Where do I start? My son (4 at the time) would not interact with us very much, would speak less…read morethan 20 words, and had several violent outbursts when we tried to change any activity or if his iPad would "die". When Big Solutions came into our lives we were hesitant because these were strangers who were going to socialize with our son and as parents we were scared of negative outcomes. Julian's journey began with his initial assessment and eventually to in home therapy. He was assigned 3 therapists including 1 supervisor. They (Ari, Claudia, Joy, & Paulina) are blessings!!! They connected with Julian but also became our teachers! They helped all of us with Julian's needs and how to understand what he was seeking, whether it be physical or emotional. As a parent with a child with autism, sometimes it's too easy to become frustrated and lose hope in any progress they may not meet. An example was my son's eloping. His father and I had no clue how to predict it or manage it. We would all take excursions to our local mall and his therapists were there with us the entire time. We learned to predict when he would run off, and why. He was seeking attention and sometimes just over stimulation so we learned to ask him to use verbal and non verbal cues of where he wants to go. Fast forward to three weeks ago while visiting an outlet shopping center (yes we wore masks) and we practiced all of those steps and he didn't elope! Had it not been for Big Solutions I would not see us going out with much ease as we have been. This is an agency that turned our life around and became part of our family while maintaining their professionalism. Big Solutions ENTIRE staff, from scheduling to in home, were amazing and extremely accommodating. They consistently helped Julian with communicating in various ways and adjusting to unexpected changes that happened every day. Big Solutions also helped us as parents in not give up and letting frustration and fear run our lives. They taught us so much and how to cope with unexpected outbursts and helping our son focus on his school. We were definitely lost in the ASD world and Big Solutions led us to a place where consistency, patience, and goals were good starting points for any situation. Thank you Big Solutions!

I have come to realize the firm, in Mission Hills, controlled by the CEO/BCBA lacks an 'inspired…read moregrowth' in company culture and inability to provide a healthy work environment. This specific firm seems to abide by social cliques and favoritism, making it difficult to collaborate as a team and move up in positions. The lack of respect, synergy, and compassion has hemorrhaged quality workers. Their lack of staff (BTs/BCBA) is due to: Abrupt schedule changes, extensively watching you work through cameras, hostile training, CEO/BCBA shifting blame to BTs, and inability to give a WELL DESERVED promotion. There is a lot of restraints/holds that are not documented or shared. CEO/BCBA has dual relationships with certain clients and is NOT proactive with their clients. If you agree with how they treat their employees, imagine the impact they have with your child. They have withheld information to parents about what happens in the workplace, and has had the police called on them to IMMEDIATELY share a report to insurance and to parents. Look somewhere else! This forced plenty of Behavioral Technicians to spread their ethics very wide, while simultaneously being gaslighted, micromanaged, and exploited. This is a toxic, passive aggressive, workplace that does not hold empathy for their employees. You will exhaust your efforts working alongside the incompetent CEO/BCBA. The micromanagement and dishonesty due to their lack of mentorship has driven many people out of the company. Here's a piece of advice: Treat ALL of your colleagues with kindness, they are the backbone of your company. Turn your attention to your clients best interests and continually build rapport. Don't bite off more than you can chew! Projection is uncanny in the workplace.

In this case, United Children's Learning Academy (UCLA) is castle of education for our daughter and her classmates. The school balances art, math, music, science and physical fitness. Not going to lie that the school that our Child attended in Seattle was next to a water canal that is part of Lake Washington that links Lake Washington to Puget Sound. It was beautiful. While UCLA is not located next to a lake or park -- the school, the teachers, the administrators and the parents work together to create unique and beautiful experiences for our children in and outside of the classroom. Did I mention the strong diversity and inclusion of the students and their parents? I have spent time inside and outside the classroom with teachers, parents and our Child's classmates -- theatre, halloween, birthday, shopping, Dad's hanging out with the kids, etc. I truly believe that inside each classroom there is royalty. In these classrooms, there are tiny humans that will eventually grow up one day to lead different people, ventures, organizations, countries, etc. UCLA provides our Child the structure, social time, interaction time, empathic limits, downtime and education that preschoolers need to one become successful King and Queens.

It's been over a year since we moved and let me tell you: it's taken an autism therapist, a respite worker, and a part-time caretaker to replace this special group; and that's just our services at home! The team is a knowledgeable group of nurses and caretakers who understand early childhood development. They care very much for the families that are enrolled and work to help parents find the coverage and resources to help with finances involved with enrollment. What's more, they TRULY LOVE THE CHILDREN. We remain in contact with the team and our kids no longer attend Kidz Kingdom! If you live in the San Fernando Valley and your child needs more than just an average daycare situation, connect with Kidz Kingdom. For us, they were essential! .

Well, I know why she's done so well, as the BCBA Supervisor, JoAnn, and her team of Behavior Technicians who teach my daughter, are nothing short of STELLAR. JoAnn designs and writes new treatment plans for my child every week, depending on what she needs to learn or keep learning, and tells her team of Technicians what needs to be done every day. My daughter has made deep connections with her teachers (Technicians), who each have gone through rigorous training at CARD: Mario, Luis, Jocelyn, and Mila. They work one-on-one with my daughter during her 8-hour day (she has 40 hours of ABA therapy a week, and no, it's not too much) and, at this point, know how much or little to push her so that she can reach her goals. JoAnn tells me exactly what my child is learning, what she needs to work on, what her goals are, and she comes to our house often to teach me how to help my child maintain what she's learned at the clinic. JoAnn, the other Supervisor at this clinic, Pastora, and ALL OF THE BEHAVIOR TECHNICIANS and administrators (Brooks and Rebecca) at the NoHo location, are the best in the business, as far as I'm concerned. They love the kids and young people that they work with, and do everything that they can to help them grow and learn. They see their work as both an art and science, and take it seriously, but most importantly, they care deeply about their clients. This is priceless. As a parent of a child with special needs, I've had to unlearn and learn anew over and over again, and I am grateful to this clinic, for teaching me as I try to understand my daughter's world and how to help her grow. I wish I knew about the origins of ABA therapy when my daughter was first diagnosed, as I would have known about Dr. Lovaas, and then the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, and Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh. I'm also very glad that CARD has such a strong parent support group with their Orientation Team: Shannon, Vincent, Lisa, etc.. If you're a parent(s)/guardian/caretaker in search of a GREAT ABA clinic, well, here it is.

UNBELIEVABLE, LIES, LIES AND LIES... SHAME ON YOU…read more.. SHAME ON THIS COMPANY. I started talking to these people early Oct. 2018. I told them I need ABA services for my son ASAP, and asked them if they had enough staff to start soon? They said "yes". BIG FAT LIE!! 1- I kept faxing and emailing the forms they wanted, but they claimed that they didn't receive the documents. It took almost two weeks and after many emails and faxes (which I got "OK" with the correct page numbers each time from the fax machine) for them to say they got the documents. 2- After a couple of weeks I contacted them for updates. They told me that my insurance didn't reply to them!! I called my insurance and I was told NOBODY AND NO AGENCY CONTACTED THEM. THEY LIED TO ME,THEY NEVER CONTACTED MY INSURANCE, and wanted to drag it for a long time. I think they didn't have enough staff to start and just giving excuses. 3- Finally after many calls, the communications started between them and my insurance. BUT AGAIN, A COUPLE OF MORE WEEKS PASSED BY AND STILL NO ANSWER... still waiting.... 4- Finally they sent somebody for the assessment (which by the way, we had many assessments before, but they wanted their own). And again, the lady who came for assessment ( and did NOTHING) wanted another observation and assessment. She came yet for ANOTHER OBSERVATION AND DID NOTHING... NOTHING... ZERO... 5- Another couple of weeks passed and nothing happened. I called again and asked, when they were going to start the program? THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE WAITING A REPLY FROM MY INSURANCE. I CALLED MY INSURANCE THE SAME DAY AND I WAS TOLD (by my insurance), THAT THEY (my insurance), REPLIED TO THEM (center for autism & related services) AND center for autism and related services NEVER REPLIED BACK TO MY INSURANCE. THEY IGNORED THE DEADLINE DATE SET UP BY MY INSURANCE AND IGNORED MY INSURANCE NOTIFICATIONS. THEY LET IT EXPIRE, while I was waiting for the services for my son, and they told me that the insurance didn't respond,WHICH WAS A BIG FAT LIE!! .... SHAME ON YOU... SHAME ON YOU... SHAME ON YOU... On top of all these problems, THEY SENT ME A BILL, FOR DOING NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! .......SHAME ON YOU....

It's unfortunate because they have some really great people working for them and my child did improve, but we are still paying for it, literally and figuratively, when things should have been covered had they done their job. So unless you are 100% sure that all of your services will be completely covered by insurance, I would steer clear, or it will cost you big time.
