Anyway, even if they weren't the cheapest, they were the ONLY one backed by the national air duct cleaners association, 4* listed on Angie's List, and a BBB rating of A+, so I hired them to clean just my dryer vent for now. I will schedule a full furnace duct cleaning in the Spring. They came out on time and were very professional and kept my laundry room clean! I am so happy with the work they've done -- especially with the outside dryer vent opening. Not only did the two guys clean the inside of the dryer vent, they cleaned the opening outside the house (something the last service failed to do). When finished, the dryer was turned on and not a drop of lint was flying outside the vent, proving that the vent was spit spot clean! Highly recommended!!!!!

They arrived on time, were professional, and cleaned up after themselves. At the time, I felt confident that the service had been done thoroughly. However, the dryer vent cleaning did not help so a few weeks later I called a dryer repair service who confirmed my dryer was working effectively and suggested disconnecting the dryer vent ducts to check for an obstruction. When we did, a significant amount of lint was removed--far more than should have been present after a professional cleaning. This was extremely concerning, not only because the service was expensive and clearly not completed to a quality standard, but also because we were unknowingly put at increased risk for a house fire while believing the vents had been fully cleaned. I emailed photos to the company. Their response was that they would need to come back out and redo the service - that we could easily 'stage' a photo like this. I declined, as my husband had already cleaned and replaced the ducts, leaving nothing for them to redo. Despite this, they refused to offer a refund, partial refund, or credit. Additionally, the woman I spoke with was very rude, repeatedly interrupting me, raising her voice, and not allowing me to explain the situation. She seemed more annoyed with me than concerned about the situation. What makes this even more troubling is that during the initial visit, the company recommended additional treatments for 'possible' mold based on their findings. Given what we later discovered, I no longer trust their assessment or their work and will now need to pay for a second opinion. This entire situation was unnecessary, stressful, and costly. While I am disappointed about the lack of refund, my greater concern is for other clients--especially elderly individuals or single parents--who place their trust in this company and may not have the ability to verify the work themselves or afford to pay someone else to correct it. As much as I would love to be able to recommend this company, based on my experience, I cannot recommend them. Update: While I very much appreciate the quick response to my review from the business owner, unfortunately, much of the information in the response was inaccurate as it relates to my conversation with his staff. A follow up call from the owner to dig a bit deeper into the concern would have gone a long way in restoring trust in the company and moving things in a positive direction. That did not happen.

The repaired brickwork was not straight and square which I noticed shortly after the repair but, was willing to live with but I was told that they did not rebuild it to the correct height and the fact that they did not replace the flue liner is an issue. For those of you that have not priced these things out before, quite a bit has changed over time...like the cost! Also, technology has moved on as well, so it's virtually impossible to replace "just the condenser" without all the additional furnace components...they simply won't work together. We called several HVAC contractors...one of them being the large energy company we all know in this area. They came in and did their inspection and were very professional. But their price was 50% higher than the local competition. Yes you read that right!! I wasn't concerned about the "big guys" doing it right, since they are our current utility firm and we have appliance contracts through them. But in light of these tough economic times, I really wanted to give it to a small business. I just wasn't sure how well they would stand behind their work and whether they would do it right the first time. I did research and found two other options. The one that really stood out was AAA Comfort Air in Cream Ridge, NJ. They had over 95 five-star reviews, and although anyone can fake a review, I still felt compelled to do my due diligence. I set an appointment for Emil (the owner) to come in and assess the situation. He was professional, took his shoes off before entering (not at our request), and clearly laid out what was needed and NOT what was most expensive. As a matter of fact, he recommended options that were less expensive vs. those that would simply feed his wallet without added benefit to us. His demeanor was polite, knowledgeable, and he took the time (over 1-hour) to really explain everything without pushing for the sale. Additionally, there are some unique challenges in our home that require minimal dust due to some family health issues and he offered to put up plastic to separate the rooms to ensure a clean work environment. Well, much to my surprise, Emil, came back with an estimate that was truly outstanding vs. simply "competitive". Likewise, his firm provides a 3-year parts and labor warranty (not an option...he just provides it) along with the condenser manufacturer's 10-year. The others only offered 1-year.... that in of itself really resonated with me! We decided to move forward, and I have to say, we made the right decision. Emil and his team were outstanding. They arrived on time, ready to go, and their work was outstanding. Everything was done in one day, with a clean install and a fully working system. Look, HVAC replacement won't make your home look nicer, but it surely is important. No one wants to spend that kind of money unless they have to. Emil and his team were not only very competitive, but they delivered on their promises and were very customer focused. If you are seriously considering a project like this, you need to consider AAA Comfort air. They deliver on their promises and care about their customers.
