Went to my car, wrote a negative review and was preparing to leave when I realized: I needed to tell them my issues with the shop in person if I was going to do so online. So I went in. Started off super upset and was quickly put at ease and the issue was immediately seen to. Here is where things get good. I asked the guy to help me out with a setup. Not only did he do that, but took the time to explain the science behind every step. I'm in this industry and needed some help with some rather advanced questions and this guy really helped out. I have 10 years professional experience and didn't really think I'd learn much during my visit but as soon as the customer service part of our visit was done I quickly realized I'd do well to ask this gentleman questions and listen to the answers. He had 15 years experience that sounded like 30. Planned to spend more than I did and purchase more than I did. I spent less and was assured I didn't need more. Where else, in any industry will someone tell you "oh, you don't need to spend more". It goes against the American capitalist business model not to squeeze me for a bit more cash so you can continue to grow. Thanks. read more

Needed a particular brand of soil and San Jose Hydroponics was a local distributor. So I drove there to support a local business. I ended up learning so much about growing plants in the time I spent in that store. David went out of his way to listen to each one of my questions carefully and respond meticulously. Every suggestion I got from him was reasonable and scientifically sound. I never felt pushed to buy anything from them throughout my time at the store. I went in to get some supplies for my garden. First thing I notice upon walking in, not a single employee is adhering to the "SIP" orders. Nobody was wearing masks, gloves, or adhering to social distancing. I went in with my pregnant wife and was immediately uncomfortable with the lack of social distancing I saw and was forced to experience. Finally go to checkout. All I say is, "It's gonna be a hot one today huh? With everything going on that's gonna suck." The cashier then proceeds to tell me how George Floyd's murder wasn't real. It didn't happen. It was staged and the cop was and is an actor. Then he goes off about how Coronavirus also isn't real and is a hoax by the government. Umm okay? Can I please leave now?!? I am so off put by the experience I had here yesterday! The guy really said George Floyd wasn't murdered! Can I just please buy my nutrients and get the heck out of this store!?! Don't go here! There are a bunch of other hydro stores where you're not forced to deal with all this crap I dealt with! No masks? Fine, I guess I'll deal. But when you start going on a rant about how the things happening in America right now aren't real? Gimme a break! I was looking for a hobby. I decided to try growing a few indoor plants. I happened by San Jose hydroponics. I walked in knowing nothing about growing good plants. David the manager help me to understand some basics. He helped me to assemble small dirt assembly including a great LED light. The price was great and even delivered it for me. He help me with his vast knowledge to simplify the process. He continues to help me with good advice. My plants are growing with great promise. Harvest time is coming .! Yeah.! This place is awesome. The people are super friendly. They do a good job helping you out with whatever you need. I was looking for an exceptionally hard to get product and had been turned away from multiple other stores due to the difficulty in finding a supplier. The guy at the front went out of his way to order it just for me! That's the kind of experience I want at a store. Don't listen to the stupid annoying personalities complaining about the people who work there or making up fake things about them. I went in and talked with them and got a completely different story about some of the people who left one stars and then made up fantastic stories about why they were treated poorly. Here's a tip, it's because you suck as a person. You're trashy and have a bad personality and don't know how to interact appropriately with people in a calm social setting. But unfortunately scum bag customers like them are attracted to the hydro industry. Only reason i give them a 1 star is because i cant give them 0. I called in for a few phone quotes and was told they carried the items but when i showed up the items where nowhere to be found. They worker that helped me was very rude and was unwilling to help me. They have no idea what they are talking about when asked on how something is used or set up. This place is great! I gave them three stars because yelp sucks and businesses shouldnt have to pay to keep good reviews. Really they deserve 5 stars and a hug! Anyway they helped me when I really needed it. My favorite plant snapped and I wanted to save it, so they showed me how to make clones and sold me the proper equipment I needed. The staff is truly knowledgeable. They showed true compassion and sympathy. Not only that but I paid under $20 for everything (clone lesson + instructions+ supplies) I needed + got some free plant food samples. Thank you so much San Jose Hydroponics! Im a new grower. Like 3 days new. I spoke with DAVID at the front desk and i explained my situation for my plant. He skillfully knew exactly what to do, around what stage of growth my plant was in and what nutrients it needed. He schooled me on the entire process of growing my plant, the schedule, the ammount, maintenance, aswell as many warning signs!! I've been to many different hydroponic store's and by far this is my favorite. They have everything that you need and then some. They carry all the big name brand's and off brand for very reasonable prices. The grow light selection is massive with used equipment for the grower on a budget. This is the second time I have gone to their store and they have opened late. When I mentioned to the guy that he lost a customer while I was waiting for him to open, his response was that it is only 11:10. Yeah, dude, you were 10 minutes late to work. It just isn't professional. Some of their prices are pretty fair, I've found things cheaper there than online. They have a shelf of stuff you can buy second hand, got a great deal on a EZ clone machine from that. Customer service is great if the right guy is working. Whoever opened today wasn't as helpful as he could have been, didn't even apologize for being late. read more

This place is great! I checked San Jose Hydroponics out for their grand opening and I have to say that their prices seem to be pretty incredible. I was actually a little bummed that I had just paid a lot more for some nutrients at another local shop a few days before. I've actually already been back several times and have to say that the experience seems to only be improving (they even lowered their prices from the grand opening). The selection of Advanced Nutrients products is very good. I also like how all of the nutrients are on the same wall, it makes it easier to kind of scan and see what you want. I paid $29 for 1L of the liquid Big Bud. That seemed to be pretty competitive to what I've seen online. Overall I think this place is definitely worth checking out. You may not be able to find absolutely everything you are looking for, but they have only been in business for a few weeks so I expect the selection will only improve. The prices here are just so reasonable that I really don't think you can walk away unhappy. This is an easy 5 star rating for me. read more

These guys are my go to guys for growing. Been in 3 times and every time am greeted at the door and are very knowledgeable and helpful.
