I wouldn't even give it a star. They didn't know the difference between 2×6 and a 2×8..... really?!?!? Lied about inspecting my roof. Hole in my roof that animals were using. Hole in soffit on the roof another hole for animals. I have pictures to prove all this. I'm a union carpenter and this is my second house and my second terrible inspection. My advice to everyone is get someone you know with any knowledge in the trades to go along during the inspection. Take a look at the pictures. read more

I needed to get an inspection done for a new home D and I are moving into. On a side note this will be my first time since growing up that I'll be sharing a space with someone. It's an exciting and nerve wrecking time but look forward to starting a new life with D. He promises not to abuse me too much...yeah right...*LOL*. So anyway WIN was one of several inspectors that was given by our realtor. I chose them because of all the choices they had the best site and also have a BBB certification. Apparently WIN is part of a franchise so your experiences may vary depending on the location. I filled out an e-form on Win's website and later called to verify my appointment. The person on the line was very friendly and was able to confirm on the time and to reassure me to ask lots of questions of Tim. So on the day of the inspection Tim called me stating that he was a bit early and wanted to see if we could start sooner. Unfortunately work has been crazy so I wasn't able to meet earlier but when I got at the appointed time Tim and Eli were already there taking photos of the property. The entire inspection took about 2 1/2 hours and they were very through in the details including numerous questions D and I had. A lot of stuff flagged were small minor issues (like missing covers on electrical outlets) but they also uncovered bigger issues with some of the windows and gutters. The final report received was about 30 pages long and detailed a lot of information. It'll provide a good guide on what will need to be repaired in both the short and long term. Most importantly the report was instrumental in scoring a nice housing credit towards the closing. Can't believe I'll be leaving Illinois to soon move to Indiana. The good thing is there's always the South Shore to take me downtown and I'm close enough to still venture out to the south burbs every now and then (especially since some of my fave stores aren't in Northwest Indiana). Incidentally if anyone is looking to move to Bloomingdale, I have a good place for you...*LOL*. Tim mentioned being willing to drive to my neck of the woods when the time comes for me to put my home on the market for a seller inspection. Made the worst mistake a home buyer can make. My realtor pushed this guy on me. Kept saying I will get my own inspector. She kept saying u don't have time. She was a dual agent. Listed the house and sold it. Unfortunately to me. This guy lied about everything. Said everything was small things. My plumber was here 4 times when I moved in. Bought all new appliances. Dryer wasn't drying clothes. The air ducts were packed solid with dog hair. Asked if anything was in the attic. Said NO! Empty. Hard for me to go up there. When friends were over there was a chair there right when u went up. Right there very hard to miss. Attic very little insulation. The blown in kind. But very little. Basement started getting water 6 months after I moved in. Had to hire people to come in and fix. I still need to do things down there. No money. The dump pump that was in there was a dime store special. Had it replaced immediately. Please don't ever ever listen to your realtor if they want you to use their inspector . I found out that it is illegal for a realtor to do this. They have to at least give you two companies. Still don't use theirs. They don't want to lose the deal on the house. I'm sure this guy got plenty of kick back. Scam artist!!!! DONT USE!! read more
