Awesome and fast service! These guys patched a tire for me in a couple hours time and charged me less than $20!

I have been bringing my much loved 2007 Subaru to Meer, his son, and their knowledgeable team of mechanics for years...and I LOVE these guys. They are so smart, professional, fair...and frankly, kind. I come from a family of Boeing engineers, who all seemed to own a bunch of cars, sports cars, boats, and trucks in the Seattle area. (So, I grew up around people that knew how to repair their own vehicles and boats....) Meer is a former military pilot...owner of the business for many years...and he knows his stuff. So, does his son Richard. I trust them to do be honest, do a thorough and good job...and not to rip me off (as a female attorney who does not know that much about engines and cars...) My Subaru is manual transmission. They will service your car...and if you have a Hoboken resident parking sticker, they will park it for you around the neighborhood to ensure you don't get a parking ticket. (They also service non-resident owned cars....) Quick turn-around times. HONEST, good quality service, transparently priced...good communication...full service...and it is literally a joy to bring my car to Willow Sunoco. LOVE this business...and wish all businesses in Hoboken were this excellent. read more

Fuck them. I came at opening time and asked how long an oil change would take, they told me 2 hours. I called after 2 hours and asked when it might be ready. They rudely told me "later today," "we'll call you," "later on," basically refused to give me a time. I had a plane to catch in the early afternoon so it mattered how long it would take. I brought my hybrid car here for an inspection and they messed something up with my car. Before I was getting ~35 mpg, after only 19 mpg. I went back and explained what was going on they said they couldn't even look at it for another two weeks and told me to "prove it" that they messed something up. So not only did they mess up my car but they had a lot of bad attitude. Don't waste your money and time with these rude people. read more

Went there to get a tire plugged that had a nail in it. They quoted me $160 to plug it. Insane.

I've been going to Willow Sunoco for as long as I've lived in Hoboken. Most of the time, it's just for oil changes and normal maintenance. This year, I started having more issues with my car and they took care of them quickly. I don't understand how anyone could write a bad review of these guys. I've had nothing but great experiences with them. I usually drop my car off in the morning, they do the work, then park it on the street nearby for me. Look, doing business in Hoboken is expensive. I wouldn't compare prices at Willow Sunoco with some place in the burbs or Union City. Part of living in Hoboken is accepting that things are going to be expensive. These guys have to pay higher commercial rent than they would if they were further into Jersey. I think these guys are honest and nice -- support your local businesses like Willow Sunoco even if they may charge a little bit more. I've always thought they charged a fair rate and have never felt ripped off. read more

I've only had to go here a few times, always for state emissions tests. The guys are friendly, the pricing is fair, and they call when they get the job done. Really can't ask for much more. read more

We had our transmission fixed here...very good price and going on 4 years out from the repair and all is still working fine. The repair came with a - I want to say 2 year warranty - but a decent one whatever it was precisely - we never had to apply it...took about a week or so to get done. Have also gotten tires, brakes, some kind of wheel bearing noise fixed etc fixed here...never a problem with anything. read more

This place is ridiculous. It's a tiny corner shop and they spend so much time shuffling cars around that it's impossible to get service. Owner has a bad attitude on top of that, like it's you're fault for being there. I overheard many people complaining about the work done on their cars while I waited for a repair that never happened. Ended up walking out when I saw so many unhappy customers. read more

I had a flat tire that needed a plug, so I brought it in to the Sunoco and explained my situation. Really nice guys. They told me the tire couldn't be patched because of the location and that they could get me a quote for a new tire. Sounded ok to me. When the manager called me back about the tire he quoted me for a new tire (decently priced), then he explained that I needed a new rim! He told me that the rim was cracked and I needed a new one. I never drove on the rim when the tire was flat and it didn't have a crack in it before. I smell scam artists. I ended going to speak with the manager face-to-face and he never mentioned a crack in the rim. He just explained that they plugged the tire so it could hold air! That is worth 1 star. I was able to drive the car to another shop that was a little more honest. Only needed a new tire :D If you go here, always get another opinion. read more

If you have a German or European car, I HIGHLY recommend avoiding this place. Long story short, I asked Willow Sunoco to fix the heating system in my audi and later found out that besides breaking the climate control, they cracked my engine block in the process. This was after bringing the car back a second time after they tried giving the car back to me with 60 degree heat coming out on the highest setting, and the car sitting there for 2 weeks. I also noticed they cracked pieces in the interior of the car, and the heat still isn't great. There was climate control in the car previously, and it no longer works. I knew I was in for trouble when a CAB DRIVER giving me to a ride to this place warned me that the owner was a thief and he wouldn't even take his car there for an oil change. I also had the car taken to another mechanic after Willow did work on it who told me my engine block was cracked; my engine block was fine before Willow worked on my car. If my car wasn't a 98, I probably would have tried for some recourse. read more

Last night I had tried to pull out of my rare parking spot in Hoboken, but was having problems doing so. I finally get the car out of the spot just in time to hear the boom boom boom of a flat tire. I managed to get the car to the garage at Willow Sunoco. I left the car to be fixed and was called by the owner the next day. The rates he gave me were a little high, he was pretty rude, and he was laughing at my obvious lack of car knowledge. Certified or not, the service did not come with a smile, so I do not recommend it. read more

My go to mechanic.. My car has 250,000 miles on it and is still going. YEAH for Corollas!! Since my car is older and I still drive a lot I come here often. I feel the rates are fare and the service is great! They are always helpful, friendly and prompt. Now this could be due to my VERY frequent visits for gas, oil changes and such .. but I do like and TRUST them. And that is very important .. especially when you car is so old. read more

Usually I get gas from Sunoco out on Hempstead Long Island but I was at work and needed to stop to get gas before a trip. I used my Discover card and the pump said see cashier right after I get a message from discover asking me to confirm the purchase. So I do and the guy pumping the gas says I can't use the card again if it doesn't go the first time not to do it again... so i ask to see a manager and spoke to a guy named meer I tried to explain to him the situation and he didn't want to hear it he was just dismissive and didn't care so I took my service to speed way where I had the same problem but the manager was way more understanding and took my card inside and completed the transaction. read more

Great service station. Got a nail stuck in my tire and called AAA for help. Once I was able to get the car down to Willow Sunoco, they promptly pulled the screw out of my tire and fixed the problem. No waiting, no hassle. Labor and repairs cost 10 bucks. Can't beat that. Friendly guys, too. This will be my go-to mechanic from now on. read more

Great reasonable repairs! They can work on al types of cars. Brought in my Benz because of an auxiliary battery light- foxes quickly, no issues, and half the dealer cost. Hope shops like this never go away. read more

I think even more of Willow Sunoco than I did before. Brought my car in when I heard nasty sounds from the vicinity of the exhaust system--it did indeed need to be replaced. Hey, it's an old car--a '99 Jetta! Anything to keep it going. And Mir and his outstanding staff charge about 1/3 of what the VW dealership would charge. Well, couple of months later more unwanted muffler-like sounds started in again; the diagnosis: a tear (hole?) in the muffler. Who knows how that could have happened but I do drive in some unlevel terrain. It was covered under warranty, and was ready for me in a few days. Didn't charge me a penny and it's purring like a kitten. read more

I would strongly caution anyone from bringing their vehicle to Willow Sunoco given my terrible recent experience. Everything was working perfectly on my late model Mercedes (with less than 70K miles) until I brought the vehicle in for a simple oil change. When I got the car back, a strange noise from the engine compartment was immediately noticeable so I told the manager that something was not right. They agreed that the sound was not there before, said that it might be the oil filter, and asked to keep the car another day to look at it further. The weekend actually went by and only after I called a few times did they finally tell me that the compressor, a/c belt, pulleys and multiple other items needed to be replaced for over $1,500. Of course, I thought this was highly suspect - the car had nothing wrong with it before but somehow 4 days in the possession of Willow Sunoco, it was rendered completely undrivable. They claimed it was normal wear and refused to do anything about it so unless I was willing to pay their fee, I would be forced to tow the vehicle to another shop to get a second opinion (which I ended up doing). The other shop (a Midas) immediately said that it looked like "outside damage" and that the compressor seemed to have been tampered with (they put that in writing). I also took pictures and sent them to a few "Ask a Mechanic" websites online which responded that they agreed with Midas' assessment. I have the written opinions of several mechanics documented, EZPass statements proving the car drove well and at high speeds before the "oil change", and multiple witnesses who can testify that the car did not have any strange noises (or other problems) before taking it to Willow Sunoco. Unfortunately, Willow Sunoco is either incompetent or fraudulent - whichever the case, they certainly do not stand by their work and could be preying on unwitting Hoboken residents (who are either not mechanically inclined or just don't have the time to deal with these kinds of issues). Unfortunately for me, my only recourse appears to be small claims court at this point which is time consuming and costly if a lawyer and/or time off work is needed. This really happened to me so I hope that Yelp doesn't just hide the review for whatever reason they do that - I have a bunch of evidence supporting my claim which I would gladly share if anyone is interested. I hope this review will help spare someone else the pain that I am going through - save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else! read more

I am not sure what everyone is talking about being overcharged!! I have been waiting to write this review since my amazing experience. I noticed my car had been showing a high reading in the temperature gauge aka overheating so I brought it in the next day to Three County Volkswagen to get it checked out. I figured it would be something simple. 2 hours later after I got it back they told me the cost would be $2,200 to fix it. they gave me a print out of everything I "needed" and as I started to have a melt down about what I was going to do I said to myself, I need a second opinion. The guy at the desk strongly advised me not to drive my car as I was putting myself and others on the road at great risk. seeing as I only live 15 minutes away and I had absolutely no way to pay for it I said "I'll take my chances" and left. I ended up calling my girlfriend before I left and she told me to take it to Willow Sunoco on our block. I said to myself, no way I'm not trying to get some jinky half a$$ job, but I ended up going there because the cost was too high at VW and I figured I'll at least let someone else look at the car and tell me the same news. I dropped off my car at Sunoco and long story short the same cost of the repairs turned out to be.... $760!!!!!!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE. The guy there gave me a break down of the costs and I explained how relieved I was to NOT be getting ripped off. I eventually compared prices to what this $HITTY three county place and let me just give you a small comparison of the absolute ridiculousness of this establishment: Sunoco Temperature Sensor - $35.95 3 County Temperature Sensor - $375.00 Sunoco Fan Motors - $250.95 (both were needed) Three County Hell - $925.00 Sunoco Fuel Injection Service- $22.95 Three County BULL$HIT! - $155.00 Moral of the story here folks, if you want a rip off and your rich come on down to three county Volkswagen. This is like buying a bottle at a club, the mark up for parts is 500%. But if you want a great deal go to WILLOW SUNOCO- who won't rip you off. The service was excellent, it took half the time it would have taken had I gone to the sheisty VW, and my car has been running fantastic ever since! Stay away. Every summer I switch off winter wheels AND tires and mount on special racing summer wheels and tires on my Honda . I moved into the area 6 months ago and have a storage bin nearby this gas station . I walk into this place one day after picking up my summer tires from the storage unit, as it was the first place I seen . The owner told me it would be 60 dollars to mount 4 tires! I told him have a nice day and had it done shortly after for 25 bucks . This is a SIMPLE thing to do and would have taken all of ten minuets .. This guys prices are outrageous.. Just happy I learned this from a small job and not something big , like a brake job. Have some knowledge of auto labor and part prices before stepping into this money pit. read more

avoid at all costs. Took my Mercedes here for a tire change figuring it would be expensive but when i recieved the bill the price of the tire was $150 more than what you would get on Tirerack.com. A $350 tire ended up costing me $550.00 Thats insane. Figuring i learned my lesson and this place is close to my job, next time i bought the tire on my own for him to just mount it on my BMW. $40.00 to mount a tire should be criminal. And i learned my lesson. He charges you $3.50 to dispose of the tire he is removing from your car and an "environmental fee" on top of that as well. This guy is insane but will never ever go back here again. He thinks he's doing you a favor but his prices are unreal. He charges accordingly to what vehicle you drive in. read more

One of the worst customer service experiences, really rude staff, no respect for one's car or possession. After having an appointment in awful weather, I was told they didn't want my business because I seemed like a picky customer and that they are not responsible for damages done to the interior. These guys are crooked. I brought my car in to fix a noise in my muffler, but it turned into a regular Rossen Reports situation. They fixed the initial muffler issue, but when I picked up the car it was suddenly making a different noise, and dragging in the front driver-side wheel-- a problem that was not there at all before I brought it in. When my wife brings it back to get them to take a look at it, they say the car needs over $3000 of additional repairs that it somehow didn't need previously. Total scam. read more

The owner seems like a nice guy, but my experience here vs. the dealership reinforces what a few smart people have told me in my life - "always take it to the dealer." My quote here: $1,000+ My quote @ dealer: $300+ After telling the owner of this shop what I knew needed to be done, he went on and quoted me for additional parts (leading to unnecessary labor). The Toyota dealership actually listened to me when I told them about the research I performed, and worked with me to come up with a solution to my problem. At the end of the day, the parts that this store wanted to order me were wholly unnecessary and would have had me another $700 out of pocket. The workers at this station who pump gas and do some repairs are decent guys and helpful. But the owner/manager must see every customer as a potential sucker. He quoted me the exact same cost to replace a passenger side mirror as my dealer. When I told him I could buy the mirror from an online store that is an exact match new, he said he would only install an original factory mirror from Toyota at a ridiculous price. Not a scam, but definitely a rip off! Needed to have a tire replaced and they quoted me $267 for one tire. They said they pay $225 for the tire and then many different fees and taxes amounting to $42. I know the cost of my tires and went online to confirm. If I was to buy the tire myself at retail pricing it would cost me no more than $180, they are a service station and pay wholesale not retail for products. I told them this and they insisted that they pay $225. I suggested they start shopping around. I found Omar's discount Tires in Union City, a 5 minute drive from Hoboken. They ordered and replaced my tire within an hour and charged me $142 for the tire, $176.50+tax for everything (tire disposal, mount tire, balance and tax). read more

Never again! I've used Willow Sonoco in the past for repairs for my 2003 Volvo S80, primarily for convenience. They do a fine job, but ALWAYS find more wrong once I'm given my initial estimate ! This time they "took the Liberty " of replacing a part that they never told me was in need of replacing, and while kindly telling me that there's no extra charge for labor, the part was $367! I looked online , and it can be bought for half of that from parts' discounters! As a single woman I'm sure I'm being taken advantage of. Next time I'll drive to the dealership and let them fix it. I agree with previous postings that they're not much better than thieves! read more

Pretty good service station. I had to have two of my tires changed. I brought in the tires and they swapped them out for me. Took 1 hour for the whole service and the prices were decent. I would use this station again for my service needs. Nice guys and fast service. What else could you ask for? read more

Tried them out on the recommendation of a neighbor and was not disappointed. They do solid work and guarantee some repairs (our transmission repair guaranteed for 2 years - has held up fine for 4 years and counting now)...our transmission was a good deal. And it was done in 3 days. Would highly recommend especially for *real* repairs. But we did have them do tires and tune ups, and brakes and were also happy with the service price and result, so recommended overall. One ding, cuz this is yelp, their gas prices are a little higher than some of the nearby stations...and once in a while their self serve air pump is down, that's it as far as criticism goes. read more

It's one of the few gas stations in Hoboken, located on 13th and Willow. They are a small service station with a few fuel pumps. Dirty little building and all, the station is a quick place to grab gas when you need it or a quick fix on your vehicle. I've only ever been here for gas and it's been fine. read more
