I realized Monday night that I left my charger for my hearing aids. Tuesday morning, I began making calls to find a charger. After having made calls for an hour or so, I called this company. The lady on the phone, Liz, suggested that I come by for a possible match of another charger. I have Phonak hearing aids and the charger is specific to the brand. Liz suggested that she call the Phonak company and upon doing so, she was able to get me a replacement charger for free as my hearing aids are in warranty. No one from any company suggested that they could help but this lady did! On Thursday, I received a new charger at no cost to me. I travel often to the McAllen area for business and I will be changing doctors to American Discount Hearing.

The…read morestaff here was very kind to her and Mr. Pruneda was very patient with her and took time to ask her questions to evaluate her condition. He explained about the capabilities of each device and their costs and in general treated her with respect and never resorted to any high pressure tactics to convince her to purchase a device. I would have no problem recommending American Discount Hearing to any friends or other family members.

What I'm not happy about is their lack of concern for the paying costumer. I came in to pay my Mom's bill and I waited over 30min before someone came to help me. I even had to knock on the wall and say "hello" in order to get the attention of someone. The lady came out and told me she was with a patient after the patient had left already and even knowing I was there waiting, she still didn't come out right away until I said something. I completely understand she was with a patient but she could have asked what it was that I needed and inform me how long it would take. It literally took her no more than 2-3min to charge me and give me the receipt. The way you conduct your business is everything. We are the costumer and as a medical professional and in my job, I take this very seriously! Always be courteous to your costumers!

My husband got hearing aids from this center and all was well...at first. Then one of his aids…read moreneeded repair but we were in the process of moving to another state. He went to a h/a center where we now live and after the repair they needed to settings (to save us the cost of a new hearing test). I called and asked them to send that information and they gave me "the runaround." To make a long story short, they did not send the settings for well over a week and not until after several phone calls from us and the new hearing aid center. They gave every excuse in the book ("we're too busy today" "they want us to send the entire file" (this was NOT true), and other inane excuses). So I would say that maybe if you continue to be their customer/patient all will be well, but don't expect them to help you out if you are not longer in McAllen.

I went here years ago for throat issues and I saw Cesar. I never liked him or the care he gave me…read more He was always sarcastic and rude when I was struggling with issues. When I just needed help. The receptionist was great, and I love that she recognized me whenever I walked in. The other doctor/PA Jonathan was also good to me. But both Cesar and Dr. Glatz never treated me good and would exaggerate my attitude and tone when writing/recording their notes. Highly don't recommend.

They both mentioned how much they had missed out on for years. So that prompted me to think maybe I should get my hearing checked. When I saw Dr. Steel I asked him if he could recommend a good audiologist. And he set me up at the Mackie Clinic. When I arrived I had the normal paperwork to fill out and after that was promptly ushered to see Dr. Mackie. The first thing he did was check my ears for ear wax. And boy did he find a bunch! Then I got to visit the audiologist to see if there were any deficiencies in my hearing. Sure enough, I was showing problems with high-frequency hearing loss. Visiting with the audiologist Marco Pulido we discussed the various devices available. Then we decided on a set of devices which I must say are working fantastically well. In fact, they are so good I hate to go without wearing them. And the follow-up visits are great too as he continues to fine-tune them for me and gives me additional pointers on the proper care for them. So, even if you are not sure you are having hearing problems, just to have things checked out you might consider giving the clinic a call.
