    breakfast specials
    Amanda B.

Food was fine--hot off the grill. So why such a poor review? Well, when we arrived we were informed that the breakfast special that morning was eggs, potatoes, toast and meat for $7.95 (as stated on menu). My husband and I went w the special, and one cup of coffee, which was $2.50. While we were waiting we noted the signs everywhere saying things along the lines of "this isn't Burger King, its not have it your way," etc. and the owner/server was heavy on the sarcasm. I get it, it's a small town and you can do what you want, and maybe this is part of your "charm" that people like...It was funny at first, but didn't stop and became annoying. He also said something to both my husband and I about being on our phones and not chatting w each other. We laughed at it the first time, but it became annoying the second time he said something (this after he said the same thing to the guy at the table behind us). What, am I at Luke's in Stars Hollow?! As I said, food was great. Got our bill, which had no price on it. I had a $20 and two $1 bills in my hand and when I went to pay he took all three bills and rang me up as $22. I was confused because he kept talking over me while I was trying to ask what the total was. I finally just shrugged and left a tip. When we were about five mins down the road both my husband and I had this "wait a minute," moment that we'd definitely overpaid, as with tax our bill should have been under $20. Maybe he assumed I was giving him my payment and tip, but he certainly didn't correct me when I set a tip down as well. We left w a sour taste in our mouths about that interaction, and wouldn't go back, which is a shame because the inside is cute, old school diner type we love.

Love this place. Not for everyone...nope...not for the light-hearted, easily offended, or overly sensitive type...just a great "Thumb-area" joint you'll come to love. It's also one of the best Sliders north of M59 in my opinion. Enjoy Lexington...

Honestly one of my favorite kind of places. Small hole in the wall, but super popular. Its like a If You know, You know type of thing. I love sliders and will happily buy them by the bag- which we did. We grabbed a bag of sliders with cheese, a small fry and a bottled coke out the cooler behind me. Paid, waited on the bench outside and 10 minutes later someone came out with a bag for us. We took the bag down to Tierney park and ate at the picnic tables before taking a stroll to the breakwall. We have Telways down in detroit (IYKYK)- and thats always what i compare sliders to. These were tasty- but no Telways. Not enough onions on these for me. However, the meat patty was pretty nice size for being a slider. They were also cooked with just a tad of pink in the middle, which is actually great for me. Fries were fries, and coke was coke. Another place that will be a quick stop next time.

This place has some really good burgers and fries. We drive about 75 miles just to come here once in a while. Situated in a cute little town right off lake huron.

Great food and fast service, if you're not sensitive to a little passive aggressive jokes from the owner then you'll love the place.

The place was maybe 1/3 full. We were seated. The greeter looked at us, turned and walked away, and came back and handed us over to the manager. Never welcomed us. The manager seated us and was polite. He usually greets people and is warm and welcoming. He and I have spoken on numerous occasions, and he is always nice. Once seated, we had at least 3 servers pass by us repeatedly. We were never greeted, never told "be right with you", never spoken to, never received water, or met a waiter. We waited and waited while tables came in, were seated, received water, and so on. I noticed the four people next to us received water and were never helped again. I only noticed because, like us, they were looking around. The place was full of staff. Setting for future tables, chatting, but... no service. We got up and left. Sadly, we will no longer make the drive. The food prep has been declining, and the service has gone from tolerable to ridiculous. We came to have a nice meal. We get treated way better at our local coney. If this was the first or second time I would never post. We refer people here frequently, but now I feel bad for recommending it. It is a lovely place, great menu and it is just not working. Response to comment below: Please note: We love the restaurant. Note the comments from others leaving fewer stars revolve around service. When a business has a hidden issue that may not show up "on the books", often there is a slow, silent client decline of the core customer base. I know it will hop during tourist season so maybe the owners do not care. But the care that went into the menu, the quality of the food products being purchased, and bringing a Detroit quality of food to Lexington leads me to believe they do, indeed, care. We called other places and every single one was packed within a 35 mile radius. One got us in and they said hello when we walked in. And the server was slammed but said "be with you shortly" We are not snobs. The manager walked by our table at least four times and several waitresses walked past, we looked, we raised our hands. It was like an SNL skit. We did not receive even an acknowledgment for the 20 minutes we sat there with servers passing by repeatedly. It has happened at other restaurants, and we get up and let someone know. In this case, so many people were right there, literally inches from us as we turned to flag. It was bizarre. So, thought I would try to get the attention of the owners. Keep in mind my post also said we had medicocre service several times prior. So I was raising a flag. I also mentioned there was a surplus of staff across the room chatting. No one was helping the servers, getting water, making sure the room was flowing. This will cause a bottleneck in the kitchen as well and delay table turnover on what should be a very busy night. So I am not just being a person who thinks I am too good. We could have flagged, eaten, and had the poor service continued as it had on at least 3 prior occasions, we would have just quietly chosen to head to the Detroit area in the future. Because if we plan a nice evening out, the overall experience is also taken into consideration. Look at my Yelps. I rarely comment and its always positive. If it were my restaurant, I would want to know. And when we called all the fine dining within an hour drive and you could hear how busy they were, I realized we may not be the only ones walking away. Because this restaurant was more than half empty. It is a great place. Blessings.

We also got the cheesy spinach artichoke dip and it actually was like cheese dip. I was so disappointed because I love spinach artichoke dip and there was about 2 pieces of artichoke in it and maybe 4 pieces of spinach. I'm serious! It was not good. Unless you want cheese dip - stay away from the spinach artichoke dip!! P.S. the owners' response to my review was "stay home"!!!

Sure, it looks welcoming and friendly enough, but there is no way of knowing just how OUTRAGEOUSLY good the flipping food is. After one visit, WTSP is immediately on our favorite places list, and we cannot wait to come back. The burgers are out of control good, regardless if you get the smash patty or the more traditional hand patty. The bread is homemade in the best way possible, and the attention to details - the absolutely perfect fries as example - shine through. This food is made by a kitchen that cares.
