I've seen my daughter grow and develop so much since joining, socially and emotionally too. She's more confident, more curious, and genuinely happy to go to school every day, which as a parent means everything. The WORST EXPERIENCE in this so called "school" They have…read moreunqualified people working with these small children. My son attended this school a total of 3-4 weeks. In that short time, I noticed several red flags. PARENTS if your heart is telling you otherwise LISTEN to your heart. Starting with the first person you speak to at the very entrance, Mayra (the front desk) lady. Very standoffish and rude. She must forget she works with small children and not in a prison. My son had a BAD accident at this school. He's only 3! The staff at this facility do not know what protocol means. My mom picked up my son only to find him bleeding, and with both lips swollen, marks of old blood on his face, possible a nose bleed too. This aid person literally handed off my son to my mom and said here you go, my mom immediately noticed and instantly asked what had happened. Not only did they LIE but they did not provide first aid, not until my mom asked how this happened did they bring my son back into the school and denied my mom access into the school. What happened while they took back inside and my mom waited outside I will never know. They filled an incident report after the fact. And completely LIED about what happened. He clearly fell down, truth be told I will never know what really happened. They also tried to have me sign a different incident report a day after !!!! They added more things to the report which is ILLEGAL! And incident report is a legal document. They LIED about what happened. No one informed me, didn't get a call from the principal. NOTHING! DO NOT SEND YOUR BABIES HERE! They are unqualified and unprofessional. The principal Mr. Lim allows the staff to do whatever they want with these kids. It's unfortunate that more than 50% of the parents here don't know that they too have a voice and should speak up against the school. Wether it's a language barrier or not, all parents have a voice, we are our children's advocates. My 12 year old also attended this school 10 years ago. It was bad then and it's still bad now. Don't let them fool you during orientation. They said they were big on "communication" that's a lie! They load up your children with SUGAR, and unhealthy foods. Children aren't allowed to bring their own food. I tried reaching out to the teacher via the dojo app 2x with feedback regarding my son. She never replied, not until I asked to speak to the principal. The teacher and the principal were both very dismissive of my feelings and the entire situation. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE.

My overall experience with this school has been very disappointing. I feel that the principal,…read moreassistant principal, and some staff have not treated my children or me with the level of respect and professionalism I expected. At times, I felt that staff would gang up on me as a parent instead of working with me to address concerns involving my children. There also seem to be very few events and activities for the students, while there are frequent fundraisers and requests for families to contribute money. As a parent, I would like to see more of those efforts go towards meaningful experiences and opportunities for the kids. I will say that there are a few great teachers who genuinely care about their students, and I appreciate the positive experiences my children have had with them. However, based on my overall experience, I would not recommend this school. I believe my children would benefit from a school with stronger communication, more parent support, more student activities, and a more positive school environment.

Girls Academic Leadership Academy easily the worst school I have ever attended. I attended GALA…read moreduring 6th and 7th grade, and while I hoped it would be an empowering, supportive place for girls, it turned out to be anything but that for me. I was indirectly bullied often by people in my own friend group. They made fun of my skirt length, my shoes, my hair, and even my social media posts. Even those I considered close friends ended up talking behind my back. GALA loves to preach about "leadership," but where's the leadership when it comes to protecting students? They have a real problem holding people accountable. Even when someone causes repeated issues, they refuse to expel or discipline them properly. It's like they're more worried about keeping their record clean than actually creating a safe environment. People like me end up leaving while the problem students stay. And don't be fooled by the word "leadership" in the school's name. If you're not accepted into the very limited leadership elective, you basically get no real leadership opportunities at all. So unless you're handpicked, you're left out of what they claim to be all about. Oh, and this is supposed to be a STEM school? Then explain to me why for half the school year, we didn't even have a science teacher. That's not just ironic--it's unacceptable. Advisories are another joke. They try to brand them as "your family," but I felt completely out of place in mine. I asked to be moved and was told I couldn't because it was a community. I being forced to stay in an uncomfortable environment every morning for 7 years. Yea, no. The only teacher I had any respect for was Mr. Hale, Mr.Mulka, and Ms. Roque, the computer science teacher, my math teacher and my PE teacher. They were the only adults in the school who made me feel seen, safe, and supported. I'll always be grateful for them. GALA is great at hiding all of this for sure. And I was fooled and I was excited to go here. But the reality? It gave me anxiety so bad that even the color purple reminds me of how terrible it was. Sure, there are a few nice people at GALA, but not enough to outweigh the toxic environment. This is just my story. I know some students love GALA and have had positive experiences but that simply wasn't the case for me. If you're considering this school, I strongly encourage you to take everything I've said into consideration and go in with open eyes and mental preparation.

Everyone was so carrying and would go the extra mile for your children. That feeling that made you feel you were at home and that your children were getting the best care, is gone. It's all business now. All about that $$$. We even had an annual fundraiser, where the parents attended a dinner and made a donation to the school but now the school is canceling the dinner but is still requiring you to make your donation! Their billing is all screwed up. The school acknowledged that they were overcharging us but wanted us to pay anyway or else our daughter was not allowed to return to school. One of the sisters supposedly had her receipt book locked up, so they did not have access to it and she was on medical leave. So the school pretty much said, "we are going to overcharge you and if we find any payments in her receipt book you will be issued a credit". Very unprofessional and inconvenient for us. It would have been smart to get this from the sister before she went on leave. Along with a list of other things that were cut and/or changed. Our daughter will not return this school year.

The combination of academic standards and sense of community is second to none. The emphasis on compassion and kindness is seen across all aspects of the school: administrators, teachers, students, and support staff. After taking a tour, I could tell that the campus and amenities were top notch but it wasn't until we got to hear 6th graders speak first-hand about their experience at Brawerman that we were convinced this is the best place for our children to attend school. These 6th graders spoke with confidence and shared their experiences at Brawerman. They have a buddy system were older students are buddies and mentors to younger students, giving them all an opportunity to be mentors and mentees. Finally, I would not overlook the school's diversity which may not be obvious at first sight. Our family is from El Salvador and we have formed friendships with other families from Mexico, Argentina, Israel and Europe that attend the school. We are blessed to be part of this community and encourage prospective parents to take a tour and see for yourself what Brawerman can offer.

From the time they…read morewere little through having an 8th grader, our kids have thrived, gaining solid academic preparation, well-rounded interests, and a sense of belonging to a warm, welcoming, and active community.   The teachers at St. Brendan are terrific at all levels, starting with the expert Kinder teacher who helped set up one wiggly five-year-old for success and taught another to love reading over Zoom in COVID, all the way through Middle School teachers leading sophisticated discussions of novels and social issues and shepherding kids though high school applications.  When our kids have needed support, the teachers and the Principal, Mrs. Young, have been there and all along, our kids have been seen for who they are, cared for, and championed.  I also love that as a Catholic school, discussions around service and social justice are integrated into daily learning; our family is Catholic but many St. Brendan families aren't and the focus is largely on common values. St. Brendan also offers a wide range of opportunities for kids to learn teamwork and leadership and to expand their horizons, from successful but inclusive sports teams, to a spring musical that levels up every year, to a popular scouts program, and lots more.  The art program at St. Brendan is a standout; all grades have class weekly and the students make some truly remarkable pieces. That said, what really makes St. Brendan unique is the emphasis on togetherness and community.  The older kids look out for the little ones, with each upper grade student assigned a little buddy they spend time with throughout the year, helping our middle schoolers stay playful while learning responsibility.  Every family contributes service hours to the school, meaning parents are highly invested and present every day.  Our collective efforts add to the offerings for the kids and in the process, we've gained wonderful friendships and a sense of belonging.  I can honestly say there is always something fun happening at St. Brendan! As we start to look to the next chapter, we couldn't be happier to have found this amazing school.

Our Experience at This School - A Deep Disappointment…read more We enrolled our son at this private Catholic school with high hopes, trusting in its mission to protect and nurture the children of God. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing and concerning. This situation happened approximately one year ago, and as parents, we were devastated. It took us a long time to fully process everything that happened--not because we didn't care, but because our top priority was always to protect our son and make sure he was emotionally safe. The pain caused by what happened didn't affect only him--it hurt us deeply as his parents and family. We had to rely on loved ones for emotional support to cope. Now, after time and reflection, we feel able to speak about it because this should never happen again. When our son faced conflict with other students, the school's response was troubling. Instead of fairness and compassion, his teacher reacted with harshness. Her behavior was relentless and cruel toward a 12-year-old child. That conduct was inappropriate and did not reflect Catholic values of safety and respect. As a teacher, her role should have been to guide and support students--not judge or take sides. She clearly took sides, damaging the trust our son had placed in her. He initially felt safe and confident but felt betrayed. She never tried to talk with him about what happened or gave him a chance to explain himself. We were also disturbed when the teacher held a private conversation with our son without informing us. That happened during questionable disciplinary action, which we found unacceptable. We are concerned she held a personal grudge against him--something no school should allow. No child should feel singled out or intimidated by a teacher. It became clear she did not want our son in her class or at the school. She bullied him and damaged his self-worth so deeply we worried for his mental health. He no longer felt safe; he felt scared, anxious, and uncomfortable. He feared constant judgment, which made learning impossible. We also saw a divide between students who started young and those who joined later. New students were not treated equally or supported fully. This extended to extracurriculars--our son was excluded from sports for lacking experience, which left him isolated and discouraged. Eventually, we had to enroll our son in a new school. Transitioning to middle school was hard enough; being pushed out of a school he loved made it even harder. The school should be ashamed of how this was handled. No one stood up for him, and a teacher abused his trust and undermined his success. The school claims to follow Christ's example and hold high moral standards. That should include compassion, protection, and forgiveness. But these values were only words, not reflected in actions. The school failed to protect our son and allowed personal biases to guide decisions. Because of all this, we made the difficult decision to withdraw our son immediately. It was heartbreaking, but we no longer believed he was safe in that environment. We hope the school reflects and makes changes to prevent other children from suffering similarly. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this school--especially for students entering in later grades.
