The room was lovely and spacious (we stayed in the Royal Gala room). The room and house was clean and quiet. All essentials were provided including hair dryer and fan. The dresser was stocked daily with teas, hot chocolate and biscuits. Breakfast was amazing. Ling had a menu of several different options which she prepared to order. Sadly we don't have any pictures because they were so appetizing we ate right away! In addition, toast, yogurt, cereal were available as well. French press coffee was made fresh for each couple, or tea as desired. The walk to town was a short 5-10 minutes and we appreciated the quiet neighborhood this bed and breakfast was located in. Ling even left us a box of chocolates, chocolate liquor shots and flowers with a thank you note / happy anniversary note on our last night. A real nice touch (see photo). We will definitely be referring our friends here and staying here in the future if we visit Bath again.

The hosts, a young couple, were both very cheery and friendly. They were helpful with the luggage, and made recommendations of things to see and do while in Bath. The room was on the top floor, and was a bit tight. There was little room to spread out for a two night stay. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also tight. The flat screen TV required manually turning it on before controlling it with the remote, and that wasn't as easy as the hand note instructed. The kettle needed to be cleaned out. For the double room that we got, £85 GBP per night, which required a £50 GBP deposit, which you had to pay by credit card and pay £2 GBP fee to use your credit card. This was not my first choice to stay for two night in Bath.

We stopped off at Bath, which hadn't been a city high on our list of places to visit, but now was convenient place to stop. We looked online for a vacancy and the Lansdown Grove Hotel was available Can't say enough about this impressive stone structure hotel set upon a hill overlooking the town of Bath. It seems Italian inspired in decor. The room was comfortable and stylish. We even had a courtyard outside our back door. The courtyard led to other levels of terrace and park like areas. The food was excellent. In the evening, after an afternoon of exploring the town, we enjoyed a drink in the lounge. I've rarely experienced a more inviting bar/lounge. The terrace doors were open on this summer night. It was really quite magical. The hotel reminded us somewhat of the villa in "Enchanted April". Highly recommend. It was reasonably priced for what was offered. 133 EP. Some might find elements a little funky, like the carpet or the varying levels, but these things we found charming. Only one complaint - the shower is a little difficult to operate.

The grounds are immaculate as you are escorted to your room. We spent a pretty penny but well worth it while visiting the Roman Baths which were less than a Mile away. Very satisfying.

Everyone from the concierge, waiters, managers, and housekeeping made us feel welcomed. The one manager took the time to speak to my family every time he saw us and even went out of his way to explain the sculptures in the garden. The gardens themselves are stunning - a little oasis away from the crowds. We had the same waiter for our first tea and several breakfasts and he was so kind. I recommend afternoon tea, the breakfasts, and drinks at the lounge.

My advice to you if you're looking for a nice afternoon tea in Bath is this: go around to some of…read morethe local independent bakeries and cafes and pick up everything you might like (some nice scones, biscuits, sandwiches, etc.; you could even get all of this at Waitrose or M&S), then head over to Tea In The Gardens (a coffee stand located at the Botanical Gardens in Royal Victoria Park), order a tea, and have a picnic outside. You could also bring tea/coffee from home and do this anywhere in the city really: the Royal Crescent, Sydney Gardens, Henrietta Park, Norfolk Crescent, Green Park, the Parade Gardens... Any of which would be a nicer experience than The Bath Priory. The staff here was rude from start to finish: we were openly snickered at multiple times, we were made fun of for our accents, we were blatantly ignored every time we tried to ask for the bill. When we had finally paid - after they accused me of my card not working (it was their wifi; we watched them accuse another table before us of the same thing) - we asked if we could walk the grounds like so many other people had: we were laughed at. Literally, just a chuckle from the host as they handed me my card and walked away. While I appreciate that they offer both a vegetarian afternoon tea menu AND a vegan afternoon tea menu (book ahead for those), we were left underwhelmed by the former option. There was nothing special about the cheese and pickle, egg mayonnaise, cucumber and crème fraiche, or tomato and balsamic sandwiches (any of which I could have gotten better elsewhere). The scones were overbaked and stodgy. The mango choux had an unpleasant aftertaste. The macrons were flavorless. We both agreed the seasonal strawberry tart was the most delicious and vibrant thing on the tower, but everything else - especially given that it was £48 per person - left *a lot* to be desired. Finally, while the tea options are extensive and supposedly unlimited... we never received more than our one tiny pot despite asking. This, for me, is a hard pass.

Having made a dinner reservation based on a recommendation (and an overnight stay in a nearby…read morehotel) we were pleased to be received with such a warm service throughout our visit and what was clearly a devoted attention to detail regarding our menu choices. The terrine was rich without being too far to the salty side. The pan-fried scallops with black pudding and cauliflower puree were delectable in providing just the right amount of crispness while still remaining spongy and fresh. The combination of black pudding and cauliflower puree was rather piquant and provided an interesting compliment to the dish. The lamb shank was prepared with a meticulous attention to its overall delicacy, with thick rustic gravy. The mushroom wellington was full-bodied in its nutty flavour and was rather impressive in size. Regardless, the light pastry lacked a stodgy substructure and the accompanying roast vegetables were anything beside bland. To finish we enjoyed a slice of the chocolate pie and a bowl of lemon sorbet. The pie was well-presented and of a decent quality. The sorbet was splendidly tart. Despite a booking during a peak time the restaurant was enjoyable quiet and we were generally left in peace (although service felt as though it were constantly to hand). Both qualities contributed to the intimate atmosphere. The elaborate furnishings to suit the ornate style of the building were appreciated. Needless to say we were not disappointed at all with the entire experience.
