I waited until 3:05 until I said "I don't mean to be a pain but I have to pick up my kids from the bus. I can really only wait another 5-10 minutes". They told me there was no way that they would be able to get me in for at least another 20 mins. I said it was urgent because I needed to get the results to a specialist. I had an appointment for 2:30. I paid daycare. I arranged to get there. Why would it take an hour to get in??? They said they hadn't even inputted my information yet. Do not go to this location.! Furious that they would take a man who complained immediately and I would have to wait at least half an hour more. I had to walk out. I rarely get mad but if they are going to be an hour behind they should tell people at checkout. They also shouldn't prioritize an angry man over a mom of 3 who had to a balancing act just to get there. . I now have to go back another day. I don't have another day to come back!It takes time and money to arrange. It takes 2 minutes to take my blood. Why couldn't they prioritize my appointment.?

It seems that the experiences of others here are very bad, and perhaps justifiably so, but my wife,…read moredaughter and I go to that clinic, seldom wait all that long, as we phone ahead for an appt. time. Dr. K is a delight to work with, for she tends to be caring and thorough, listens well, and is right on the task when we are clear about our needs. We are super happy with this fine woman! As well, the front desk has been a pleasure to deal with, but like the rest of us they appreciate respect and a smile or two along the way. And this brings me to another important point. As former registered professional people-helper myself, doing one's best to be super available to help others in meaningful ways takes considerable energy and care for those who show up in our offices. Mount Royal, Mission and other inner city drop-in clinics tend to have a large number of street needy and self-abusing people show up without appointments nor the manners to over-ride their often terrible physical and emotional condition. This is a constant rub on front-line staff and some physicians. We all are human and can get somewhat rundown with age and disease, but when many of one's clients are destroying themselves, it's both heart-rending and horrible. While waiting I've witnessed street people, prematurely elderly, junkies and alkies, and a disproportionate number of NA Indians show up. Their ship-wrecked recividist inclinations, burned-out lifestyles, and ongoing self-pity are obvious! Go to any hospital, clinic and medical center on any day, and witness the largely needless carnage that's parked outside their doors and inside their waiting rooms. Let's therefore consider this when we go to inner-city med clinics? And, instead of one more horror story, we can offer a smile and word of appreciation for their efforts when every day human misery pours in their doors...?

I decided that I would not be coming to see a medical professional who is content to practise in such a dirty office.

DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC!…read more We moved from BC where we had an amazing Doctor with amazing staff and I moved here pregnant and had to find a doctor very quickly, we were told this clinic was taking patients...there is a reason for that. The staff that works here is terrible! The girls that work the front are just as important as the doctors and the one's here are incompetent, have more attitude then a 14 year old girl and the Dr. we saw, although very kind, was very inexperienced and was just happy to write a prescription instead of taking the time to find other methods or discuss the problems. I was told that I need to book a referral for my husband to get a vasectomy through my family doctor. So I called the clinic to tell them why I was booking the appointment for my husband. He had to take the day off of work to get in and after waiting 30 minutes, Dr. Hanna told him she didn't know why he booked an appointment as it wasn't covered by Alberta Health and she couldn't refer him and she didn't know why he booked an appointment. That should have been up to the front end staff to educate him or NOT book the appointment...again they are just as important. Secondly, after having my 3rd baby, I brought him in the first week and after having had an amazing doctor for my first 2 I know what the check ups should be like. Dr. Hanna was very uncomfortable with the handling of our baby and they didn't even understand their own weighing scale. She didn't even want to see my incision or do any kind of check up on me. I had issues with nursing again and the last Dr I had for 25 years had no problem taking a look at my breasts to see if there was any concerns...Dr. Hanna didn't even want to look at me. She made everything feel uncomfortable and a Dr. should never make you feel uncomfortable about your body or discussing your body. We made a family decision to find another Doctor as we want one for the long haul...I called to ask about getting my surgery record and my baby's records from 6 weeks ago and was very rudely told with the utmost attitude by the front desk that they would not give me ANY information until another Doctor requested it and I had paid $25 a person ($50 for us both). In fact she started to yell at me...have I mentioned how TERRIBLE the front end staff is?? Just read the other posts....I'm not a picky person, but I do expect professionalism and maybe a smile or two with a hello. Not only that but the atmosphere is more of a walk-in clinic and like I said the front end staff is very rude...don't ever expect to feel 'welcomed' at this clinic or leave feeling like your questions were answered..you'll leave with no answers and some kind of prescription in hand. Honestly....keep going to a walk-in for your concerns until you find another clinic..if Calgary wasn't so short on Doctors I'm sure this clinic would be shut down!

Yes, this is controversial for some…read more I support universal health care, but don't quite understand why it should come at a universal low standard. My dentist calls me every 4 months for a cleaning or checkup. When was the last time I had a blood test.?... 10 years! I know many have adequate medical care through established family practices via standard health care, but some don't. I did not. I think I knew something was not right and when I couldn't arrange a standard medical exam through my MD (after 1 year of trying and two misconnects) then I signed up for Copeman. After the intake questions and battery of exams and tests, it was found that essentially everything was off the charts. I was actually in pretty bad shape. Fortunately things were found early enough, I received some expert advice, and was able to get some lifestyle choices turned around before it was too late. The actual facility is centrally located, has easy off-street parking with nice (modern and clean!) offices and waiting room. There are nutritionists, physiotherapists, exercise kinesiologists, nurses, lab staff and counsellors available, but most importantly, physicians who actually take their hand off of the door handle when they talk to you. For lab tests, samples are all taken on site. This is the way health care should be. It is not luxurious, unless you compare it to the standard squalid waiting rooms at physicians' offices, usually located in dilapidated medical buildings with antique furnishings and equipment from the 60s. How we have come to accept the current state as acceptable is bewildering to me. While I feel a twinge of liberal guilt about the whole thing, this is a complicated issue with no easy answers. I was not willing to die waiting for politicians and government to figure it out. At $4K/ first year and $2.5K/year following (there are also family plans), it is certainly not for everyone. I am a supporter, and while this kind of service is not the answer to our current delivery problems, it just might be part of the solution.

The receptionist was very nice and accommodating and I heard her tell several walk in patients, who came in after me, that it'll be an hour, then 1.5 hours and then 2 hour wait time. I've now been waiting 2 hours myself and have seen several people go ahead of my, presumably booked appointments, which is fine. The clinic is quite cold with the A/C running non stop and even on a summer's day like today I'm starting to freeze. I'm not exactly prepared with a winter's coat here. The doctors seem to take their time and with only one doctor, according to the chart, taking walk in patients it is a bit strange that he would also take appointments. They do allow a walk in patient to leave and return a little closer to their estimated appointment time, which is nice. Would have also been nice to have been told before I waited 1.5 hours already... 2.5 hours later I was called in. A nurse asked why I was seeing the doctor and took down some digital notes. The clinic has quite a lot of rooms and for only 2 doctors to be working on a Thursday morning/lunch time is strange.
