This spot was great! The tasting room is full of large windows so you can really soak in the view and bask in the natural light, even on a chilly day. Our server was amazing. She said she doesn't work often, but she was so much fun. We did the clue tasting and it was so fun to taste so many different Pinots side by side. She gave us just enough info to be helpful without ruining the surprise. We ended up getting most of them wrong but had a huge laugh about it and went home with some bottles. So fun and creative! Based on my experience, I would recommend sitting in the tasting room over the igloos, as it is higher up and that you get a really great view. read more

Was a perfect Fall Saturday with such great tour, details and stories from Scott. Sampled another round of wonderful 2021 Pinots that brought back many memories that we signed up as Vitners and can't wait now for our upcoming deliveries. Oh my heart. Winderlea popped my Oyster cherry-and will always have a place in my core memories. My husband and I have this ongoing passion for Oregon Wineries and our cousins have been dying to take us to Winderlea-for the Oysters! I am anti raw-seafood, I can't do it (a texture thing). However I was convinced to try Winderleas Canadian Oysters and we had to order a second serving!! Upon entering the facility you are immersed with Sunlight and a beautiful view of their Oregon Wine Country estate. The owner greeted us and got our order in promptly. Fabulous Grape to Glass experience class! Thank you Winderlea and specifically Scott who led the class. We took our two sons to the Willamette valley for their first wine tasting. In my research I found this Grape to Glass experience and thought it would give the boys a good basic wine education. It was PERFECT. Scott explained everything in an aproachable way. We walked around the winery and learned about the history of the Pinot Noir, the evolution of the plant spacing, and tasted some grapes fresh of the vine. Throughout the walk around, we tasted several wines. (Scott was carrying the bottles with him in an insulated carrier. ) After the vineyard, we went into a small barrell room with a cheese plate ready for us. We tasted several wines from the barrels with different characteristics. Again, everything was presented in a clear way, with terminology that newcomers could understand. We took away a great lesson from Scott: don't focus on things you don't like, focus on things you DO like. Once you identify what do you like, keep paying attention and do your research. It will bring you to the wine that you will enjoy. read more

Wine was good but our host was incredibly rude. The table was also chaos when we sat down. They had the whole flight poured already which in theory is great but the tables are so small it left very little room for anything else. The servers also never took the empty glasses out of the way, so we were just stuck with a dozen huge glasses on the table for the entirety of our visit. The host is what really turned us away from never going back though. Multiple rude comments were made when we walked through the door and we nearly turned around and left. read more

Outstanding! That's the first word that comes to mind when I think of my visit yesterday. What a way to start my wine tasting in this beautiful part of the world, indeed. A friend and I visited Winderlea on a quiet weekday afternoon and truly enjoyed our time. Ken was knowledge, attentive, and ensured we enjoyed our tasting of the lovely wines available that day. We really appreciated the experience that he guided for us. The flight of Pinot Noir was very high quality, and several were indeed outstanding. The tasting room location is also stunningly beautiful and we caught an exceptionally lovely day, which served to further enhance our experience. Working in the industry I visit a lot of wineries. Our visit to Winderlea's tasting room last week was our introduction to the wine. Both tasting room and wine were among the top four favorites of our three days of wine tasting using the Dundee Winemakers Passport. WINERY FOCUS: Boutique, limited production winery specializing in Pinot Noir. They also bottle Chardonnay. Per bottle retail prices range from roughly $36 for Chardonnay to over $70 for Pinot Noir. Under another label, Worden Hill, they are making cool climate Syrah. The latter was not at the Winderlea tasting room, but learning we are Syrah fans the hosts talked with us about it and we're eager to try that as well when it is available. TASTING ROOM: Spare contemporary design which is elegant, in the technical use of the term, and welcoming. Harder to pull off than one thinks in that motif. Stunning views. Appeared that some of the windows could be rolled up in good weather. Seating both inside and outside on a deck if you want to stay and sip a bottle or glass. TASTING SET UP / WINES: The fee here is steep, $15, and not refunded with purchase. It is the reason we had not been there before. For Passport holders the fee was cut in half. ($7.50). However, the tasting fee is not kept by Winderlea; all proceeds are donated to a medical program that provides free services to farm workers. A very good cause. The tasting room hosts, Ryan and a very nice guy from Scotland whose name I did not catch, were six stars on a scale of five for sharing information about the wines and area. First class for welcome and knowledge. Pours were four, two Chardonnay and two Pinot Noir. We liked all of the wines, but in particular. 1) a Winderlea Vineyard PN ($54) that we thought was perfect weight with a wonderful balance of fruit and earth, and 2) one of the Chardonnay ($36), which had just enough time in oak but not too much and had a sort of, to us, butterscotch on the nose. Typically our strong preference in Chardonnay is for all stainless fermenting, but this was really good we thought and it was our purchase. ACCESSIBILITY: Fully accessible. Level in door and tasting room is on one level throughout. Paved lot has one stall of accessible parking right outside the tasting room door. (Although a little tough to see as it does not have the standard blue signage, but a discreet emblem on the wall of the building.) Big applause for the fact that inside and outside seating have many standard table height options which are usable by everyone, unlike high perch bar height tables which are not. BACKSTORY: The owners are relative newcomers to Oregon's wine making scene, coming to Oregon from Boston in 2006 to pursue passion of wine in second life stage careers after first careers in investment banking. The quality of the wine they are producing, the way in which the tasting room is set up and the community involvement they demonstrate all seems top notch to us. TIP: Friday lunches are offered at the tasting room from roughly July through September. Paired with wine, they are @$55. Seating for maybe a dozen people. Reservations required. We chose the "Clue" tasting experience in which we had to figure out which wine was which from the introduction and tasting notes. This is a long review, and if you don't have time to read it, know this: Moral of the story, if you want to be a member of a vineyard that discriminates against babies and new mothers, Winderlea is the place for you. We have been a fan of Winderlea for a long time, but today we experienced customer service that was so bad that we immediately cancelled our membership and will never do business with them again. Please note, we are vaccinated and cautious people and follow all health regulations. My fiance and sister arrived for their tasting with vaccine cards in hand and ready for a tasting only to have Winderlea have the audacity to ask for the vaccine card of the newborn infant that was with them. Of course, you can only vaccinate those over the age 5, not 3 month old infants. Winderlea then turned them away (!!!!!!) from an empty tasting room and cancelled their tasting because the infant was not vaccinated... despite the fact that infants can't be vaccinated. This is ludicrous for so many reasons. Most of which are obvious to anyone who thinks about it for more than two seconds. But instead of awknowledging that they made a mistake, Winderlea called me to tell me that they enforced their policy as they meant to. Meaning that they are literally discriminating against women and mother's with their illogical policy. I will never do business with this winery again, no matter how good the wine is. read more

This is a long post, so here is the synopsis: I'd recommend skipping Winderlea if you want to have a pleasant, family-friendly experience wine tasting, with kind, accommodating staff -- because we encountered the exact opposite at our visit. I was turned away from their entirely empty tasting room because I brought my two-month old infant along and she was not vaccinated against COVID. Mind you, the CDC, WHO, and every other recognized health authority, do not recommend vaccinating those under 5, but apparently this does not matter to the Winderlea team. Additionally, I was vaccinated while she was in Utero - so she's about as inoculated as one her age can be. I can appreciate a business wanting to be extremely cautious about COVID, as I am in the care of my daughter, but turning away a patron because her infant who is in a carrier (equivalent of a mask for them) is not inoculated when they are not recommended to be borders on absurd. And best part: the tasting room staff watched me struggle to get her into her infant carrier for 5 minutes in the parking lot, giving them plenty of time to come out and tell me not to struggle because we wouldn't be able to taste, but instead waited till I had gone through all of that and we were inside to drop the bomb. It was a completely empty tasting room and one of them could have easily come outside and made the slightest effort. It's clear Winderlea's staff and owner have no empathy for new mothers. I will not be returning to Winderlea, and I recommend you steer clear as well. read more

Expansive and contemporary balcony viewing and tasting atop the Dundee Hills!!!! Amazing, amazing. We came on a hot 80s autumnal day to taste their range of reds. Winderlea's profiled wines do not fit my palate. Their Pinots are complex, spicy, tannic, and big. Not really my style. Hints of cocoa and leather titillate you? As does higher end price points? Then this is bingo and jackpot for you. We shared one tasting, which I recall being $20. Coming for the view alone: worth it. Winderlea's tasting room was very busy the weekend of the Memorial holiday... but a great experience we had! They are located on what I like to call "Winery Row" in the Dundee Hills. They are built right in the hillside and have the best view of the valley of any of the wineries in this area. The building is metal and wood, with lots of glass window, very contemporary inside and out, with a beautiful concrete deck to take full advantage of on summer days. Since it was memorial weekend, we got to taste their wines along with meats, cheese, and patee. The staff is friendly and takes the time to tell you about the wine and where their grapes are grown. One of the winemakers was working the tasting table, and he was very interested in our thoughts on the wines we were tasting. Nice to see he cares about the product he is making! Their 2010 red was my favorite, although I can't remember the exact name of it. They do not have that "hurry up and taste the wine" feel here, it's very relaxed and laid back here. So come for the tasting, linger on the patio, and mingle with their pups on a sunny afternoon... well worth it! read more

This winery has a very contemporary setting. They have a nice outside concrete deck area in the back with a nice view of the valley. The tasting room is nice and quaint when you enter. It is small but the service is good and they get to tasting quickly regardless. I liked the Chardonnay they were pouring. It was very different. A bit sweet. I'm normally not a big fan of this type of wine but it may have been that because it was different that I liked it. They had a 07', 08', and 09' Pinot noir they were pouring. I liked the 07' the best. It had the most varying nose notes and flavor. The 08' and 09' were just alright. read more

Beautiful sunny March + wine tasting and you can't get a much better day! I was with a large group and low and behold we stumbled upon Winderlea and am so excited we did! It is a very modern looking tasting room. Clean lines, clean colors, wonderful and knowledgeable staff. It isn't a very large place but their outdoor areas more than make up for it. Wonderful patio and seating with one heck of a view. Their flight is $15 and you get a taste of 5 different wines. The first was a delightful white/chardonnay. Slightly fruity with just the right amount of sweetness. The rest will all Pinot Nior and were quite good. The Imprint was my favorite. Bottles of wine here will cost you on average $38 but they are certainly well worth it and many of their batches are limited. I highly recommend coming here along your wine tasting trip. It is a gem of a place and the staff make you feel right at home. Their wines are excellent! read more

This place did it again. They offered a tasty snack of bbq steak on some some crispy bread for Father's day. We went and enjoyed the steak. I opted out but the guy said the steak was very good. We also enjoyed some glasses of pinot noir on the deck today. The weather could have been warmer and sunnier but the that meant less crowds which was a plus. An unexpected stop. We were in the Dundee Hills with some time to kill. It was a pleasant surprise. Great views to the West and South. Fancy modern tasting room. Pourers actually knew what they were talking about, and the juice? Oh yeah, excellent wine! Mostly Dundee Hills pinots, but they also had some fruit from a variety of places and were showing a McMinnville pinot as well. Also a surprisingly good chard blend and a covertly placed Brittan Syrah (2008 no less). Just the second time in two days I turn down the cool climate Brittan Vineyard Syrah, perhaps I just don't have the patience to wait a decade to taste it again cause it's got the chops to cellar! The wines are mostly single vineyard pinots (so prices mostly run $38-48/wine). All crafted by Robert Brittan of Brittan Vineyards (if you're a pinotfile check out that winery too!). And just to think these are 2010's (cool vintage), if he get a wine with enough structure to be this tasty now look out for the 2012's! Don't go here. Customer service on Saturday was terrible! The first time I was here, service was minimal which was fine as we purchased two bottles of wine to sip and sit. Our second and final visit was less than mediocre. They would not sell our party of three a bottle to open and drink on their patio as they "just don't do that". Ok? They would sell flights to us. We were getting snotty treatment from the woman employee. The old man with the accent said he'd sell us a bottle to take-away. He said he'd keep it cold until we were ready to go. We _were_ ready to go. And we should have. But we bought a bottle of their Chardonnay. He said it was chilled and put it in a bag. When we got to a place to drink it, the bottle was warm. They did not give us a chilled bottle. If we hadn't opened it, we would have returned it. Bottom line: There are many wonderful wineries on Worden Hill Road. Don't waste your time at Winderlea. The guy that was pouring the wines and the owner who designed this beautiful winery were both very pleasant people. I could sit and sip their wines here all day long. Visited the winery for the first time this Saturday. I could not have been more impressed. We made an appointment (which is required on the weekends) and when we arrived they greeted us and provided us with a sample to enjoy on their patio. Wow! What an amazing view! We were then sat down for a personal tasting with one other couple where everybody's name was printed on the tasting list! DeAnna was our host and she was absolutely amazing! She explained everything so well and was able to answer everyone's questions. It was clear she had a strong understanding of wine and was very friendly. She made our experience! By the end of the tasting I couldn't sign up faster for their wine club! I've been to a solid majority of the wineries in the Willamette Valley and Winderlea is unprecedented.
