chosen general manager. All in all, Cavell is accommodating of the varied needs of their residents and in addition to an elected residents' council there are groups for so many interests like sewing, gardening,knitting, exercise, movies, cards and trips to restaurants, shopping and picnics. There is a pretty garden in which to sit, parks in the area and Main Street's shops and transit is only a block away.

We visited my aunt at Shannon Oaks yesterday…read more What a beautiful retirement home. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and eager to assist us when we arrived. My aunt has a lovely one bedroom apartment with a microwave and small refrigerator. Her unit overlooks the beautiful garden on the premises. She said that when the weather is warm that she likes to sit in the garden. When we asked her how she managed to find such a lovely home for herself she said that she used to frequent a seniors centre and they would often arrange tours of the various care homes. She was able to view a number of care homes and ask questions and determine what would best meet her needs. When the time came for her to move to an assisted living facility she was able to tell her son exactly where she wanted to go. They have so many activities that the residents can get involved in and my aunt used to be able to partake in many of the activities but unfortunately this is somewhat limited now as her health has made it difficult for her. Theyhave nice workout facilitiy a large library and a dining room that is so lovely with tables that are set with white tablecloths. The dining room looks more like a restaurant dining room than a room you would find expect in a retirement home. We looked at the menu and there seems to be a very good variety of food. My aunt said that the food is very good. I had another elderly relative that was also in a care home and it was a very depressing place to visit. He had a very small room with just a bed and washroom and the premises were not at all modern and as well maintained as Shannon Oaks. When my aunt told me what it cost to stay at Shannon Oaks I felt it was a reasonable cost for her to stay at such a lovely place with great facilities, good food and caring staff. I left with great peace of mind knowing that my aunt will spend the remainder of her time in such a lovely caring environment. Thank you Shannon Oaks for your great care.

They are very good at what they do. The dining room is very spacious, bright and inviting. They have all sorts of amenities and services. Also a private dining room is located just a ways from the regular dining room where you can host that private gathering with friends and family which is very elegantly decorated.
