We've been going…read morehere more in the last year or so after we had new landscaping done and needed replacement plants for plants that didn't survive the original planting. We've bought simpler plants like lavender plants as well as a Japanese maple. They have a frequent shopper account that you can accumulate rewards for too. The one thing that's nice is they have a plant guarantee where you can get reimbursed for a plant that doesn't make it, which is great if you don't have a really green thumb. We did use that once for a smaller/cheaper plant and it was no problem. Luckily, the pricier tree has done well. Service is always friendly and responsive. They can recommend suitable plants that fit certain sunlight or water requirements that you might have. Prices are higher than non-nurseries like hardware stores, but the plant quality seems overall higher and the survival guarantee of course is worth a fair amount if you're more of a beginner gardener like us.

From that very first visit, this place stood out--not just for its beautiful selection of plants, but for the incredible knowledge and care behind it. Mercedes is truly the heart of Plant Lush. She has always been so generous with her expertise, whether I'm picking out a new plant or trying to troubleshoot something at home. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does, and that passion makes all the difference. When Mercedes moved the shop to a larger location in Willow Glen, I didn't hesitate to follow--and I'm so glad I did. The new space is even more inviting and has room for even more variety and creativity. One of my favorite memories here was celebrating my 40th birthday at the shop. Mercedes hosted a terrarium-making party for me and about 20 of my family and friends, and it was such a special experience. Everything was thoughtfully organized, fun, and completely unique--everyone left with something they made and loved. Plant Lush isn't just a plant store, it's a community space filled with warmth, creativity, and care. Highly recommend to anyone, whether you're a seasoned plant parent or just getting started.

After spending almost 30 minutes walking around trying to find some plants to purchase using a gift…read morecard I received a few Christmases ago, I was informed at the register that due to their system they were unable to redeem my gift card. It really seemed like the person helping me didn't know really want to help me redeem it, which was disappointing. Telling me to get in touch with the person who gave me the gift card to make them resend me the gift card just puts up a barrier to make me purchase that likely means I won't come back. Also I'm pretty sure it's illegal to decline a valid gift card with no expiration date in California. It's the burden of the business owner to keep good gift card records, not the customer. Update after previous review on another platform: What a disappointing reply from the owner of this business. Rose was literally standing right next to me, who did you think that girl was? We would've happily produced ID if asked for it, but I don't think that was the concern since we weren't asked. The "printed piece of paper" is clearly a plant themed paper gift certificate. Not that uncommon for a small business and it's been in my wallet for the last few christmases since I haven't gotten around to this, clearly for good reason. I own a business, that sells gift cards, if a customer has a gift card to redeem and I'm having trouble finding it/redeeming it, then the burden is on ME, not on the customer. The goal of any business is to lower barriers to purchase, not raise them. What if the person who gave me the gift card died? What if I don't talk to them anymore? What if they deleted their email with the receipt? There are so many scenarios in which it shouldn't be the burden of the customer to find the solution, it's on the business to do so. Mind you, the store was not busy, we were the only people in the store at the time. It felt in the moment, as it does right now, that the owner simply wanted us to leave as opposed to actually helping us redeem the gift card. The lack of customer service is astounding.

I love that they have some rare varieties that other nearby nurseries don't have. The staff are always very kind and eager to help. Some places are a bit grumpy when you ask for help loading soil, but never here. They even give you a discount when buying soil in bulk. I have asked employees here to help me load 50+ bags of soil one time and they did it with a smile on their face the entire time. The trees and berries that I have bought here tend to be bigger for similar prices at other nurseries as well.

While I can't speak to some of the other planes, the selection of Japanese maples here is amazing. Bloodgood, Emperor One, Fireglow, Skeeter's Broom...there are varieties here that I didn't even know existed. The trees come in various sizes and are priced according to how big they are, from smaller sized ones on the cheaper end to huge trees that will definitely require a truck to bring back home. I will say that the pricing is a bit on the higher side (think $200-400 for a maple), but the plants are in good condition and good quality. This is a self serve nursery, so don't expect much in terms of service or help -- but if you know what you're looking for or just want to browse the selection, it's a great place.

This was perfect for me as I've been wanting to purchase a specific plant for a friend and hoped it would be available during this fall season. Found the plant and took it to the nursery register. I was warmly and genuinely greeted by Jackie, who showed me the prettiest orange poinsettia plant! I wasn't in the market for it, but now I wanted it! However, my main purpose was to buy the Tecoma bush at 50% off. I showed Jackie my phone with the email ad. Since there was no barcode scan on the email, she had to try another way to mark my purchase at 50% off. Finally, she had to ask a manager, who tried to say that not all Ace Hardware stores might be participating in this promotion... My husband explained that S. King Rd. location was printed on the email... Then the manager okayed the discount... I was surprised that they were unaware about the Black Friday promotion, but happily I eventually left satisfied. My husband was able to utilize his Ace Rewards membership on the beautiful orange poinsettia! Thank you, Jackie for not giving up!
