A special highlight of education at Sunflower Montessori is the annual Christmas showcase. This is a time where all the hard work the students have put in with their spectacular music director , Mr. Anthony. He taught my daughter so many great holiday classics, and plenty of Beatles music all-year round. Not only is it a great musical experience, but the Holiday Show also features fantastic Sri Lankan cuisine compliments of Mrs. Roshana as well as potluck contributions from all the parents. My daughter also benefitted from the optional dance/movement/yoga program as well--the definite highlight of her weeks that was so eager to talk about and show us. We're so appreciative to Ms. Roshana and the wonderful teachers at Sunflower. They will forever be in our hearts.

This was his first daycare experience, and Shusha took him in and treated him as her own. His language and social skills blossomed right away. He had always been a very picky eater, but he loved Ms Mariam's cooking, and was always trying new and unexpected foods for the first time. Shusha was so loving and even went out of her way to personally help feed him on the days he struggled. We have since moved, and our son is now five years old. We have since attended three other wonderful schools with our two boys, but none of them compare to Shusha's school. For a nervous mom sending her son to school for the first time, it felt as if we were sending him to a warm, loving relative's home to play for the day. We still see the amazing activities she plans on social media, and think fondly of our son's time there. We are so grateful to Shusha and her team to have had the perfect first school experience.

Leaving our son with Mangala and her staff was the closest thing we could find to dropping him off at grandma's house, which is exactly the homey, safe environment we were looking for. Our son started a few weeks before his first birthday. He learned so much in the 1.5 years we spent there and transitioned from 2 naps to 1. Not only that, but he LOVED being there. Most days it took me over 10 minutes to get him to leave because he was always having so much fun. It was very clear to us that our son loved being there and that Mangala loved him like family. We KNEW he was safe and loved and well cared for and challenged every day. Our family recently left Los Angeles, which is the only reason why we stopped sending our son to First Steps, and leaving this daycare was one of the most difficult things about moving. In fact, my son still asks us almost every day when he can go back to Auntie's house and when he can see Auntie, her helpers, and all of the friends he made. Thank you, Mangala for the work you do with these kids, and we would absolutely recommend her care to other parents.

She always came home clean, fed, and happy, and there were never any injuries or health concerns. I couldn't believe how they had my daughter wearing a hat outside and sleeping in a crib--this helped a lot to create good habits at home, too. The daycare is immaculate, and all the toys are in excellent condition. I'm picky about what my daughter eats, and their menu is great--very healthy. I also love that I never had to worry about sending food with her. Most importantly, the teachers are caring and warm. My daughter LOVED them. They have a system where parents aren't really allowed in the main daycare area except on rare occasions. At first I was skeptical about this, but having experienced it the other way at her new daycare, I think it's actually wise. After a short-lived adjustment period (my daughter's pretty social, so this was only 3 days in her case), she basically never cried again. I would carry her to the front gate, and she would all but LEAP into her teacher's arms, so excited to go play inside. I think it helped that the precedent was clear: if you want to go play with your friends, teachers, and toys inside, you have to say bye to your parents. She often didn't even want to leave school when I came to pick her up; she wanted to stay and watch all the other kids get picked up by their parents. And if she saw her teacher walking home, she would beg me to go over so she could interact with her some more. Anyway, we loved Busy Little Bee, and I'm sure you will, too.

My little STILL talks about how mean her teacher, Ms. Lupe, was to her and it's been over a year since she went here. Let me start by saying these "teachers" do not have degrees. They have certificates at the most. They do not know how to handle toddlers who have lots of energy. Or a special needs child. If you have a passive child, you may be a better fit here. Their way of handling difficult toddlers is to sit them in with the director in a chair. They do not communicate, or know how to communicate, or interpret a toddlers emotional needs, which makes a very frustrated toddler. Ms. Lupe was the worst. Her long sharp dragon lady nails alone shouldn't be allowed in working with toddlers. My 3 yr old child came home reciting "Give me my money" in which she learned with Ms. Lupe teaching them and filming them from a Tik Tok trend. She supposedly was given a warning from director Marisol ( who she is besties with). She came home with injuries multiple times, one being a huge black eye from a "monkey bar injury". She hated going to school every day. I really hope this policy changed, But after your initial tour, you will never see the inside of the school again, even for special holiday programs. They will have an Instagram live so you can watch your child perform. They say they have "an open door policy" because by state law, they have to. But you are not welcomed unannounced. If you buzz the ringer at the director's door, someone with come and crack the door open to see what you want. Then shut the door in your face while you wait outside. The few times I did go into Marisol's office, I heard all the screaming babies and little ones in the room next door. The smell of dirty diapers in the air. When you arrive to drop off or pick up, they meet you at the locked gate, you are NOT WELCOME to ever go inside. You will never be invited back for parent conferences, that is all done over the phone. They want as little contact with you as possible, other than to meet you at the pick up gate to complain about your child, in front of your child. They leave lunch boxes out in the heat and direct sun all day, lie and tell you they keep them inside. Some also don't speak English here. Some teachers speak very little English. They also had some State Violations while we were there. One being that they had lied about how many kids they had at the facility. This place is truly a mill. The ONLY kind and compassionate teachers that we encountered were Ms. Dalilah and Ms. Favi. Like I said, our experience was over a year ago, and I hope things have improved and changed. Please research and interview preschools before making that huge decision, these are our babies and most can't talk or are just starting to talk and put sentences together. And most importantly, TRUST your intuition.

The amount of love, patience, and care every single staff member pours into the kids is unmatched. I've watched my son grow into a kind, smart, and confident little boy -- and so much of that is thanks to the amazing teachers at this school. They didn't just teach him; they truly helped me raise him. There were times when I was exhausted and overwhelmed as a parent, but knowing he was in such good hands gave me peace. These ladies became my village when I needed it most. I will forever be grateful for everything they've done for my son and for me. If you're looking for a daycare or early learning center where your child will be truly seen, loved, and supported -- this is it. Tiny Thinkers will always have a special place in our hearts.

Ms. Irma, the owner, and Ms. Ala, her assistant, are incredible caretakers who truly love what they do. My son started with them right when he turned 12 months and they both guided us through a great process of adapting to their care. I wanted a place that was small and where my son could socialize and learn, after spending his first full year at home with us. We looked for daycares for months and all were either too big for our taste with 20+ kids and lots of teachers or the small ones felt too informal. This place is a great size with just up to 7 kids that start from ages 1 year until they are ready for school. They have a classroom where they learn, have activities, nap, and also an outside area where they play. Irma and Ala keep it very clean, no one can come into the space (you are greeted at the outside gate due to health protocols) they are mindful of hygiene and make sure everyone is healthy, which is important when you are dealing with kiddos. Communication is key, and Irma sends constant texts and keeps you informed as the day progresses with the cutest pictures of the kids in their activities that range from painting or playdough, or even cooking (safely, of course). I have seen my son flourish in their care and loved that they have different ages as my baby has learned so much from the older kids as well. Every day he comes home with a new word or skill and is so happy and full of energy (and clean!) Their approach is very loving and caring, my son loves to go and gets excited as we head out every morning saying his little friends' names. You can expect home-style breakfast & lunch as well as snacks, they keep a schedule so you know what to expect as far as food + naps but are open for pickup any time as long as you don't interrupt activities. The daycare is open from 8:00-5:30 pm. We've loved having them be part of our story and our family.
