And get lost in the selection of curated items that they stock -- including interesting books on all kinds of topics from Ernest Shackleton (one of Charles's not-so-distant ancestors) to farm-to-table cookery, fountain pens, and local maple syrup. The proprietors, Charles and Miranda, are usually buzzing around somewhere. They are two of the friendliest business owners I've met and will take time out of their day to talk to you about their lives and work in this part of the world. They will make you long for the New England country life...also, if you're tempted by a mug, talk to Miranda. She has some wonderful thoughts on mugs and how they accompany us through our daily lives and should therefore be functional and beautiful and make you happy every time you use them (this is basically the overarching philosophy of ST)...your choice of mug says a lot about you, apparently...just try not to overthink it ;) The prices are commensurate with the long and loving labor that goes into each piece -- which means that I'll be saving up for my first Shackleton Thomas four poster bed (or maybe cocktail cabinet?) for the best part of my career. But do not fear! Thanks to the wonderful selection of pottery "seconds" that make it to the shelves, a unique mug or cereal bowl are within reach of every budget. Definitely do check out the seconds (bits of pottery pieces that didn't make the cut -- think: a tiny smudge of glaze where it shouldn't be, or a decorative rabbit with one ear slightly bigger than the other made by an apprentice potter). All three of the mugs I've bought here have been seconds (less than $35 each, I think) and I think their tiny flaws make them even more beautiful than the "perfect" version. In fact, I am about to drink my morning coffee from my favorite Devonshire mug (I love the combination of rough and smooth, and the understated, earthy tones). All-in-all, definitely stop by if you're in the area. You will leave inspired and humbled by ST's commitment to creating beautiful and useful (and never pretentious) objects by hand, and with a new (and better) reason to save your pennies!

Being an amateur furniture maker myself and also having been in the wood industry my whole career, I love wood. The furniture that Brent and his craftsmen make at Clear Lake Furniture is top notch. They have many different designs that you will not find in any furniture store and the quality is exceptional. After we checked out the showroom with a good representation of the what they can do I noticed a sign on the doorway that leads down to there shop which invites you to go down and explore the shop and talk with their craftsmen. Well I couldn't pass that up so down we went. We were welcomed by Mark who was very glad to show us around and see some of the beautiful woods they use to make their amazing furniture. He also explained that each piece of furniture is made by one craftsman from start to finish. So if you are interested in some handcrafted custom furniture, do yourself a favor and check them out. Checked on it two months later and was told it had not been ordered. This is over a period of nine months. The boss contacted Lazy Boy and was told it would be ready in 6 weeks. Finally got it. Not good service at all. Happened by there this week, June 16, 2025. The store was locked with Sheriff's Eviction Notice and No Trespassing Notice on the door. There are several floors with aisles of merchandise. You can spend hours browsing for items. It's located in a strip mall with other shops including where you can purchase Vermont Cheese and Maple Syrup. You can also sample wine and spirits nearby. On nice days they sometimes have a flea market in the parking lot with all sorts of items including antiques. There is always ample parking. A must stop if in Vermont.

We entered through a door with a giant bear next to it for photo opps, and into the part with all kinds of fun Vermont (maple) treats, drinks, and other snacks. Then there was main floor, upstairs, and downstairs to see. Missed downstairs since I heard that was mostly furniture, and I spent about 2.5 hours scouring all the rest. Prices were all over the place, as is so often the case with antique malls. Bargains and Zingers abounded. Because I bought so many smaller items, it overwhelmed the young man doing the check out, and it soon before they were closing. He did not know how to prioritize, and unlike the ladies that opened the 2nd register, he did not go over all that I bought, confirming the details, which frustrated me, because I'm pretty sure I got overcharged for a couple things. So, make note, and add up stuff yourself if you are buying more than a handful of items. The staff sprinkled throughout to help open cases to show you merch were all very friendly and eager to help. If you're antiquing through New England, I definitely think this should be on your list!
